Doordash should have a open location like Uber eats. I really hate that you sign to be in an area and an order comes to go 10 miles away for 10 dollar then you need to drive 10 miles back to be in the area to receive an order. Is a waste of time and gas. And if you declined 1% comes off your acceptance rate. They need to fix this asap.

Yes. I think this is the biggest problem with the food dash apps. There are customers who are very good tippers, but it can't make up for the 70% that are just awful. Dashers have vehicles, and that is the service.

  • @yolondaridesharedelivery
    @yolondaridesharedelivery ปีที่แล้ว +9

It is $11.75 EBT per hour +/- in South Florida, one of the nation's expensive living areas.
The other thing is we are really compensated for time traveled for the deliveries that don't tip.
    1. The other is how you justify losing the pay for drivers based on previous years, especially when everything, everything has increased.
    2. When doordash started, they didn't have television/radio ads
    Who pays, us?
    3. As a public traded company, their obligation isn't to us, the drivers, but the stock holders.
    4. There isn't a mileage cap/ratios for delivering, and most of the time here, there are no tips because of delivering to rural areas.
    And trips are one way.
    5. They did not receive delivering claims , NO PAY.
    Should we be provided cameras?
    6. The owner operations of automobile maintenance have increased, with decreased pay.
And the most important of this all ....not knowing the physicality of the locations where there are delays based on gated communities, no numbered buildings, and an elevator not working. Etc.
The big one is Location App Issues, GPS does a dance, because of signal block.
There is no justification for this type of control.
We should be able to earn in a 10 hour day, $200+.

Two biggest issues in my area (Fort Lauderdale) are trip distance and getting orders. When you get a order for $15 and 17 miles, it not only takes along time and gas, but chances of food being warm even with insulated bag are low. Then customer takes away tip, so I no longer take these orders. When app says it’s very busy and even offer extra $1 or $2 per delivery I might sit an hour and not get a single order sent to me. So it’s quite frustrating to expect orders based on what app is telling me, and then nothing coming in.

No tip no trip. And try he door dash pay has to reflect fairness in the mileage driven. $5 for 10 miles of driving isn’t going to cut it. Plus what’s not factored in is the driver has to not only drive 10 miles from the pick up location which more so is a restaurant district, the driver also has to drive 10 miles back to the destination. So that’s $5 driver pay and including the tip for 20 miles of driving.

This is the first time that I have heard any other driver acknowledge this. I have went to a restaurant, and that restaurant had over 40 deliveries sitting on a table for driver pickup only, and you can do an educated guess as to why drivers were not picking up the food. You think the restaurant would give the customers some hints. I had to look through light colored information to find my order, and eventually, had to ask someone to find it for me. He kind of acted as if it was my job to sift through the orders. I was about to walk away, no matter the pay because that was not cool. He went right to it???? I went there because the delivery app paid me handsomely to go get it. I don't think Dashers should be penalized, and I bet most getting kicked off of the app should not be. I say, beware of the customers that say, " hand it to me", and do not answer the door because you have to find away to get a picture. I don't have time for extra, night standing. I got a contract violation(time violation) because a restaurant had to re-make an order because it melted. My guess is that drivers could not find the place because the mapper was giving the wrong direction. Anyway, I waited because I had another order going to the same house and because I thought it would be quick....wrong answer. Sometimes, I forget to change the navigator. I might drop something at the wrong address because I have to guess. I can admit that, but sometimes that mapper is putting the driver on the wrong side of the street, without a visible address on either side, and mailboxes for both sides of the street, on one side. It takes a bit more effort when the customer does not answer the phone nor text. I view this as a safety issue. I am not getting shot out there... I do have some glitches because I am not perfect but it is not because I did not put forth an effort to find a customer. Most of us are not crooked because this is a job.

If you actually think a CEO is going to allow themselves to be backed into a corner and make their company look bad, you're sorely mistaken.

How about this for an idea. Don’t hide what the tip on hourly dashes. Sneaky sneaky. This is how you get the no tip no trip dashes. I noticed that often when a no tip comes through it’s typically a dash pass person. Maybe this needs to be looked at for delivery purposes. You can’t take a 2.25 and go 8 miles there and back with no tip. Essentially the dasher is paying to drive the food not the other way.

If customers won't tip and if Doordash doesn't want Dashers to get all of their tips then excellent delivery service should not be expected! Merchants that opt in to the top tier of the DoorDash service program (30%) are able to cast a wider net (distance) in their visibility on the app. Perhaps if this was removed or modified you wouldn't have offers trying to send drivers 12 miles for no tip/low tip orders when there is the same restaurant or merchant within 3 miles. If as Tony claims, you're trying to serve the best interests of all three components, customer, DD and drivers well that isn't it.

Change the hours into 11:00 never updated the hours
Even Google says it's open 24/7 and it says it on the Uber app
I will just tell the customer based on my experience trying to pick up food pass 11 at the mcdonald location i listen above
for 5 months now and I know they closed at 11:00 and it's right now 12:30 but I'm going to drive over there just to make sure but based on my experience for the past couple of months they was always closed

    My feedback took a hit
    They deactivate me
All because I don't want the customer to have a bad experience waiting for food for 3 hours that's the problem with the apps today people just cancel the deliveries and don't inform the customers on both platform Uber eats and door dash

I doubt anyone from Doordash sees this but for those who might, thanks for doing this. As a dasher would love to comment that when it comes to getting things right the one big issue i have seen lately that i can only imagine is a bug because its not good for anyone in the trifecta from merchant to dasher to customer is that i keep seeing super long range orders generated when there are 1 or even 2 much much closer restaurants from identical retailer to customer, as in customer has merchant(s) 2-4 miles out but one is generated 8-12 miles out or more. I just wish someone could look into this because its happened too many times with too many different chains, and in multiple zones I've worked, not isolated in any way, if anything surprisingly common that i see this. There has to be something causing it and i personally believe it needs a solution as its a pitfall everyone suffers in regards to bringing the best experience. That's my number one thing, of all the little things one might notice as a Dasher.
In similar vain, near the end Harry and Tony start talking about communicating importance of tips, just a simple suggestion: Add a reminder of how long the order is going out on tip and or Custom tip screen, or something to that effect. Realistically that is how we as dashers qualify the worth of a task vast majority of the time, and I'm fairly certain customer are oblivious to how much it means to us when we can get a bit more for higher mileage drives. That is the really important thing to us, we could care less if its a single bottle of Coca Cola from Chipotle or 10x Rotisserie Chicken from Boston Market, its the actual distance that matters.
Thank you for your time, and thank you both for the interview, didn't expect to see this but was a nice surprise.

      @vickithrash2610 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

It isn't a bug. Another app is worse with the distance. Dash is clear with the compensation. The other app is not as clear, but often times, the distance will produce a larger reward from the customer; however, it is a gamble. I actually think having a base salary might be better for drivers, although, the distance might get worse, and there could be driver casualties. Customers, who do not pay, according to the fact that there are vehicles involved, will be forced to pay, if it becomes more salaried or concrete hourly pay. Maybe, the apps could just cover a larger percentage of gas. These apps are a good idea. The apps fit for many people. I like the delivery apps, randomness of deliveries, flexibility of driving, and tax break, but some of these distances are insane. I would like to have at least an 80% acceptance rate, but there is just no way because when I do the math, I will end up at a deficit. Some of the addresses are difficult to find, when there are clusters of buildings, random glitches, and... Sometimes, I think there are hackers getting in the way. I agree with the end of your statement. If the consumer pays for the greater distance, very few drivers would complain about compensation. Compensate because I am driving my car quite a distance.

AMEN. It's ridiculous to pass a Pizza Hut on the way to another Pizza Hut to pick up an order, and I'm talking about restaurants further from the customer too, not just drivers. Honestly, what would help tremendously is a stable app, bit more importantly an app that has accurate information.
Has anyone else notice on the shop and deliver orders, that the isle numbers are wrong on where the item is located within the store? Not such a big deal, if you know the store, but you don't it can add an additional 5 to 10 min on top of the projected time
Not to mention the additional work the Dasher goes through. Very inefficient.
I have informed support twice on this issue, but it i feel it fell on deaf ears.
Also, maybe someone within the company should take a look when they push new versions of the app NOT to be during the peak delivery times or at least give Dashers a heads up. Since it truly affects the app when we have to update to the new version. Which truly sycks when it happens during a shop and deliver order. Since it wipes out any items that you have already scanned.

Then you offer $3 to the driver doing all the work get the task accomplished
Then when my car breaks down from 2000 plus deliveries I’m out of luck… sucks for dashers! SHOULD NOT have a option for tipping under $7 if you’re going to pocket all the delivery fees like you’re delivering it, the store and customer already think we’re getting the delivery fee, they have no idea what we’re actually getting paid so they have the attitude that they payed a high amount and that creates a problem because they think they should be getting $20 service but really dasher is giving them the $3 service that they’re getting, this creates a very hostile environment! Very tense when you’re dependent on a good tip to make the time and effort worth it!

DoorDash says they care about Dashers, but in reality it doesn't. I averaged 15 to 17 dollars an hour most of the time. 38 percent of that went to taxes. $200 to $300 in gasoline. Not to mention wear and tear on tires, engine, suspension, etc. You would do better working at just a local delivery Pizza hut that reimburses for mileage, etc. Also DoorDash takes you off the platform for misdemeanors that are 13 years old. We suffer from cold, heat, traffic, apps not interfering with driving, etc. So the reason most only do 10 hours or less, is because for Dashers it is not worth it. I also believe customers get lazy for low tips to hard workers.

You shop all those items for a low pay, drive a lot of miles an they wont even come out to help. Plus they giving out codes to us to get in buildings that is not a safe thing to do. Just come to the front door to get yo stuff. Make that mandatory its not safe for us to go in buildings. Who got the award????? Did anyone on here get 10,000 dollars?????I never got an😢 extra penny.

In my personal experience I have seen up to 30 an hour which was my base pay an hour as a mechanic so the transition works for me but my work ethic isn't like yours

Garbage, stop trying to run the business off customers tip, pay for the deliveries or charge the customer for delivery so you can pay, stupid stacking of orders just to rob the dasher. You waited 20 min for an order after pick up time you don't say anything to the store then you have to jump thru hoops to unassign order without penalties after waiting.

I commend Tony on his slickness. But there is frankly a flaw in his business model but it may take time for it to become self evident. The flaw is centralized control over value and quality created by the merchants and dashers. There is a law of unintended consequences which may end up making their draconian AI irrelevant. The more that door dash tries to build these centralized control programs around real world individual need, the more that consumers may seek more egalitarian options where their individual requirements can be better served. Once the customer realizes the misdirection that's been done on them, I predict a backlash against merchants that don't serve the market....they corner the markets.
