Some other things to add is how they made John a reskin of Arthur in the epilogue, New Austin is barebones, they removed Mexico, and New Austin doesn’t have its own ambient soundtrack.
Also creates a plot hole where in RDR1 John is being brought to New Austin and is pretty clear he’s never been there before. Plus the MacFarlane Ranch is missing which is an issue
They should've played the RDR1 Ambient music in New Austin for true nostalgia meat riding. Would've really appreciated it. I also agree he needed a better character model
Yeah armadillo is just depressing I think the reason they made John’s head shape so similar to Arthur’s was so they didn’t have to model like 300 more haircut variations for different styles and lengths and just take Arthur’s hair and recolor it
Arthur’s bounty was 5000 dollars in 1899 money, not today money. 20,000 dollars probably wouldn’t be enough to cover all the bounties, since if Arthur is worth 5k, I assume Dutch and Hosea together are likely worth at least 20k.
@@iuria1521 agent milton said "5000$ for your head alone" which implies that arthur is worth more than that. So if every part of arthur's body was worth the same price (5000$) he would have a bounty of 50.000$ (assuming that every body part had the same price)
Abigail wasn't mad at John for defending himself she was mad at him because of how comfortable he was with doing it and quickly slipping into the habit with any chance he got.
My biggest problem with this game is that Arthur is not able to go to new Austin it makes sense that you can't go to blackwater and great plains but it's pretty stupid that once you fight your way through great plains you get sniped for an invisible sniper he's wanted in blackwater and great plains not New Austin but this is mostly a nitpick because it does give you things to do as John
It really sucked, you we're able to do a glitch and cross over without getting shot by anything law related. Why they added a sniper, I wouldn't know, how I see it there was nothing destroying the game crossing the game with Arthur
I think Abigail wanted John to let them steal his wagon because he was a wanted man and if word broke out that some random farm hand was performing all these incredible feats, it could've led to investigation and his eventual capture. Which is kind of what happens if you think about it. She wanted him to act like the average tiddler to avoid suspicion. Not solo'ing an entire gang like a story-book hero
Bill and Javier do actually show animosity toward John and Arthur in chapter 6. When you try to greet the two, they get defensive, and Javier can be seen whispering to Micah about who knows what
Tbh I don’t have much frustration with colter, I think it’s a nice start but I can see why some people thinks it boring, as for Abigail, it is a good point but I think a slight excuse not making the entire thing ok is the fact she didn’t want to go back to the life they once lived, being so blinded by the fact that she didn’t want to live a life on the run that didn’t understand that johns decisions were completely rational and that anybody else would do the same thing as him. When I did the smoking and cigarettes mission a random guy on a horse knocked him over and all of them got ran over by the train leaving a floating briefcase by the track 😂
I get why john didn't use the iconic pose for Micah, the satisfaction was Micah being the only main villain in the entire game that we as a player get to kill, Abigail gets Milton in cutscene, Dutch gets bronte and cornwall is cutscene, colm is hanged in cutscene. Even Mrs. Braithwaite is killed in cutscene, and although we get minor wins like Sheriff Gray, we don't really have an issue with sheriff himself, more his family as a whole. So yeah, being able to really hand it to Micah was a crazy win. But I think Cleet's death could've used the pose. Lemme explain, although Joe is a good candidate for it, his scene that mirrors the 3 wolves that John wasn't physically or mentally able to take on in chapter 1, whereas he's much closer and mentally prepared and physically fit enough to take Joe and his 2 goons on before meeting Micah, is way to iconic and symbolic to change, but Cleet's hanging? Just have them untighten the Noose as he talks, he'll try to run away before Sadie shoots his leg, he'll fall off the platform, you walk down the stairs as he crawls away, and boom, iconic pose shoot his head off
I always felt like abigail's nagging made sense. From the players point of view yes for the most times beating up folk and killing a bunch of hired mercenaries makes sense since they started it. However Abigaile and John did promiss each other to keep a low profile and to act like a decent family. No regular family man could or would do the things john did and it blow their already weak cover. It doesnt help johns case that when we first see the family in the epilogue they are already on the run because of something john did. If we saw a bit more of john not giving a damn about covering up his past maybe the player would sympathize with abigaile a bit more.
@@dukemeiser19 i can see why most ppl say that, fair enough. Also havr u played call of juarez gunslinger? If not u should its my fav western shooter after rdr
I gotta push back on your first sin a little. Paying off your bounty is a gameplay mechanic for us, the player. It's not actually something that the characters can do in the story. Red-Dead takes place in its own history, but historically, a bounty was a reward for whoever it was out on. you couldn't pay it off because it was what someone else was willing to pay for your death or capture. so while we, the player can pay off a 5,000 dollar bounty that we get from doing various gameplay crimes, Arthur Morgan, the character, can not pay off the 5,000 dollar price the goverment has on his head, especially because he is mostly wantes for capital crimes like Murder and banditry.
You don't think that it's logical to be able to rob a bank of $20,000 and then pay off your bounty (that is less than 20k) with that money and then walk around like nothing happened while spending that stolen money? When that bounty also includes a heap of other crimes? Seems pretty obvious to me that the van der Linde gang just missed out on a real life exploit! Tsk tsk tsk.
I wouldn't be mad at the Epilogue we got if it was slowly patched and updated overtime. But no they had to focus online and update that, introducing more and more bugs to story mode, actively making singleplayer worse.
None of the economics in the game make sense, including the prices of items. I saw a video about the game by a weapons expert who was very impressed with the realism of the guns, but got shocked as hell when he saw how expensive they were compared to what they really would have cost back then. Most everything in the game seems way overpriced to me.
One thing I never understood is why the bank robbery in Saint Dennis went actually wrong. Agent Milton said that Micah ratted after Guarma so how did he know what day the bank would be hit?
I dunno if anyone has said this under this video but the original plan for guarma was to have the island be smaller and fully explorable and then john could come back to do things like legendary animals and collectibles and stuff
I would disagree with your take on Abigail. First of all ; from her point of view John has been reckless countless times even before the epilogue. So why would she believe him when he claims he had no choice? She has every right to doubt him and assume he had other options. Because honestly, and that's my second point ; I too think he had plenty of options in almost all scenarios you listed. He could flee like an NPC would for example, he's badass enough to pull that off. Yes he could absolutely let those guys steal the wagon (finding a new horse is not exactly hard for him), he could even chose to take a beating for once ; yet he keeps on "saving the day" and therefore blowing his cover. And she tries to tell him how reckless that is. She tells him they need to lay low and he keeps on acting like he's some hero or badass gunslinger. And I think it's not so much just because he's dumb (which he kind of is TBH and that's actually one of my main gripes with RDR2 John, but that's not my point) ; it's also because he has a bit too much pride. He is an outlaw at heart and he will refuse to let anything slide, even when it puts his family in danger. He won't be the coward in any situation. Except sometimes, in order to protect the family you love you have to be the coward. By the time he is being followed by the 3 goobers the cover is already blown, it's just Abigail doesn't know it yet. This mission only shows she was right and he fucked up once again. She has to leave him for the exact same reason Mary had to leave Arthur. He won't change for her. In the end, like you said, going after Micah, even as she begs him not to do it, is what ends up killing them both.
I’m pretty sure the OG money from Black Water was actually $150,000. *HOW THE FACK DOES A DEBT COST $130,000 JOHN? ARE YOU LIVING IN FACKING 31ST CENTURY???!!!*
Can I also add the fact you can be interrupted by bounty hunters actually ruins most of the enjoyment and flow of the game makes it dam near hell to try and do challenges side missions ect.
I personally don't like Guarma (Chapter 5) because it doesn't really fit the game. New Austin makes a lot more sense, Dutch and crew are lost and need to get out of the state somehow and return to the East.
Besides Guarma, my biggest complaint is with the Epilogue. There's not much interesting to do outside the main missions, and so I always find myself doing very little else.
2:27 you can actually shoot this bird that doesn’t even land and can only be studied form the highest point of the map because you it will be too high up to study if you see it normal and there’s 4 species of snake of which 3 share the same spawn location and rarely spawn and there’s this one that only shows up once every 20 times you check it’s spawn point
So far the first sin being "Pay off the bounties" that's a game mechanic, and it's stolen money. Bounties in the real wild West didn't work like that. They wanted the person and offered a reward, you don't just suddenly get exempt from crime.
I just made a chapter two save with Micah’s revolver, alternatively if I want the odriscolls camp and Cornwall train I’ll just make a save before then.
The money thing is a great point. Realistically, the take for that mission should've only been a thousand dollars. However, RDR1 money is even more busted. Ive made almost a thousand dollars from just playing Five Finger Fillet. I haven't even done the West Dickens missions yet.
Honestly the biggest issue is that all these new people were added that are not even mentioned. While characters like Sean, Lenny and the women who do little and are new make sense to be forgotten, Hosea and Arthur being forgotten is absurd. Honestly if the gang was just the RDR1 squad (John/Bill/Javier/Dutch/Uncle/Abigail/Jack) the story would probably deepen all their characters and make the betrayal/hunting of the 3 hit harder
@@dukemeiser19 I think the story not being from John’s perspective hurts too. John wouldn’t be able to shotgun Micah cause if he did his head would be blown of and agent Ross wouldn’t be able to recognise him and the first game wouldn’t have happened
Huge nitpick. Why have Arthur start missions like catching legendary fish and dinosaur bones when you can't actually do them all as Arthur (without glitches) and only as John. A 7 year or so time gap ruins it all for me. I'm supposed to be believe the dinosaur bones woman and the legendary fisherman will wait that long.... I now always avoid those 2 as Arthur and only activate them as John as it makes no sense to me personally why they would be waiting 7 years. I make an exception for legendary Animals as Hosea gives the map to Arthur and that's what Arthur wanted to do just because. So John killing off the remaining 3 legendary animals for Arthur is a nice touch but the legendary fish and dinosaur bones has someone waiting for Arthur...
I think my absolute least favorite thing is that the game gives you 20K after completion. I get it's a payoff for how often the Blackwater money is brought up, but for gameplay itself, SO much world interaction is motivated *by* "I need more money." (Not all of it.) If you're not someone who gets off exclusively off internal motivation, and need a bit of external influence like me, 20K just KILLS that for me because it's more money than I could ever need or even realistically spend. I practically have to will the cash out of existence because I can max out *everything* I have and still have like 8-10K left over. Just make really basic bounty hunting or stagecoach robberies, or horsebreaking jobs. We don't need extremely in depth scripted content, just spawn some NPCs a few miles away like RDR1 and that'll be fine for making money.
I think rockstar should create or do a re-release of red dead redemption two containing all cut content I would totally buy it if not a release then a DLC Containing the cut content and if they did, so, I would be like please rockstar take my money now lol I absolutely adore this game

I love this game but I also have lots of things I could criticize this game for. for example, there should have been more gang hideouts for Lemoyne Raiders and the Skinner Brothers. Skinner Brothers actually have ZERO gang hideouts. lucky we have mods for PC to fix this. New Austin in the game is useless because there is no reason to have it. in fact New Austin was supposed to be a RDR Online only content. it makes sense to have Blackwater and Bleacher's Hope because these are in the state of West Elizabeth. but New Austin was useless and unnecessary for campaign story mode. and with regards to the story. I think the camp location in chapter 4, Shady Belle is just bad. from Clemens Point to Shady Belley the distance isn't far. so the Pinkertons should have found the gang hiding there because it is so damn obvious and in close distance. I would have preferred if Lakay was the actual gang hideout during chapter 4 because Lakay is a very secluded and well hidden base camp and right next to Saint Denis, the chapter in which the story takes place. and Lakay is a hidden location that the Pinkertons wouldn't have been able to find out. and neither the O'Driscolls. strange how the O'Driscolls attack Shady Belle. so randomly. and the Lemoyne Raiders weren't all that well developed tbh. only Arthur and Lenny take out the whole damn Shady Belle Raiders like is nothing. and later on Arthur and John. go there and take out the rest of Raiders before making the place a base camp. Raiders were weak. maybe because during chapter 3 the main antagonists are the Greys and Braithwaites. the Raiders are just small militia of thugs, occasionally working for who is paying them money. my mistake to glorify their importance in the game story, I guess.

Honestly the biggest issue is that all these new people were added that are not even mentioned. While characters like Sean, Lenny and the women who do little and are new make sense to be forgotten, Hosea and Arthur being forgotten is absurd. Honestly if the gang was just the RDR1 squad (John/Bill/Javier/Dutch/Uncle/Abigail/Jack) the story would probably deepen all their characters and make the betrayal/hunting of the 3 hit harder
it makes sense as rdr1 couldn’t account for all the new additions
@@dukemeiser19 I think the story not being from John’s perspective hurts too. Like we see these small interactions but we see them as Arthur and for 2/3 of the game Arthur and John aren’t close either. For that matter Arthur isn’t super close to Bill or Javier so while Dutch is rightfully built up the other 2 aren’t

I felt like he sinned it for features HE didn't like. A good example was the shooting mechanic and said it was impossible to hit anything without auto aim. Good to see Duke doing it right.

if dutch wasn't so dumb the game could've ended on chapter 3
Bro I absolutely love these commentary videos! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks I appreciate the love ❤️
My only real problem with red dead 2 was how lame guarma was, I thought the missions were fun but it was so bare bones and it just made me want more of the island.
0:55 its funny because the first thing i do when i play this game is i do every treasure hunt and find every gold bar so during this mission i had like 8k sitting in my pocket i couldve paid off arthurs bounty right then and there😂😂😂
nice
Dutch said Abigail was a whore as in prostitute and “we all had her” meant sex bro😂😂no one wanted a relationship with neither did John he just had a kid by her.
John wouldn’t be able to shotgun Micah cause if he did his head would be blown of and agent Ross wouldn’t be able to recognise him and the first game wouldn’t have happened

@ shhhhhhhh they don’t know that
Huge nitpick.
When your arthur and antagonize Abigail he'll say
*whine whine whine*

We had the exact same shotgun LOL I was looking forward for this mission to customize 5 of my main guns
Great minds think alike
I think my absolute least favorite thing is that the game gives you 20K after completion.
I get it's a payoff for how often the Blackwater money is brought up, but for gameplay itself, SO much world interaction is motivated *by* "I need more money." (Not all of it.)
If you're not someone who gets off exclusively off internal motivation, and need a bit of external influence like me, 20K just KILLS that for me because it's more money than I could ever need or even realistically spend. I practically have to will the cash out of existence because I can max out *everything* I have and still have like 8-10K left over.
Just make really basic bounty hunting or stagecoach robberies, or horsebreaking jobs. We don't need extremely in depth scripted content, just spawn some NPCs a few miles away like RDR1 and that'll be fine for making money.
john hits ross with a money spread
Great, now I’m pissed about the pose thing 💀
real eyes realize real lies
Arthur's model is reused for John

I think rockstar should create or do a re-release of red dead redemption two containing all cut content I would totally buy it if not a release then a DLC Containing the cut content and if they did, so, I would be like please rockstar take my money now lol I absolutely adore this game
Rockstar would never do this
Unfortunately
A RDR2 Mega Edition would literally be a dream come true
there are lot of unanswered questions particularly one that drives me nuts the mystery of IKZ sadly rockstar won’t go on record to say rather you can, or can’t find the princess or whether or not it has been cut Content that being said is the reason I’ve yet to give up looking for her.
@@dukemeiser19 agreed on that for sure
Dude you forgot the worst thing… Arthur’s holsters
they aight
@@dukemeiser19 nah Sadie and Dutch got it right and maybe Hosea and Micah
@@dukemeiser19 you said yourself they look goofy
I mean you are right but Im pretty that that holster position is for holding an extra gun instead of dual wielding them like Micah or Sadie, witch in my opinion aligns with Arthur’s character but I dunno

Really late to this, but Colter is one of my favourite chapters to replay, right under chapter 4, as its really short
crazy
The game isnt perfect 😭
Abigail is the nagging you have to have the annoying protagonist wife in a relationship in a masterpiece of a game
4:25 You can hunt birds
Raiders were weak. maybe because during chapter 3 the main antagonists are the Greys and Braithwaites. the Raiders are just small militia of thugs, occasionally working for who is paying them money. my mistake to glorify their importance in the game story, I guess.
valid points
Abigail was a total downer. John should have walked away from her on day one.
