Yup, was a breath of fresh air with how horrible things could be portrayed. Having a whole movie highlighting how awful demiurge is without him even being present was awesome.
The movie was great, a lot of fun. I heard is essentially tries to cram in 2 entire volumes worth of content and it's admittedly VERY noticeable, but as a whole if you like Overlord you'll like it.
yes as someone whos read the novels I can say they skipped a lot, But I can also understand why for a movie format, there was a lot more of them saving specific cities and being on the run from demiurges forces. whereas in the movie there was only really 2 city fights. the only scene im sad they cut was when the paladins first arrived in the sorcerer kingdoms city they had to go through a class basically being like "all citizens of the kingdom are equal, youre gonna see some weird shit, do not draw your weapons or the guards will see you as hostile and attack you"
I don’t like overlord I LOVE it if I don’t LOVE it I don’t swallow. They skipped all the detail that makes the arc good as well as a majority of the action. @@ryandavis4629 I certainly wish the final battle was done better. It felt more like watching a Disneyland light show than it did a hardcore battle. The movie was incredible. Absolute cinema. Really enjoyed the heck out of it, especially after marathoning the four seasons in less than a week. If you love Overlord, you will love this movie.
As someone who watched it and is caught up with the light novels, I liked that the movie seemed to understand what it wanted to focus it's pacing around, usually you'd expect things to be cut, but it seemed they had a clear goal of what to cut and why in order to keep the vision of the movie focused. You'd see reviews criticizing this as "dense" and "low action" but to me, it felt like the movie focused on exactly what I wanted to see. I'd almost say it was made for light novel fans because of the pacing making it easy to lose track of how much time is passing. I was also surprised how good the dub was, of course as a native English speaker I could nitpick it in ways I couldn't the sub, where my lack of knowledge makes me fill in blanks favorably, but they both succeeded in capturing the mood and emotion of scenes. I'd recommend seeing both because the dub has moments where some lines are lost in the mixing, and the sub requires you to look away when audiovisual impact is important. Dub then Sub i'd say. Also you got to see the movie in Japan? Did you get the ghost ship of katze plains? Lucky. Spoilers here, kind of, but back to what was focused on, I like that they focused less on Ainz fighting and more on character interactions and New Worlders fighting. I feel it really chose Overlord's strengths to focus on, especially considering the fighting is at its best when it's more mix of step by step game guide as well as fight, like Shalltear or Mare, and this kind of fighting isn't really in the Sacred Kingdom.
I watched it in Japan last month and I thought it was amazing. I've been waiting warmly for your videos ever since after that ending I just have to know more about what was set up in the novels for the upcoming parts of the story regarding the Sacred Kingdom.
The movie was fun but i liked how they did the final twist in the book a lot more Since the arc is 2 novels the mystery is casually set up in the first book and then answered in the second giving people time to think of the posibilities, you also get to hear the internal thoughts of some character so it makes guessing the impostor harder
Just finished watching the movie and I enjoyed it a lot. The action scenes were nice and the humor was good. Came right to this channel to see what I may have missed. Will be looking forward to some Overlord content. ❤
Before reading this arc in the novel, my views on ainz and gang was sugoi nazaric even with the katze plain splatcident. After reading this volume, it has been more clear that overlord is from the villain's pov. Since the characters who brutally died were humanized before the human hammer incident and other such terror. We can feel more empathy and in touch with their reality.
After watching S4 ending it definitly made watching the movie hard considering it doesn't really have the same climaxes. But when you know the context of where it fits into the season and how well isolated they managed to keep this it's impressive in its own right for sure. While I was expecting a bit more for a movie, I'm also left not disappointed at all because it was nice getting to see exactly what happened. How they somehow managed to skip over this much content in s4 and make it make sense was impressive on its own but how it can just neetly slot back in is so impressive. Still I would have loved to of seen a scene like that epic dance ending on the big screen a bit more. I do feel like they cut a bit too much of Ainz's fight scenes in the movie, I wish they had given him more room to breeth and show his supreme power.

rated it a 8/10. I know Ainz is op and all but the final fight should have been more of a visual spectacle. I think that was all it was lacking for the movie going audience. also glad the merch is back just ordered my new hoodie
I watched the movie yesterday. And it looks amazing. I did feel like we jumped around and skipped over quite a bit of things, and it felt like they were cutting things out to fit it into 2 hours, I also wish that we got to see more of the fights instead of skipping over a lot of them. 😢
1:35 This is actually a mistranslation in the subtitles, in japanease they do refer to the sacred kingdom. I believe this mistake happens again in s4, but i dont remember when
Yesterday, i managed to watch to the last viewing of it after watching until the episode that takes place before it. Sadly, I fell asleep at the end of it because it didn't get enough sleep.
The one quote from that part in the books that i still remember and keep within myself is "weakness is a sin". I read the light novel a couple of years back, but i have never forgotten that quote. It's for real, it is not ok to suck. Since then, there has never been a situation where i though that the phrase "weakness is a sin" did not apply. Even though i'm full of weaknesses, and full of sin myself.
My guy I just came from the movies and I loved it. Even if there was cut content is absolutely worth to watch overlord on the big screen and such good quality.
I watched the movie, and I gotta say, the meeting with Demiurge and a certain familiar face before that face is revealed and the new OxT theme kicks in (iykyk) makes me wonder if they actually showed the moment a bait and switch happened and I missed it.
The movie did a decent job in adapting Vol 12 and 13. The visuals helped me understand a few things I missed when I read the book years ago. I know that it's not probably on your schedule, but with the Movie coming out. Do you plan on doing more "Overlord Lore" videos? (ie: Characters explained, Maric, Items) I have no clue how long will take for Maruiama to release the next volume, so they can adapt Vol 15-17 into a new season. Or they can turn the Elf King arc into another movie. But would be GREAT to get an "Elf King Explained" video. His character reminds me of a mixture of Demiurge and Regulus.
Glad to see you’ll be covering the movie, the movie skipped quite a bit of details, so your videos will provide insight to those who only watched the movie.
Oh yea cut content time. Hype for the review and cut content video(s) covering the movie. I like the movie. Went to see it in theaters on Friday. More Ains shenanigans.

i took a friend that didnt really watch anime to watch osk and he really enjoyed it idk if he plans on watching the rest of overlord but I'm happy he enjoyed it plus i thought it was really funny how ainz took the opportunity to use demiurges plan and promote the rune technology to the sacred kingdom through half of the movie.
So, they made the volumes where they showed the "holy mace" into a movie? Was the animation of the usage of the "holy mace" looks divine? Will definitely book a ticket if it is.
please do a video on the movie and some of the missing scenes and how it differs with some of the character interactions as compared to the light novel.
sadly the movie isn't available in my local theater, and the nearest theater available is too far and doesn't fit my work schedule. I'm going to have to wait for it to come out on streaming services.
I tell you, I loved every second of that movie. There were parts that were funny, and there were parts that were extremely serious. I really feel bad for the princess, if only she knew about runes.
I haven't seen it but I figure it was a Movie that tells you what happened between Seasons 3 & 4. But learning it happens during the season was interesting.
Yo I’d really love to actually see the damn movie. It’s really stupid it was only available for a SINGLE DAY and not available for purchase on Crunchyroll for who knows how long. This is so unbelievably scummy I’m sick of practices like this. Why do I have to wait months? The movie is out and ready. Just post it behind a paywall like a movie. How Amazon prime does it.
Watched it yesterday, hardselling runic weapons whenever they can made everyone giggle
I'm glad you watched this with me. You have a much better understanding of inside. And how long these wars have been going on.
The movie did a decent job in adapting Vol 12 and 13. The visuals helped me understand a few things I missed when I read the book years ago.
I know that it's not probably on your schedule, but with the Movie coming out. Do you plan on doing more "Overlord Lore" videos? (ie: Characters explained, Maric, Items)
I have no clue how long will take for Maruiama to release the next volume, so they can adapt Vol 15-17 into a new season. Or they can turn the Elf King arc into another movie.
But would be GREAT to get an "Elf King Explained" video. His character reminds me of a mixture of Demiurge and Regulus.
Yey always comeback for Overlord ‘s content.
Ainz keep wanting to create ads for his runes items was so funny :D:D:D hahaha
I just watched the movie, and it was amazing! Yes, the cut content is noticeable, but it was all alright, and that final twist was unexpected hahaha. Ah, I LOVED Neia Baraja. She was so cute! And now I'm waiting for your cut content video!
i took a friend that didnt really watch anime to watch osk and he really enjoyed it idk if he plans on watching the rest of overlord but I'm happy he enjoyed it plus i thought it was really funny how ainz took the opportunity to use demiurges plan and promote the rune technology to the sacred kingdom through half of the movie.
That was a fun time at the movie theatre. I am going back for the sub version.
I watched it in IMAX 2D, but had to wait an hour because the projector was having issues in the movie theater
So, they made the volumes where they showed the "holy mace" into a movie? Was the animation of the usage of the "holy mace" looks divine? Will definitely book a ticket if it is.
Thought the movie was great! I was thinking this was a continuation but it makes much more sense that it was before they took the Kingdom! Thanks!
please do a video on the movie and some of the missing scenes and how it differs with some of the character interactions as compared to the light novel.
Ugh, I'm so far behind on my youtube videos I didn't know about this movie until now and now it's not in theaters anymore. x.x
remember when this channel use to do overlord content. good times.
Just watched it yesterday. It was so good!!
ANI, PLEASE GIVE US MORE OVERLORD CONTENT AND MY ALBEDO FIGURINE IS YOURS 🗣❗️❗️
Cool, whats happening with season 5? whens that coming out?
I still remember Neja's bow 🎉and Rune Technology 🎉 filled the cinema with nonstop laughter.😂😂😂
Yeah that lady went a bit over on her acting omg that was funny
The movie was awesome. Can’t wait for the cut content videos!
sadly the movie isn't available in my local theater, and the nearest theater available is too far and doesn't fit my work schedule.
I'm going to have to wait for it to come out on streaming services.
I just got through the Sacred Kingdom arc in the LN, so I'm GREATLY looking forward to the movie!
I tell you, I loved every second of that movie. There were parts that were funny, and there were parts that were extremely serious. I really feel bad for the princess, if only she knew about runes.
looking forward to the cut content.
Just watched it yesterday, it was awesome
I have seen it and would love some clarification on who the prince realy is at the end.
I haven't seen it but I figure it was a Movie that tells you what happened between Seasons 3 & 4. But learning it happens during the season was interesting.
the new movie is soooooo good please do a cut content ASAP
Yo I’d really love to actually see the damn movie. It’s really stupid it was only available for a SINGLE DAY and not available for purchase on Crunchyroll for who knows how long.
This is so unbelievably scummy I’m sick of practices like this. Why do I have to wait months? The movie is out and ready. Just post it behind a paywall like a movie. How Amazon prime does it. I don’t wanna wait HALF A FRICKEN YEAR
Holy crap, now with more context, Ainz's malevolent in the eyes of Sacred Kingdom have become greater, since he annihilate the culprit that disrupted the disaster relief effort
I for one am shocked we didn't get an announcement for season 5
The movie was amazing!
Just watched it and I thought Ainz trying to advertise his runes throughout the movie was so funny
I saw it on the 1st night, kinda wished i rewatch the few eps leading to it. It was abit different than what i expected.
Lowkey hoped i got to see Brain led a hand 🥺
Did appreciate 1 of the maids getting some screen time and know abit more about them.
The movie was outstanding! The whole premise of Overlord and his guild the movie just reminded us that Evil and Justice are relative to the strong vs the weak! Anyone know when they're going to show it in Crunchyroll?
I was supposed to watch it last night have to wait next Saturday ugh imax lets go
Thank You!
More overlord content plz!❤
Arifureta season 3 when will you make a video?
Please sam! Make cut content on it as soon as you can 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This movie was great. I saw some light novel readers had beef which gets me excited for Cut Content. But as an anime andy I had a lot of fun watching the movie.
Yes yes yes but did you see that BOW with "once though lost" rune technology??
I wish i knew where to buy one!
Honestly, this is the only anime tuber i can watch. His voice is too smooth
I literally just came home from watching the movie, it was beautiful
Saw the movie in dub yesterday it was amazing I was surprised by how much people they were in the theater more than 20
Great movie and I’m glad the succubae jackets are back!
