I watched the movie last night and I can say I agreed with most of you points. One thing I also wish they went harder on was the brutality. Specifically with opening scene with calca and remedious. The light novel does such a good job of showing how horrified and confused remedious is while calca is described so viscerally. Was honestly kind of a let down. On a more positive note, my favorite moments had to be neya’s last stand. The action was great, everything flowed perfectly, and I remember the whole theater falling silent when she died. If there is anything I could have wished for, it would be that the movie had better pacing and less cuts, but overall I think the movie was pretty good. 7/10 in my book. Watch in IMAX if you can. It’s worth it.
@ yes, but sadly not enough of it. Also, not as good of a club as jaldabaoth claimed. Such low durability. Breaking into pieces when striking one paladin…….5/10.
The main flaw of the movie was, as most predicted when it was announced, that it was a feature length *movie* trying to fit 2 Volumes of content into a 2 hour runtime; so naturally not everything made the cut and a lot of stuff was skimmed through at a breakneck pace. To the point that, unless you have the context for a lot of stuff from the novels, you might struggle to keep up at points. Still, the highest praise I can give is that this feels like a full and proper new season of Overlord that was just given a higher budget. Its a solid 7.5-8/10 in my opinion and well worth a watch.

I went with my brother who had seen it, but I didn't, and we both really liked it. Director succeeded at making a good movie for everyone. That being said, I don't think I could get myself into the show because of how manipulative Ainz truly is.
Watching the movie my perspective on it kept kind of shifting between viewing it from the perspective of someone who read the light novels, someone who didn't read the novels but watched the anime and someone who didn't read the novels nor watched the anime and this movie is their first introduction to the Overlord story. This is in part because of how my own experience with Overlord had been seeing the anime first and then learning of the cut content from the light novels, so I couldn't help but put myself into different shoes as one of the three possible viewers. If this movie was your first introduction to Overlord you'd be so confused, but if the anime was your introduction into Overlord that larger context still leaves pitfalls in understanding for some of what's going on, because the cut content is alluded to or implied as if you must fill in the gaps yourself and figure it out, you can tell there's something missing there. For example all the scenes where Ainz' underlings are playacting a dramatic salespitch for runic weapons, but since it's never explicitly addressed in the movie as a newcomer to the story you're just left baffled, while as someone who has the knowledge of the anime you're aware of the Dwarves arc and are sort of waiting for the explanation to drop or these scenes to be addressed, yet they never are so you're just left hanging. Meanwhile if you know this specific arc in full details because you've read the Light Novels you can be disappointed by how much was left out but when you see the stuff you're really excited for actually play out, the movie really nails those parts and I was ecstatic for them, enough to forgive some of the cut content. It's a weird experience that I never had with book to movie adaptations, I think it is in part due to this being a movie that fits into an anime series, but I can't quite put my finger on the reason why.
I'm somewhat disappointed as many of the dark moments were actually still cut out. This was supposed to be the darkest chapter yet, but the movie is only mildly dark due to the best/worst moments just being completely cut out. Especially when Ainz solved the hostage situation. SPOILER BELOW, DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! Before Ainz sends a "warm gift" to the child, there was another hostage that was actually taken out by the beastmen themselves. This changed the entire viewpoint of the situation as Reimidios her hesitation costed the hostage's life. Not only that, she still kept the same attitude when the second hostage was presented. So just skipping that and going directly to Ainz sending a Fireball their way makes it seem as Reimidios could have solved the situation, while Ainz acted hastily. Then they also skip the whole chaos inside the city that Ainz his monsters caurse, beastmen and humans alike hurting themselves, as the fear aura from Ainz's monsters just send everyone in a mindless panic. And the fight of Mighty King Buser was just completely skipped. The worst part was that it actually hyped up towards the fight with Ainz going in, only to skip it. I swear everyone got blueballed there. Its true that the action is not the main focus of the series. But its still a great moment when it happens. When the battles of the Sacred Kingdom happened in the novels, I could not stop reading due to how intense those moments were (even if Ainz was mostly untroubled the entire time.) Don't get me wrong, its still a great movie, and the music and sound was incredible. But I feel like it would have been better if it would just have been serialized instead like the previous seasons, so that there would have been enough time to show everything. Then release a movie later again like they did before (a recap movie)
I can answer the question "who would watch this if they never saw the anime?" I did. I watched it because I like movies that stand out from others, in this case, I had never seen an anime get released in IMAX. I went just to experience anime on an IMAX screen. I went in not expecting to understand anything or to even like it, but I can say I 100% agree with this review. I had no idea what was going on for the first 20 mins, however; this movie did an excellent job of delivering enough information within the film that I was able to understand the story. I think focusing on the main girl worked well because it helped keep the plot focused and it was easy to follow because I learned most things as the main character did. Things never got too complicated, and the movie was very well paced. The twists and turns of the plot and politics of the diffent groups were entertaining and kept surprising me. When the credits rolled, I was so invested in the story that I didn't want it to end because I wanted to know what would happen next. The pairing of the two girls for the last 30 kins or so was my favorite part. Their dynamic was so hilarious I was laughing for most of the time they shared the screen. I'm glad I watched it, and think that both fans and those new to the series, can both enjoy it.
I gave it an "Overlord Madhouse/10" 🤷 I got what i was expecting, but i did love seeing best girl and Shizu animated, also, when the bow was revealed, the audience laughed, that's when i knew i was sharing a room with other fans of the novel and not just regulars or anime onlys, there was a dude behind me explaining to his girlfriend some of the little bits, he also sounded offended when they didn't initially show the holy club scene and there was another girl just having a blast every time Runecraft was brought in. It was personally nice seeing other fans honestly, like i said, i was expecting what i saw, but i enjoyed the viewing nonetheless.
As an anime only, I loved the movie! If you are a fan of Overlord you should definitely see it. TBH I would give the movie a straight up 8/10, the only thing that held it back slightly was the pacing but that's to be expected when you try to fit 2 volumes into 1 2h movie. Overall, this arch has actually probably been one of my favourites, super brutal and (minor spoiler) gotta love bone daddies product placement and propaganda machine.
Oh, as an anime only fan I TOTALLY get why they cut away from that gruesome scene. The Holy Knight seemed to be in denial for so Iong it built up suspense becaus WE didn't know if she was still alive. Come to find out she was basically dead and the Holy Knight was GRUESOMELY broken out of denial when she was hot with her dead body
I'm ngl, for all the faults and scenes that got cut from the LNs I still thought it was great. Solid 8/10 for me. My wife has no idea about the series and said she ended up enjoying it a lot more than she initially imagined lol.
11:13 I get where you're coming from, I had that same opinion for years until i found out just how many people are willing to watch a movie without having seen any of what came before it. I've seen multiple people watch sequels to movies without ever seeing the originals
Ngnl i was a bit dissapointed with how they did the final twist It was set up like a casual mystery in the first volume of the ark and solved in the second so people had time to speculate and scrutinies looking for clues The perspective changes also helped with the mystery
Hey, I'm the weirdo that watched this movie with no prior knowledge or experience with Overlord. It's a VASTLY different film if you do. You mentioned that they cut out a lot of Ainz's inner monologue, and this might have gone over your head as a fan of the anime, but the movie straight up does not reveal that Ainz is evil and is Yaldebaoth's superior until the very end of the film. So from my perspective, everything was actually real and Ainz was meant to be the hero everyone thought he was up until that big reveal. It's a wild ride coming into it from that point of view, and really recontextualizes Ainz from being what I thought was a generic isekai power fantasy protagonist into a charismatic narcissist and Neia from what I thought was a typical unquestioning, overly submissive love interest into a character study on emotional manipulation and cult grooming.
I just watched it earlier, and I totally agree that the early scenes jump around a lot, which makes it really confusing, especially if you’re an anime-only watcher. Thankfully, I’ve read the light novel, so I could fill in some gaps. The movie also doesn’t do a great job of explaining the Theocracy Kingdom, especially when it comes to the princess’s background and motivations. A bit more context about her would have improve the movie better
Just came back from it as well! Loved seeing Ainz on big screen and I think Baraja was done perfectly. I missed Ainz internal monologue, but I can understand why they skipped it in a movie adaptation. Overall - it was very good :D
2:14 Subs did the same. Demiurge said King, then the Knight lady said Queen that later becomes Princess. My BIGGIST disappointment were the absolute abysmal fights and cut out fights. The intro action scene of "Jaldabaoth" was what i though i was going to see through out the movie but no. At this point all the action scenes are blurs to me due to how disappointing I remembering them. My likes Is the quality like omg intro scene damn. Seeing the Sorcerer Kingdom out and in. New demi-humans and my main love of Overlord, its brutality (for a bit). Oh and the Subbed movie was aired at 10PM (WTF) by my Cinema. Halfway I almost fell asleep because of slowed pace after the first big fight.
I 100% agree. I wanted to see those fight scenes from the perspective of Ainz because you only saw glimpse. On the other hand it made it look like two gods fighting on a big scale
Agree a lot about the beginning; when I watched it, I was like: "Damn, I sure am glad I know the light novel because anime onlys would be super-confused there!" Wish they didn't skip over the Remedios/Calca/Kelart interactions from the early parts, I feel it would have given more weight to the story later on. Currently, it kinda feels like this "alright, those characters are important, but why should I care about them" kind of situation. Calca and Kelart didn't even get a proper job introduction, let alone characterisation, I feel. ^^' I wonder if both cutting out the interactions and having this weirdly segmented early confrontation had to do with adopting Neia's POV...? As in, she wasn't there for early Remedios/Calca/Kelart interactions, and also initially skipping over what happened to Calca might have had to do with Neia being served the narration of Calca being merely taken away to an unknown location? Still, I agree all that segmenting was unnecessary there, and keeping it integrated and concise might have allowed cutting down some interactions and freeing up runtime for other things... ...like the intermission of volume 13! To say I was disappointed would be an overstatement - rationally speaking I knew the scene was fairly disposable - but I wished I could see it animated still!
I love this series so much. Overlord has grown very quickly to be my number one anime. Having you making Overlord content is also incredible. Please keep it up. But I would love to have more discussions about overlord. Do you use X or anything? My first question for you is: When you watch Overlord do you get sad about the idea of it ending in 2 more novels? If so what do you do about that?
I watched this review, then saw the movie and finally rewatched the review. You are spot on; I really love Neia throughout this movie. I was the only one in the theater to watch the sub.
I had the great pleasure of watching it in theaters twice, once subbed and once dubbed. While I overall prefer the subbed (it is better with Ainz comedy and voices generally), the dub is actually quite good. Sadly the worst voices in the dub are demiurge and inner monologue Ainz, but basically everything else is absolutely fantastic. I think that there are about 5-10 minutes of this movie that smooth out so many of the issues, like Neia’s outburst, the bufolk killing the hostage and some more conversation between Ainz and Neia. While I love Overlord for its story, I do wish we had also gotten a little more spectacle, with Buser and with Jaldabaoth + Pleiades. However, visually I had almost no complaints. Your point about CGI is true, but I’d rather have some visual consistency with some familiar monsters (not the same with Gonlin army or Re Estize army). I could gush about this movie for a while and though it has significant flaws, they closed it out brilliantly. All my friends in the theater (anime onlies) were absolutely stunned by the reveal as we were getting hit with wheeler dealer
It should have been so much more brutal. It is a rated R movie, and yet by the end I did not feel like demiurge was depicted as the true monster he truly is. At the very least have some of the prisoners tell the knights what was going on with Demis tests and how he treated the demi human races. Yes we got the single scene where he rips off the sholder of the one at the start. But it just was not enough.
Just watched it and saved your video for after I had seen it. Movie was amazing it got me to tears ngl, I was just so happy seeing overlord back on screen
I really liked the opening scene of Jaldabaoth attacking the city with his Demi-human army and showed just how brutal and demonic he is to both friend and foe. The opening really set a grim and bleak tone you can feel through the paladins and Neia through the beginning of the movie. Not everything that I wanted to see was shown and certain cuts were made to save time and budget, but the movie is great overall. Definitely a must watch for Overlord fans.
After watching the movie, as mostly an anime watcher it wanted me to really get back into reading the novel because I barely touched it and wanted to see what i missed out on, the movie did feel a bit weird for me at first but overall I really did enjoy it tho! I recently got back into rewatching some of the show and your content for the movie and can't wait to see your breakdown of it whenever it comes so ill be looking forward to it :)
going to watch the movie on thursday. But personally i dont really expect them to fully commit to follow on the entire 2 books since most of that was just Ainz PoV breaking down every details he sees, think and goofy troupes. I hope the last fight will be a hype glorious screams of victory while the Ainz fanatics chant Sorcerous king in their battle cries
I already was fairly confident that the movie would be great but after hearing your thought i have no doubt I will enjoy it. Thank you for being spoiler free, or at least to the point I had no idea what you were talking about. I am really looking forward to seeing the movie even more now. Considering it was made out of 2 books I look forward to seeing all your breakdowns and skipped content videos.
My take on maybe why that scene was cut up was because of the way they were developing the two characters. The polarization of Remedios and Neia felt like a primary focus of the movie with of course the dark underlining of us knowing the reality of the situation. That said, I think they felt the PTSD invoking moment for Remedios was something worth saving as sort of a "ah ha" moment as to why she was acting so furiously. I ultimately don't think it was necessary to break it up, as it felt repetitive to me, and could have easily used that time for expanding the main battle between Lord Ainz and Jaldabaoth. All in all, I actually enjoyed the toning down of the sexually suggestive moments and it was actually fairly tame rating wise. Not sure if that is pro or con really.
So I typically make a point to watch the anime content first before reading the LN. I'll be starting volume 12 either tonight or tomorrow morning but even without reading it yet I could tell that it was racing through content like crazy. For example, in volume 14 Aniz talks about telling the floor guardians that he purposely made a mistake of some sort but the movie didn't touch on that at all. That being said, I did really enjoy the movie and highly suggest any fan of the series to watch it in theaters if they're able to.
I haven't watched Overlord in a couple of years and didn't even know a movie was coming out until two hours ago. It just so happens to be playing at a theater 5 minutes from me. I guess I'll go.
I went to the early matinee showing on Monday morning It was being shown in the largest auditorium and it was entirely just me in the theater so I basically got a private showing just for myself It was quite the experience what a great film.
It's only in theaters today; Nov 8th. So if you didn't see it today you'll have to wait for Crunchyroll to license it, buy a blu-ray, or sail the open seas.
@@dannya951 I don't know. Possibly. Even Crunchyroll said 1 day only but it's possible Crunchyroll was playing to my region as well. That said I honestly thought San Diego would be a big enough market with all the cultural festivals we have here that intersect with anime that if there was a place with multiple showings it would be here. Weird.
After seeing the premiere of this theatrical masterpiece, I had to follow it up by seeing it again all day afterwards so that I could have a gang of mementos in the form of the ticket stubs.... I was completely enthralled throughout the entire presentation... And my suspension of disbelief was well-deserved being where it was at 🧐
Just came back from watching it loved it. From being originally a anime only, to reading all the novels, I loved this. Pretty much agree with everything he said, the king queen thing was a bit off, my only major complaint is nearing the end, there’s a part in the books I wanted to see involving different soildet perspectives facing yalde that I really wanted to see but honestly that’s just a personal opinion. Loved the big n the little fights, seeing neia brought to life and them doing a good job of portraying that stare she’s got n seeing reimedos reactions and expressions, twas amazing. I know they changed a bit from the book, but I’m very contempt and satisfied with what we got.
I loved the movie overall but did anyone else expect the sky to open up like that scene from naruto when Demiurge called down a meteor? I was maybe a little unreasonably disappointed when it was just a small one.
Best review so far, not surprised coming from someone that is obviously a fan ,read the novel and even owns the books. Thanks for the review! Interesting points about the action focus expectations, the volume 12 pacing, weird cut choices by production. Looking forward to your LN comparison video
Yeah, it's true. Overlord is more about story and character building. The side charavters are almoat main chatacers and have to be set up, so that they can be used by Ains, either to support him or to have a downfall to raise Ains. It makes sense to have a shorter movie be more action packed in case normies watch it. A normal season is 13 eps. I wouldn't mind a 4hr movie lol. The movie was overall satisfying if you're a big fan of Overlord.
As a hater of Overlord i liked this movie, it was more grounded than anime, less cringy moments, or pure Ainz's flex moments. Remedios was the most likeable character ever shown in this show, even though I guess majority will heavly disaagree with me on this.
I watched last night ( was dope bc had theather to self 😆) the dubbed referred to her as sacred princess not queen. But the story directive shes the queen. Her title was not
A season would be 13 episodes. 24 mins each episode = 312 mins = 5.2 hours. The movie is 2 hr so if it was made into a season it would cover a lot more. But the quality wouldn't be as great compared to a movie with a high budget.
Also wait to the end there's an ending credit scene! The movie heavily relies on the audience being a fan of the books. Not even the show, but the books. They skip through a ton of information just like the anime to get to the most entertaining parts. Obviously not every adaptation can't be one to one, books I have the same as movies or TV shows. But they skip a lot with zero care about pacing. And they are just assume you understand that the information that they skip is not worth the time to animate. And for movies they tend to animate more versus a TV show where they can get away with having the character on screen with just the same three frames of lip flap cycling through for a moment. I did wish they would have hang on the sites a little more with the Spells being casted. It's been a moment since I read the book but I'm pretty sure they dropped a nuclear bomb twice. They also Quickly cost over what the battle was with the maids. And why that was special and like the two clips they showed of the maids engaging in combat. And why the way the battle was fought was so special. They did at least name drop what type of creatures were there. Try not to spoil everything, but you have to know what those creatures are what the positive negatives of that creature and then understand that the maids are low enough power that they shouldn't be able to do damage to Ainz, but then they are shown doing damage. And it gives us context to another character that has zero screen time and like half of two sentences of book time. Also if you never read the books or you skipped season 3 you be really struggling understand why everyone's laughing at rune craft TM.
I was the only one in the movie theater in Pittsburgh PA. Different from watching the SAO movie in theaters in Jacksonville FL back in 2017. Don't know if it's just a difference in popularity and/or region. Or just if movie theaters are on the way out.
I follow all the Overlord content and surprisingly didn't like the film for a few reasons: 1. Fights are too quick and don't resolve; they just 'end' or they cut away from the finale. 2. Other fights and meetings just suddenly cut to characters giving exposition of what happened. 3. Violence is gratuitous and mostly just shock value. Calca's death scene and it's aftermath was just gross. 4. Felt really drawn out and boring following Neia and Delta around after Ainz's 'defeat'. Of all the places they could of trimmed some of the time from, this is it. 5. Ainz "our hero" secretly being behind all the death and tragedy heavily cuts into the character growth, tension, and many of the otherwise solid scenes in the story.
I really enjoyed it. While i wish we saw more of the battles and perspectives of the soldiers against demi, i understand that there was lots of content to cram in. Seeing more of the initial invasion would have made the movie three hours long. Maybe theyll make it a complete season later?? I wanted to see more brutality and close up shots of Ainz fighting but oh well. It more than made up for it with the world building and humor. The interactions and very obvious manipulations were very entertaining. Super Ultra Shooting Star or whatever got me rolling
@ DID YOU SAY RUNE WEAPONS!?!?!?! YOU MEAN THE LOST TECHNOLOGY SAID TO BE SO POWERFUL IT COULD RIVAL EVEN THE DEMON JALDABAOTH!?!??! HOW DID YOU GET YOUR HANDS ON SUCH POWERFUL ITEMS????
I want to see the movie so bad but the closest theater is nearly 2 hours away from my house and has weird times. I am glad you enjoyed it though. It sounds so cool!
This movie was more of a montage than a cohesive story. Even with the cutoff and focus on the action scenes, it still fell off because the action was still very limited from the lack of proper buildup
I just got back from seeing the movie myself (the Dub unfortunately - I’m a Sub fan), and I think it’s overall, pretty good. My biggest issues were 1. the dialogue - not sure if it’s too different in the sub (the essence won’t be), but it was just clunky and even cringey at times, especially Ainz. Like it was taken line for line from English LN adaptation. Not to say it should differ from source material, but we can all agree it doesn’t necessarily flow well. 2. The cuts - kinda took me out of the story, and made me think it was more like multiple episodes of a show simply combined into the length of a film. My favorite bits, as usual, were whenever Ainz was caught off guard by this followers fanatical loyalty and belief in him, especially Neia. I also thoroughly enjoyed Ainz’s attempts to advertise his runic weaponry.

I gave it an "Overlord Madhouse/10" 🤷
I got what i was expecting, but i did love seeing best girl and Shizu animated, also, when the bow was revealed, the audience laughed, that's when i knew i was sharing a room with other fans of the novel and not just regulars or anime onlys, there was a dude behind me explaining to his girlfriend some of the little bits, he also sounded offended when they didn't initially show the holy club scene and there was another girl just having a blast every time Runecraft was brought in.
It was personally nice seeing other fans honestly, like i said, i was expecting what i saw, but i enjoyed the viewing nonetheless.
I want a season 5 so I will definitely support this movie.
Neia was such an awesome character. I cried throughout the movie with her. Her passion and feelings resonated with me deeply
What is that powerful weapon? Is that a weapon that can harm me and kill me made with rune™ technology? 😱
Neia: My lips are sealed
I'm ngl, for all the faults and scenes that got cut from the LNs I still thought it was great. Solid 8/10 for me. My wife has no idea about the series and said she ended up enjoying it a lot more than she initially imagined lol.
11:13 I get where you're coming from, I had that same opinion for years until i found out just how many people are willing to watch a movie without having seen any of what came before it. I've seen multiple people watch sequels to movies without ever seeing the originals
Ngnl i was a bit dissapointed with how they did the final twist
It was set up like a casual mystery in the first volume of the ark and solved in the second so people had time to speculate and scrutinies looking for clues
The perspective changes also helped with the mystery
I watched it with my GF who did not know Overlord. She had a great time.
as an anime only, I was not confused at all
I just watched it earlier, and I totally agree that the early scenes jump around a lot, which makes it really confusing, especially if you’re an anime-only watcher.
I remember a 10 second quick internal Ainz monologue which got a few chuckles in the theater.
Agree a lot about the beginning; when I watched it, I was like: "Damn, I sure am glad I know the light novel because anime onlys would be super-confused there!"
Wish they didn't skip over the Remedios/Calca/Kelart interactions from the early parts, I feel it would have given more weight to the story later on. Currently, it kinda feels like this "alright, those characters are important, but why should I care about them" kind of situation. Calca and Kelart didn't even get a proper job introduction, let alone characterisation, I feel. ^^'
I wonder if both cutting out the interactions and having this weirdly segmented early confrontation had to do with adopting Neia's POV...? As in, she wasn't there for early Remedios/Calca/Kelart interactions, and also initially skipping over what happened to Calca might have had to do with Neia being served the narration of Calca being merely taken away to an unknown location? Still, I agree all that segmenting was unnecessary there, and keeping it integrated and concise might have allowed cutting down some interactions and freeing up runtime for other things...
...like the intermission of volume 13! To say I was disappointed would be an overstatement - rationally speaking I knew the scene was fairly disposable - but I wished I could see it animated still!
I think I’ll see the circlet in my nightmares
I love this series so much. Overlord has grown very quickly to be my number one anime.
Having you making Overlord content is also incredible. Please keep it up.
But I would love to have more discussions about overlord. Do you use X or anything?
My first question for you is:
When you watch Overlord do you get sad about the idea of it ending in 2 more novels? If so what do you do about that?
I watched this review, then saw the movie and finally rewatched the review. You are spot on; I really love Neia throughout this movie. I was the only one in the theater to watch the sub.
I'm disappointed that the movie wasn't being shown in any theatre's near me
same here , in middle EU , lets just wait for cam rip , or just as many other times PIRATES
@@MatejStefan How long will it take to be on a streaming service so that we at least have WEB RIP resolution?
@@charles69326probably a couple months at most
@@MatejStefan I say wait for a hd/pirate version, cam is very bad audio wise.
@@phengooogaming
Is there any cam rip available?
20-30 more minutes would have smoothed it out a good bit.
Yeah I wish they could have just hit 2 hours and 30 minutes and squeezed a little more in
I really liked the opening scene of Jaldabaoth attacking the city with his Demi-human army and showed just how brutal and demonic he is to both friend and foe. The opening really set a grim and bleak tone you can feel through the paladins and Neia through the beginning of the movie. Not everything that I wanted to see was shown and certain cuts were made to save time and budget, but the movie is great overall. Definitely a must watch for Overlord fans.
Neia is the mvp of the movie haha
After watching the movie, as mostly an anime watcher it wanted me to really get back into reading the novel because I barely touched it and wanted to see what i missed out on, the movie did feel a bit weird for me at first but overall I really did enjoy it tho! I recently got back into rewatching some of the show and your content for the movie and can't wait to see your breakdown of it whenever it comes so ill be looking forward to it :)
Told my friend to watch Overlord because I was bringing him no matter what he didn’t but he still enjoyed the movie.
going to watch the movie on thursday.
Considering it was made out of 2 books I look forward to seeing all your breakdowns and skipped content videos.
you can definitely feel when they cut parts off or just cropped scenes to make it shorter
I'm so happy I got to wacth this in theaters. I'm in the process of getting all of the light novels, can't wait to complete the collection :D
I hope they adapt it to the anime and add the missing parts
I watched it on Thursday and it had me so hyped to finally have more content for the anime
Bro did you see the after credit scene? I also hope they do a tv anime adaptation to give us more detail and put the missing parts in.
that would be great. so many missing parts. they didnt even talk to blue rose
It's only in theaters today; Nov 8th. So if you didn't see it today you'll have to wait for Crunchyroll to license it, buy a blu-ray, or sail the open seas.
It’s playing near me through most of next week. Maybe that’s just for your region.
Weird.
It's Nov 8th through 13th. I even had an early showing I went to on the 7th.
I’m so glad you said you’ll do multiple videos
God knows when it'll finally pop up on Crunchyroll.
After seeing the premiere of this theatrical masterpiece, I had to follow it up by seeing it again all day afterwards so that I could have a gang of mementos in the form of the ticket stubs.... I was completely enthralled throughout the entire presentation... And my suspension of disbelief was well-deserved being where it was at 🧐
The movie finally came out! Good! Now give us another season already!
I hope everyone stayed after credits, there is a few more minutes of video.
We need the breakdown! I had so many questions!
I was so excited to see the movie. But damn, idk what was wrong with it. It never got my attention. I fell a sleep multiple times
So conversational! And maybe 10 minutes of screen time with characters we care for
Just came back from watching it loved it.
I found the movie incredibly boring 90% conversational, walked out the theater for the first time in my life and overlord itself is my favorite anime
Trails music, nice.
I hope there will be a season 5 soon maybe next year
As a hater of Overlord i liked this movie, it was more grounded than anime, less cringy moments, or pure Ainz's flex moments. Remedios was the most likeable character ever shown in this show, even though I guess majority will heavly disaagree with me on this.
I watched last night ( was dope bc had theather to self 😆) the dubbed referred to her as sacred princess not queen. But the story directive shes the queen. Her title was not
I haven't seen all the anime yet, but I think I'll see the movie at theaters while I can
I will see it in Japanese with subtitles
If you're a fan of overlord go watch it,if you're not better not.
Thank god I'm a fan and I'm really excited to go watch the movie!
I wish I had known there was an after credit scene before I went to see it. Oh well, I'm sure I will see you at one of these days
Your opinion about what makes Overlord so great? Yeah that isn't just an opinion, it's a fact
id still watch it if they make the movie into season 5 with no cuts
A season would be 13 episodes. 24 mins each episode = 312 mins = 5.2 hours. The movie is 2 hr so if it was made into a season it would cover a lot more. But the quality wouldn't be as great compared to a movie with a high budget.
it's sad...overlord needs a faithful adaptation. The LNs are so good
Also wait to the end there's an ending credit scene!
Great adaptation and the animation was peak. Its not easy transferring two books into a movie but they did it pretty well
Gonna just put this here to help the algorithm in your favor Kiba. Will watch this video after I see the movie myself tomorrow. ^_^
Absolutely love how they kept trying to puswethe rune bow lmfao 😂 it was hilarious
The ending was dope as'f
I saw the movie yesterday in New York 42nd street on IMAX it was awesome
I haven't seen it yet, but I hope it's as bloody as it is in novel
I was the only one in the movie theater in Pittsburgh PA. Different from watching the SAO movie in theaters in Jacksonville FL back in 2017. Don't know if it's just a difference in popularity and/or region. Or just if movie theaters are on the way out.
You are the Asian Jeff Wittick
I think they should have made to movies
I follow all the Overlord content and surprisingly didn't like the film for a few reasons:
In general I would say the movie is great! the recognition of bow, the runes technology. lol
I actually rewatched the show just so the movie would be awesome am finishing off season 4 after i watched the movie everything in order
I watched it in cinema, but i was the only person there, i had the whole theatre to myself, it was weird
Thanks!

I want to see the movie so bad but the closest theater is nearly 2 hours away from my house and has weird times. I am glad you enjoyed it though. It sounds so cool!
yeah we had to drive an hour and a half to the nearest theater
This movie was more of a montage than a cohesive story. Even with the cutoff and focus on the action scenes, it still fell off because the action was still very limited from the lack of proper buildup
The movie is a little dissapointing as it miss most of the plot, and too many scence jump.
i wonder if there are any streamer platform so I can view it online
Neia Baraja is best character in Overlord. Please tell me we see more of her in the novels cause that movie got me reading it. Big rune up 1000%
I give the movie a 3/10
I watched it too, to be honest, remidios design is hot.
Where can I watch it please? It is not in cinema in my country.
6:02 iirc it was from the anime (and movie) director on the overlord website put out before the movie release
Damn. Movie is still not out in Singapore! SOS
