How dare you hecking get caught drinking in your personal life, that is UNPROFESSIONAL and you should be IMMEDIATELY SUED for VIOLATION of THE law and professional stanDARDS
Yep it's like people can't become a doctor or a surgeon but accuses them for the dress and lifestyle they use instead of thanking them for saving people s life .They too have to go out and drink just the people, they are people too.I want to see the authors of the article in spacesuits and snow jackets on a sunny beach.
"doctors shouldn't talk about gun control" sure, because doctors never have to deal with bullet wounds or suicidal patients or anything like that, right?
Yeah like suicidal people we do need advise you know I'm not suicidal but they do need a medical professionals advise so they can get help not much people are trustworthy. So doctors should speak up we need em
much like doctors are not qualified to lecture on the civil engineering solutions to traffic because they death with crash victims, they are not experts at firearm legislation because they can treat bullet wounds.
Doctors are suppose to be in HEALTHcare. There is too much of an emphasis on what procedure, drugs, operation cures or heals the illness and not enough on preventative measures help you not get sick in the first place. Some people like to decompress at the club with a good dance and a drink or 2, dancing is awesome exercise and it's always good to destress and get some endorphins going, going for a swim on the beach in the ocean (some in a bikini) swimming is awesome fun and amazing exercise, being out in nature, TERRIFIC, having deep soul enriching conversations with friends who sometimes post those thoughts on social media for a discussion, great way too broaden horizons and open up your mind, think of things from different perspectives greatly improves bedside manner and so on and so forth. The list is endless of what people like to do when they're not at work. Why are we disparaging what people do off work as long as they're professional at work, WHO THE F*** CARES!!!!! Who wants a doctor who's overworked, highly stressed and obsessed with work, that's the most unhealthy lifestyle.
I feel like knowing your doctor has an outside life makes me feel more comfortable with them. When I’m getting tests run we like to talk about family and things like that, it makes them seem more genuine
in medicine it does tho. of course it depends on the culture, but a good rapport from the first meeting with a physician is important in building trust and later on compliance to treatment procedures. eg, if a physician dye his/her hair in color in my country, the elderly patient won't take him seriously.
Well the swim suit is definitely an exaggeration the same could be said for hair, piercings and tattoos and one's cultural. Over all I don't care as long as they know what their doing but more conservative people/traditional people would be uncomfortable if a doctor someone who is supposed to be clean and refined was covered in tattoos and had more metal then a car on their face.
@@ryuudraco592 I completely agree, it's sad that people will judge a person's entire character based off of their appearance. There is something really reassuring about someone in uniform though ngl
@Froggy Noddy hah! Yes shirtless pics are not something common at alllllllllllllllll , matter of fact, since you're saying male not just generally doctors, I have by far seen many more girls recieve D pics from strangers than guys receiving nudes from strangers.. or from people they ask, send nudes is like Hi for some guys istg😂 (not many ofc, but shirtless and swim wear ones and gym pics are manyyyy)
@Froggy Noddy also, it's kinda very stupid you're saying that in the channel of a male doctor that does have swim wear pics from years ago before all of this happened. You're probably just a sexist so you totally ignored this fact that is right in your face ig
@Froggy Noddy what if they do? Like if modelling a bikini on Instagram isn't illegal in the doctors' country, are we really entitled to judge them? It's their life, if they aren't doing anything illegal or anything that's hurting someone, who are we to judge?
"Wearing full surgical wear including gloves and mask and went to the beach" Yeah, dr mike going to surf in full surgical wear trying to dissecting the wave
When I was in Holland, I had a scare because I had a bug bite that looked like a deer tick bite. When I went to the doctor there, he was in a t shirt and jeans. I was taken aback because every doctor that I had met with before this was either in scrubs or a white coat and spoke in an extremely professional manner. This doctor in Holland was easily the most approachable and understandable doctor that I had encountered. There is no doubt in my mind that it was because I knew he was just a guy who had the advice I needed rather than a cookie cutter advice giving machine
Why would you freak out about a single deer tick bite? Unless it was showing symptoms of an infection you shouldn’t be worried about visiting a doctor every time. I get bitten by ticks often unfortunately and I thoroughly look for them. If I ever had any symptom of an infection I will visit a doctor.
That’s the point. These people like to be vague so that if they’re called out on their bs, they’ll probably go waaaay out there and describe their reasoning as sound, even if it’s really pushing the description.
I once almost drowned after going into shock and passing out in a pool. Some idiot had jumped on me from the 5-meter (about 16.7 feet) diving tower and I breathed in a ton of water, plus the sudden pain of someone plummeting feet first on the base of my sciatic nerve (just above the left buttock) was simply too much. The guy who dragged me out of the pool and gave me first aid was a young doctor. He was also wearing tiiiny Speedos. I honestly couldn’t have cared less if he was buck naked, I’m just thankful he helped me in his Speedos instead of leaving me floating face-down in the pool while he went to put more clothes on.
Thank you for being both an ethical and REAL human Dr. Mike! If all physicians were as honest, tactful, ethical, and approachable as you are when dealing with both patients and public, we would truly have an amazing top notch system of awesome physicians! 👩🔬🧑🔬❤
Ya how can we trust a doctor who wears "beachwear" at a "beach" 😑😂. Infact we must all wear our work clothes at all times so that people know how good we are at our jobs 🙄🙄
I don't think its that much of a surprise honestly. And not something to roll your eyes at. Most people have what I can only describe as "movie protagonist complex", where they think of themselves as the main character, and everyone else as side characters in the movie of their life. They're too lazy to build anything more than a one-dimensional image of the people they meet, and they get uneasy when people don't fut into their idea of the side character they pictured them to be. They want to see doctors as lifeless professionals existing only for their health, and nothing else.
My mom told me she was called to the principal's office this one time because a parent reported that she was at a concert in a bar with friends late at night on a weekend while wearing casual clothing... Edit: He apologized, but it was still a ridiculous anecdote.
I remember seeing my middle school art teacher while working, at like 16 yearsold, He was smoking. I was so shocked I didnt even say hi to him 🤣 he was my favorite teacher too. I understood later, but it is shocking to see a teacher outside school doing something you never imagined them doing.
Actually, the only times a doctor is allowed to get into water is to clean themselves so they can treat patients more safely and hygienically. Why should a doctor even swim in the first place? They shouldn't even leave their office. Do they not understand that they're doctors? And they're not allowed to take breaks?
Speaking of doctors seeming mega professional and that being bad, that’s actually why I like this channel, because it shows a fun, more silly and personal side of a doctor. We can also see this by the fact of how many people question whether or not Mike is a real doctor.
@@balance-x602 Once again they didn't study just females. Or atleast i think so. I think they just consider women in bikins unethical because you're not supposed to be in a bikini on the beach i guess? Sexist? Definitely.
I heard they...brace yourself are you ready? They wear pjs when they sleep....like how unprofessional could you be next thing you know they'll be having lives
The lack of "bewoop" and smiles really show how serious Dr. Mike is about this topic. Thank you for covering this! Edit: Dang, there's a bewoop vs pewoop debate in the replies now
@Chris George The study is fairly pointless on it's own, it's just a partial statistics report. To be fair however, I didn't really see any blatant sexism in it.
showing other people that you're a living human too DOES help build trust between patients and doctors. It shows your honesty and integrity both as a person and a doctor. Patients didn't have to guess what kind of person you are behind your professional act because you show that you have nothing to hide and that's actually great. plus, i'd trust my life with a doctor who's actually having fun more than those who are too grumpy to have fun because, and i quote Elle Woods, "happy people just don't kill"
...and who gets to decide...if anyone, should be a consensus among the doctor community and no one else...these are doctors, the brightest among the public...somehow I think the majority of them know the difference between professional and unprofessional
Actually, going on twitter and taking part in mob crowds against half of the population, or making racist remarks about other countries you don't like the leadership of... That goes a very long way into destroying trust with patients. And for doctors, trustability is the first thing one should think of as a requirement for the job. Without trust, you can't expect people to ever confide their medical secrets to you. And you'll never do your job effectively as a result. "Potentially". You wouldn't trust a priest who has sex with a dozen people a week to tell you how philandering is a sin. Neither would you ever trust a doctor who is very loudly against you and your beliefs on social media. Neither would you trust a doctor to tell you to stop smoking, meanwhile having photos and tiktoks online of them smoking cigars. Or wearing bikinis meanwhile telling you to cover up and/or hide in the shade to protect your skin and prevent cancer... "Potentially". Just like how I don't trust any doctor who aligns themselves with the democrats, who are known to be embezzling from Big Tobacco's 1997 Master Settlement Agreement. Billions per year supposed to be spent on anti-smoking campaigns and aids... And yet barely any of that gets used for it's correct purpose. Even worse, worldwide agencies (including the one in the UK who was the first to declare smoking to cause cancer) say vaping is mostly safe (they only say mostly/95% to avoid liability down the line), meanwhile democrats and their doctor allies in the US call this agency out as not being credible, purely to keep people smoking for profit. I don't trust doctors like that. And that's because they make very public statements which are NOT backed up with scientific evidence. Because they make statements which benefit a specific agenda. Because their public statements make their integrity questionable. Another example: The US is the only country saying Hydroxychloroquine doesn't work on Covid19. Every other country has had huge success stories, and have published hundreds of studies saying so. Why then, does the US government and big tech firms continue to propagate potential lies, and shutting down the voices of doctors who speak up against it, calling it "misinformation". Sorry, but Twitter's policy team doesn't have a medical certificate. They shouldn't have the right to declare misinformation when it's an actual doctor saying it's not.
@@grahamb7947 Dude if you're counting making clearly racist remarks about another country on twitter as potentially unprofessional then this went way over your head. Racist remarks on twitter is clearly unprofessional. Racist tweets is not simply putting input or just talking about controversial social topics, that's just plain right attacking another race or religion. Your whole argument is just full of clearly unprofessional examples. Doctors giving false info is clearly unprofessional not potentially.
@@13YoJest13 Guessing you're talking about how he mentioned MS-13 gang members? Or maybe how he told Ilhan Omar to go and fix her own country before lecturing people on ethics... That's not racist. Grab a dictionary. A real one.
My dad is a doctor and one day we were at the beach, he was wearing his bathing suit, drinking beer, enjoying time with his family. When a man was brought to shore as he had been found floating far away, not breathing. My dad immediately stopped everything he was doing and went into doctor mode to help save that man’s life. Unfortunately, it was too late but I saw my dad do everything he could to bring him back. It definitely put a stop to our day as it is a terrible thing to experience but even worse to see the family be distraught over what happened. But even so they thanked my dad and the others who tried to help and he sat there and comforted them. What you wear and what you do in your free time does not take away from your skills and passion for the job and others will see that as well. People are so quick to judge and point fingers, it’s so childish.
Froggy Noddy and how do you know he didn’t? Did he tell you? Do you know him personally? There are definitely pictures of us hanging out and drinking at the beach of that day on Facebook, instagram, you name it. My point still stands and there’s no difference. I don’t know what you’re trying to get at with saying that.
You know, I am always weary of things you see online, but you are truly a great source. You and Katy Morton are really great sources of information that can show the public what good health and mental health is. Thank you.
You are the reason I went back to doctors. I have autism and chronic pain disorders. Due to my expression (wether it be my lack there of, or my "overly exaggerated" expression) I was always shunned and disbelieved and walked on by my doctors. I have truama from when I was 4, that left me with nerve damage, it happened at the hands of a doctor who was too old and stubborn to retire, but had such shakey old man hands that he disabled my ability to feel in a whole part of my body. Doctors have done almost nothing but hurt me. But because of you, your kind, genuine, authentic self being on the internet here, I have appointments scheduled now. Sometimes I cancel last minute because the anxiety is too much, but it still happens. I have new glasses. Thats something. And its entirely due to you, and your "unprofessionalism". Proffesionalism scares me, because the man who hurt me was an icon of what doctors "should be" and if thats what they "should be" than... I'll just rot instead man
Man, some people forget that being a doctor is a job, not someone's whole identity. Doctors still have their own lives, personalities, hobbies, families outside of being a doctor.

I wouldn't trust a doctor in a bikini ... in an EXAM room. But a doctor in a bikini having fun at a beach seems like a doctor modeling healthy activity.
I agree, but I also don't want to see my doctor on certain known websites doing provocative things; It's situational more than anything. As long as they have dignity.
"Ma'am! This woman is bleeding out on the beach, we have to help her immediately!" "Wait, just let me change my clothes first, I don't want to be unprofessional"
I would be glad of having doctors in every place, every venue. I am grateful to know that in industry and in large government facilities that there are specific people trained to handle emergency situations like this. Not quite EMT's, but trained well enough to be able to handle these emergencies with some expertise and even experience.
Dr. Mike wasn't wearing a lab coat/scrubs when he saved someone's life on an airplane so I quite frankly cannot support this unprofessional behavior anymore 😞
Being unprofessional is like: Coming in late to work. Shouting at colleagues and patients. Being indifferent and distracted while a patient is being consulted by you. Disclosing private info Hitting your patients.. Those writers r dumb
@@Sea-zu4bj wow he made one unsuitable example and you're generalising all those valid points that he gave? "What the hell" are you thinking? Mind your words smh
I ABSOLUTELY wouldn’t trust my doctor if he walked in to the operating room wearing boxers or if she walked into the office wearing a bikini - but I don’t care what he or she wears when off duty, because SHE/HE👏 IS 👏 OFF 👏 DUTY
Doctor that delivered my daughter was just getting off work and had just changed into gym clothes when they called him to come to the delivery. My mom said it looked like he wasn't wearing anything under his hospital gown.
A doctor will not Walk into his or her office wearing “boxers” lol if that day ever comes and I’m the patient I’ll get up and offer the doctor a cup of coffee obviously he or she were too tired to realize they didn’t put pants on 🤭🤔
Women’s breasts and bodies are sexualised so much in society to the extent that it is seen as “unprofessional” if they are on show in any way. Which is disgusting and misogynistic.
I dont believe it's misogynistic considering men are sexualised often too. I reckon we need to desexualise the reproductive organs. Big breasts, small Vees, big peens and tight booties are not realistic to everyone.
Yes they are and some of the biggest reasons are that women do it to themselves, especially celebrity women like the Kardashians or Brittany Spears. When the media reports them showing off all the comments say “stunning and brave” or “fire” (the comments come from other women). The feminist don’t say that the behavior is wrong so they are also part of the issue.
The masks dont help you really....first the virus is smaller then the mesh of a SURGICAL mask or N95 or N99 mask. The N99...means its 99% effective. Hydroxychloroquine is not for everyone but is the best tool. It acts like insulin to open the door to cells. But the real killer of virus is zinc...so best they taken together at earlier stages of viral exposure. Countries who were exposed at early stages to this virus used the combo drugs, had less death rates. The data that says HCQ can kill patient is due to studies that have been retracted. It's been known by Dr Fauci since 2005 that HCQ helps against SARS virus. Countless papers from different countries prove its effectiveness.
Oh, boy, l would love to see that - "sorry, l cannot save your life, l'm not dressed doctor appropriate at a moment" moment. 🤦♀️ Sometimes human stupidity make me cringe so much.
Honestly, the way medical residents are usually treated in the US, the expectation is that doctors should work 80+ hours a week and should go off duty if and only if they can't survive otherwise. God forbid if they have time to socialise and relax outside of work. That time is better spent working "saving lives" !!
Preach Dr. Mike. Docs are human. Why should we punish docs for being off duty and having fun. If my life was saved by a doc in a bikini I could care less because they saved my life!
I would honestly PREFER to see the “real” side of my Dr.... it makes it a lot less intimidating going to them when we can truly see that they are human too
I go out shopping with my kids and see my doctor with his family just living his life and it makes me trust him more. Interacting with him in the community as a fellow human instead of doctor/patient builds trust and comfort levels.
xX Egyptian Flower Xx The thing is that, doctors are trained to be so professional with the way they carry themselves at work that it’s easy to forget that just like us they have flaws and emotions. Being able to see them outside the work place just acting like a normal person helps to ground our perceptions of them
Pshhh, clearly doctors aren't supposed to go swimming at all! Don't you know that becoming a doctor means you agree to stop being a normal human?!? You can't do normal human things and possibly be smart enough to be a doctor! Because clearly, normal people can't become capable physicians through hard work. No, you have to be a robot who can just absorb knowledge and become a human encyclopedia. Or at least, that's what the article in question seems to imply 🙄

Imagine dying at the beach, seeing a female doctor in bikini trying to save you and being like : yeah no thank you, you're unprofesionnal lol ridiculous
Completly agree. If someone took a picture wearing a bikini or any sort of a swimwear in a hospital (on duty) That would be unprofessional. But a bikini at the beach or a pool or w/ever they are (off duty). Frankly, who gives a ****. They are human too, who cares what they wear outside work. Also, If I needed help at the beach: I would rather a doctor (man, women, trans, non-binary etc. idc) in a bikini or even a speedo help me, then leave me bleeding out so they can change into something "more professional"
Ugh the double standards. When doctors are at their job, they should be professional. However, when they’re not working they are free to do whatever they want.
It's attitudes like this that lead my friend (who is a doctor) to being afraid to dance or be seen enjoying herself in any way in public, in case someone photographs her and puts it on social media.
@Lilman Yellow It doesn't matter. Photos get shared on social media and eventually someone would see them and recognise her. Once that happens she would be taken to task for acting 'unprofessionally' (like the women in this story). Do you think the women in these stories were 'famous doctors' known by more than the average number of people?
the more I get to know your personality, the more I fall in love with your brain. you have an intelligent way of understanding what is right and what freedom is, you bring us joy and help us with a lot of useful information. can't thank you enough.
My aunt is a hand surgeon engaged to a surgeon and they made dancing tiktoks in quarantine. She also posts bikini photos from holidays. She is living a normal life... What do people expect
Sv Vr fr like if a doctor or surgeon were to wear a swimsuit of any kind at their job than yeah it would be unprofessional. But if they were just wearing it on vacation or home or somewhere that’s not their job than I think it’s fine.
My "dealing doctor" was my neighbour for years, one night we called him at like 1 AM because i was doing my first ever alergic reaction and had painful red plates all over my body. He came up in Pyjama to give me adrenaline and antistaminics. Who cares about dress code when i comes to helping people and/or saving lifes ? If doctors have rights to sleep they have rights to drink and have fun when they're not on duty. This should be common sence.
Imagine while you are having a allergic reaction your doctor had to dress up so he would look like a professional. Ah yes I guess death rate gotta go up.
Your soul and mind are so beautiful, gee. My mom and sis, and bestie would sometimes ask me "why are you even talking to such people, especially online"... And I may not be a doctor, but I was raised in a med family that values both knowledge and care for fellow humans, so I do try to talk some sense into people to the best of my ability... It's hard, but when one taxi driver told me that after our conversation on the way that she thinks she'll get the vaccine, because she understood better what the reaction most people get is and that her not getting the vaccine is actually choosing a higher risk and not "avoiding" risk... So there is hope.
Exactly lmao. That'd be like me rolling up to a hospital in a white lab coat and a stethoscope and automatically gaining a decade of medical experience.
I remember once a patient discovering one of my tattoos. I always did everything I could to cover all of them, but this one time my trousers got wet and people were able to see one of them. She looked at me, at my tattoo and back at me and said with a very pejorative undertone „well, I thought you were professional.“ So I asked her, if I had been less professional in the last few days since she was my patient than someone else. No, I was till that point „the most professional“ was the answer. I asked then if anything had changed just because I have some ink under my scrub, if I really was any less professional now. After thinking a little, she told me, I was right, I wasn‘t any less professional. About an year later she saw me on the streets and even came over to talk to me. I guess, at the end I left a good impression.:)
No, I think teachers get it worse. I remember hearing about that situation when a teacher got fired because of a picture from swiming competition, in a single piece swimsuite.
@@o0Theresa0o I agree with that but teacher is a job where you're surrounded by immature people, teens and kids arent mature and they will bully the teacher for the picture, there's nothing you can do about it
If a male doctor can still be respected for being shirtless at a beach, then even a female doctor should be respected and not be thought of as incompetent for wearing a bikini at the beach.
My frustration is that I know educators who have been fired for being in a swimsuit on the beach. I just think it isn't fair. I don't judge (mostly) my parents on how they parent. Please don't judge me on what I do on my weekends. :)

Sometimes, I wonder why we have this way of seeing and treating people this way, with amateurism (amateur habits⬇️, seen as defficent & unqualified) and professionalism (professional habits⬆️, seen as efficent & qualified). Because we now have professionals in the society who tend to overestimate themsleves⬆️ and amateurs who underestimate themselves⬇️ due to this ideology. Something needs to be addressed🤔.

For the past 4 years I have used a backpack as a purse. It started when I went back to school and brought my school books to work with me so I could study on my break. Then I got cute little fashion backpack because I loved how easy they were. The backpack I got was of The Beast from beauty and the beast. I absolutely loved him. My mom would say that I needed a real purse for going to job interviews. That a backpack was “unprofessional” if my work cares so much about what I choose to carry my wallet in they are not gonna like me as a person. Good news is I got my dream job with my backpack and my slightly childish charm has gotten me pretty far in life.

The way you deliver that doctors are human too by not being too exaggerated and just coming naturally in daily life on your videos. By watching this video, implicitly summarizes why I enjoyed most of your videos, including that the doctor is a profession, and doctors are also human. As well as on another videos, you also shared the social issues, about having fun with family, the idea that we must have been struggling in life to get what we want, and also we can choose what to react whether choosing to be happy or sad. Besides, while watching your videos, I got lots of new information, mostly about health, as well as about life that makes me more aware of myself in a broad way, and could make me strive for more accurate information after watching your youtube videos. Hope to see you before I die. Thank you and God bless you. Keep inspiring, stay safe, and stay healthy 🙏🏾
As someone who's a female starting medical school this coming Monday, I was HORRIFIED to see this study. It also made me nervous as to what I might encounter in the medical field. Tattoos are permanent marks on the skin. For a person to decide to have a tattoo, he/she would have to feel very strongly about the tattoo. I've heard of people who had tattoos to remember loved ones who passed away. I've heard of people waiting for years to see if they still want the same tattoo, having it done only if they still feel the same way. I like those tattoos. But if its an attempt to make themselves feel unique...😬 a person is not unique because of some colors on their skin. A person is unique by their personality and attributes. This is the kind of tattoo that signals a person with impulsive tendencies. This is what employers watch out for.
You are amazing Doc..putting out the right messages into the world of ignorant and herd mentality diseased humans. From one doctor to another..good job sir!
Would I trust a doctor who wears a bikini? Well, that depends. Are they wearing a bikini while treating me in the hospital or clinic? No? Then sure. Because their clothing when outside of a medical setting has zero bearing on their ability to practice medicine. If you have issues with your doctor being a real person, with a real life, who does and experiences real things, then you need to assess your expectations. I would much prefer a doctor who wears a bikini on the beach or at the pool and takes photos with friends and family, than a doctor so worried about how people perceive them that they cannot enjoy life.
I was looking for this comment I knew someone was gonna say it. Doctors are not your personal tools they are people. Healthcare workers give enough putting our lives at risk of infectious disease, and getting physically assaulted with no legal recourse. Let me get a frickin tan on an off day.
In one hospital in Russia there was actually a case where nurses were wearing bikinis under their protection suits because it was the only thing that helped them in the extreme heat. Vivid sucks. And I would actually still trust a doctor if they did that in such a situation.
also, if they happen to be wearing a bikini while they're running to help me or a loved one in urgent medical need at the beach, I also won't mind if they are wearing a bikini. like, at all.
Why stalk women just to shame them for wearing bikinis? Then they say don't trust them bcuz it's unprofessional, when they're literally not on the job?
I'd love to know my health care professionals were blowing off steam before taking my life into their hands! Would hate for them to be at anything but there best!
Literally! I took a class on bioethics and this violates sooooo many study precautions! Everyone on the board who “reviewed” this study before it was publish and participated in conducting it should be removed from their fields.
Scientific studies have been going down the drain lately. Politics of all spectrums have infected science in all fields, but most notably the social sciences. It needs to stop.
Well, to be honest, the journal has a pretty low impact factor (IF) of 1.827. Usually, journals with a low IF accept almost everything they get since most people aim to publish in journals with a high impact factor. Something to take into account is that some journals may publish controversial topics to spark a discussion regarding the subject in matter. This journal succeded in doing so, but it backfired SO hard that it may cost the job of some of the editors
Sylvester_Kat considering that it could also include any doctor that isn’t dressed “professionally” it doesn’t have to misogynistic. but it still stand my ground.
Imagine being that low to shame someone who is a doctor just because they have social media and post casual photos of themselves... I'd trust a doctor in a bikini, who cares, it's important that they are good people and do their job 😊
this probably the first time I came across this idea of not trusting them for wearing casual dresses!.. I mean I generally look at there photos and say,“ yea, She looks good!!” and that's all .. why human wearing casual clothes is something incredible!?
"Doctors are humans too." I totally agree, Dr. Mike. Others also judge us teachers from wearing whatever we want outside the school. Teachers are humans too.
Some teachers even get fired for being at a bar with their friends and putting it on social media, or going to parties and wearing party clothes that may show a little. Like, wtf? At this point sue the school, that has to not be allowed.
@@anastasiao4036 well...since most kids are on social media and their teachers are not hard to find, it can go to a kind of "losing your authority" in your class. I am not saying, that you shouldn't be allowed to do it. Just pointing out something that might happen, even more likely with older students. I wouldn't wonder if some students even make sexist comments or even sexual assaults. I can see that happening. And I also can see it happening that the school will then say "its your own fault for posting such pictures of yourself. Its your own fault for presenting yourself like that to your students. Etc. Etc. Etc." I hope its not like that, but with what I have seen, what teachers have to endure, its highly possible.
But when you are going to school to be a teacher it is made clear that you are to be a role model at all times. If you don't agree with it, change professions. You are molding the minds of children. That doesn't stop when you are off the clock. You are well aware of the risk to your license if you are caught doing anything that could leave a negative influence on the children. That and the pay are the biggest turn-offs 4 people thinking about becoming teachers. You don't get in trouble for going out and having a drink. But if a picture of you is on the internet with a drink in your hand, then that is the role model your children see. It's not the same for doctors. They are treating the body, not molding the mind.
@@reneeg9406 I understand the whole being a role model, but being fired and losing the ability to teach from being out to a party and having a picture out there if it is ridiculous. The only children that should have the ability to go on the internet and see a teacher drinking would he teenagers, and they've already been exposed to that stuff in the first place, from both online influences and parents most likely. Most teenagers don't listen to or think of their teachers as role models, only people who teach them the lessons they don't care about in the first place and that's all. A teacher should be about to do what they want with their life and their social media. It isn't something illegal, they are of age to drink. And maot kids who have the internet are old enough to know the age limits for drinking, since most are, as said, teenagers. They aren't dumb. They don't need their teachers holding their hands at that age. If a student drinks, it isn't because a teacher happened to drink and has a picture up on their social media, it is because they ignored the rules they already know and decided to, and their parents may be at fault too. The teachers aren't the role models, the parents are. A picture of going to a party with alcohol shouldn't determine whether a teacher is fired from their jobs.
Imagine shaming a doctor, that is not even in the medical setting, that they’re clothes are “unprofessional.” Oh! Sorry love, didn’t realize that I needed to wear my raincoat whilst bodyboarding😒
They didn't have much trouble making women nurses wear dresses and uncomfortable shoes back in the day lol I guess it's only ok when they're in control.
Hello Doctor Mike. I just want to say, you did the right thing by continuing your TH-cam Channel despite other people persuading you not to. Because I learned a lot in your Channel. I'm not subscribed, lol. But have been watching your videos for more than a year now. Browsing them. Even until now. :)
So they’re basically saying: If you wanna be a doctor, don’t have a life. Thanks. Like... it’s 2020 people. C’mon we have enough problems this year, do you really have to judge people for what they wear.
They spent most of their undergrad/med school not having a life... Hey doc, thanks for saving my life, sorry you're not allowed to have one ever (Also, could you imagine how terrible bedside manners would be if they weren't "allowed" to have a life outside of work)
You guys heard about the teacher that got fired bc on of her student's mom saw on the teacher's Facebook a pic of her drinking alchohol on her vacation...
People outside: "Do we have any doctor here? please help!" Doctor in unprofessional attire: "oh no, i'm not wearing appropriate attire to save this person life."
I couldn’t agree more!! As a professional nurse, I try to motivate others by sharing my journey (fitness), sometimes I wear a sports bra and shorts - get over it! We all have bodies!
The doctor who delivered me almost 29 years ago and took care of my son when he was born... I always saw him one way. Later on we gained a great friendship through our family. I saw him as a normal “person” and have so much more respect for him. His wife threw my baby shower and he was the only Male there. 😂 he is an amazing doctor by being able to show that he is professional, yet just like me and feels the same emotions as I do.
Wh-what that? My-my-my doctor HAS A LIFE?! OUTSIDE OF WORK?! unacceptable! I expect my doctors to sleep, eat, bathe, and live inside the hospital

Spying on other doctors'/surgeons' social media
This definitely deserves more thumbs up!

@HemolM lmao where does this fit in? 😂😂
This isn't just exclusive to the medical field. Recruiters and HR does spy on applicants on their social media. Which sicks.
“Unprofessional behaviour.” Huh... it’s almost as if... they’re not at work...🤔🤔
Oh no what ever do you mean "not at work " they are supposed to live in the hospital and not have any form of a life

This is so ridiculous. So now doctors aren’t even allowed to have a life outside of their jobs?
Great question
Well apparently they have to do it in secret, god forbid your social media makes anyone think you have an interesting life.
Yep it's like people can't become a doctor or a surgeon but accuses them for the dress and lifestyle they use instead of thanking them for saving people s life .They too have to go out and drink just the people, they are people too.I want to see the authors of the article in spacesuits and snow jackets on a sunny beach.
so doctors don’t work and sleep in hospitals 24/7? weird
Not if they are women.
They need their healing bullets
Yeah, it's almost as if they don't encounter the firsthand victims of gun violence, right?
Hope you’re all alright.
much like doctors are not qualified to lecture on the civil engineering solutions to traffic because they death with crash victims, they are not experts at firearm legislation because they can treat bullet wounds.
In fact, I'd be less likely to trust a doctor who doesn't live a normal life.

Doctors are people too. They don't just live at the hospital waiting for you to show up 😒.
No that's teacher's and schools 😂
... don't just live at the hospital waiting for you to throw up, lol
Ngl, in primary school I thought that teachers were locked in the teacher's lounge after school and lived solely off of coffee and hot chocolate.
I mean some so. Especially during covid and 16 hour shifts.
Unless they are Residents...
It's almost as if doctors have a life outside of being a doctor.
Hmmmmmmm XD
Lol that would be weird
Stop lying
I really dont think they do😊
Wow and here I thought doctors were like teachers, they live where I see them.
I feel like knowing your doctor has an outside life makes me feel more comfortable with them. When I’m getting tests run we like to talk about family and things like that, it makes them seem more genuine
:) true
:)
It doesn't matter how you look, what matters is how you do your job.
@Deborah Shaw lol
in medicine it does tho. of course it depends on the culture, but a good rapport from the first meeting with a physician is important in building trust and later on compliance to treatment procedures. eg, if a physician dye his/her hair in color in my country, the elderly patient won't take him seriously.
Lol for sure, but there is definitely a instant subconscious bias based on someone's clothing
It’s worth noting that the study did not mention men in swimwear as unprofessional, only women in bikinis. Certainly sexist.
Froggy Noddy why does it matter if someone does. Does it affect his or her ability to practice medicine?
Froggy Noddy who says?
I’d be much more concerned if my doctor DIDNT wear a swim suit while swiming
😂😂 you see someone at the beach with a long white coat "yep, that's a new resident"

Your doctor reminds me of my doctor. He wears brown mid length cargo pants 😂👍🏻
My doc wears similar stuff but ontop is always their white coat
Bit wired for them to not suddenly wear it, but understandable for any reason
Why would you freak out about a single deer tick bite? Unless it was showing symptoms of an infection you shouldn’t be worried about visiting a doctor every time. I get bitten by ticks often unfortunately and I thoroughly look for them. If I ever had any symptom of an infection I will visit a doctor.
The potentially unprofessional list really is vague as hell.
That’s the point. These people like to be vague so that if they’re called out on their bs, they’ll probably go waaaay out there and describe their reasoning as sound, even if it’s really pushing the description.
Doctor: **is a human**
Everyone: "That's unprofessional!"
That's basically what that article boils down to, and it's ludicrous.

Omg I hope you are ok now🙏🏼 Thank god for the doctor that was there.

As a teacher, I totally agree with ALL of this. Teachers are held to crazy high standards with their public image.
My mom told me she was called to the principal's office this one time because a parent reported that she was at a concert in a bar with friends late at night on a weekend while wearing casual clothing...
Edit: He apologized, but it was still a ridiculous anecdote.

They really are. Teachers are heroes that our society takes for granted. Plus they definitely are underpaid for everything.
I remember seeing my middle school art teacher while working, at like 16 yearsold, He was smoking. I was so shocked I didnt even say hi to him 🤣 he was my favorite teacher too. I understood later, but it is shocking to see a teacher outside school doing something you never imagined them doing.
These guys are acting like doctors are supposed to wear their white coats when swimming
I do not know but i have a feeling that the authers of this study are haters to doctors.
With the stethoscope
LOL
Only for the first 3 weeks
Actually, the only times a doctor is allowed to get into water is to clean themselves so they can treat patients more safely and hygienically. Why should a doctor even swim in the first place? They shouldn't even leave their office. Do they not understand that they're doctors? And they're not allowed to take breaks?
Speaking of doctors seeming mega professional and that being bad, that’s actually why I like this channel, because it shows a fun, more silly and personal side of a doctor. We can also see this by the fact of how many people question whether or not Mike is a real doctor.
So let me get this straight: they got three dudes stalking young females' social media and called that a "study"?

They are basically saying that doctors can’t have fun and live their lives. Ridiculous
The thing that got me was the the “potentially unprofessional” stuff had nothing to do with or would ever lead to being clearly unprofessional.
...and who gets to decide...if anyone, should be a consensus among the doctor community and no one else...these are doctors, the brightest among the public...somehow I think the majority of them know the difference between professional and unprofessional

Honestly, the way medical residents are usually treated in the US, the expectation is that doctors should work 80+ hours a week and should go off duty if and only if they can't survive otherwise. God forbid if they have time to socialise and relax outside of work. That time is better spent working "saving lives" !!
It's like kids when they see their teachers outside of school
ikr they are meant to slave their lives away in that hospital
Preach Dr. Mike. Docs are human. Why should we punish docs for being off duty and having fun. If my life was saved by a doc in a bikini I could care less because they saved my life!
I would honestly PREFER to see the “real” side of my Dr.... it makes it a lot less intimidating going to them when we can truly see that they are human too
!!!
Well, I wouldn't prefer to see my doctor in a bikini or Speedo, but if he's the doctor there to save me and he's wearing a Speedo, then I don't care.
I go out shopping with my kids and see my doctor with his family just living his life and it makes me trust him more. Interacting with him in the community as a fellow human instead of doctor/patient builds trust and comfort levels.

The thing is that, doctors are trained to be so professional with the way they carry themselves at work that it’s easy to forget that just like us they have flaws and emotions. Being able to see them outside the work place just acting like a normal person helps to ground our perceptions of them

Would I trust a doctor who wears a bikini? Well, that depends. Are they wearing a bikini while treating me in the hospital or clinic? No? Then sure. Because their clothing when outside of a medical setting has zero bearing on their ability to practice medicine.

this probably the first time I came across this idea of not trusting them for wearing casual dresses!.. I mean I generally look at there photos and say,“ yea, She looks good!!” and that's all .. why human wearing casual clothes is something incredible!?
@@sparklysprinkles5973 more medical licenses, looks hot, takes care of their body... 10/10 doctor 🤝🤝
Drunk at school and get fired might be reasonable. BUT *living a life outside of your job* and get fired for it... I'm pretty sure karens has strike.
Etc. Etc. Etc."
I hope its not like that, but with what I have seen, what teachers have to endure, its highly possible.
C L don't forget the silly hats

Hello Doctor Mike. I just want to say, you did the right thing by continuing your TH-cam Channel despite other people persuading you not to.
Because I learned a lot in your Channel. I'm not subscribed, lol. But have been watching your videos for more than a year now. Browsing them. Even until now. :)
So they’re basically saying:
If you wanna be a doctor, don’t have a life. Thanks.
Like... it’s 2020 people. C’mon we have enough problems this year, do you really have to judge people for what they wear.
They spent most of their undergrad/med school not having a life... Hey doc, thanks for saving my life, sorry you're not allowed to have one ever
(Also, could you imagine how terrible bedside manners would be if they weren't "allowed" to have a life outside of work)
I would give you a like but you have 69 so...
@@padmajagannathan1148 sike. Destroyed it. 😂
You guys heard about the teacher that got fired bc on of her student's mom saw on the teacher's Facebook a pic of her drinking alchohol on her vacation...
People outside: "Do we have any doctor here? please help!"
Doctor in unprofessional attire: "oh no, i'm not wearing appropriate attire to save this person life."
"oh no let me go change to my professional attire first"
someone: *is ded*
I couldn’t agree more!! As a professional nurse, I try to motivate others by sharing my journey (fitness), sometimes I wear a sports bra and shorts - get over it! We all have bodies!
The doctor who delivered me almost 29 years ago and took care of my son when he was born... I always saw him one way. Later on we gained a great friendship through our family. I saw him as a normal “person” and have so much more respect for him. His wife threw my baby shower and he was the only Male there. 😂 he is an amazing doctor by being able to show that he is professional, yet just like me and feels the same emotions as I do.
