      I have been watching
The Asian Champions League this week & doing a bit of research aswell at the same time.
      And
      Looking in to football
      In Vietnam as even in
Asian football teams it's a bit off the beaten track
      & came across could
      Ho Chi Minh City
      there nickname
is The Red Battleship with a nickname like that there has to be a very good story there
so myb some day you can do another trip to Asia & take a look at football in
      Vietnam how many
      You Tubers are doing that.
      Keep Safe Sam

Took in a game down there at the start of the season. Cracking wee set up they have, really nice people involved and got a pre-match pie and beans with tatties in the club house.
They lost 7-0 that day, but have been getting more competitive since. It's a learning curve... next season I'm sure they'll do much better!

    • @alanfox691
      @alanfox691 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not say in
Scotland we really have such a thing as community spirit you would be very hard pushed to find community spirit in Scotland at all especially in this day in age.
I come from the village of
      Elderslie originally but live
      in Hamilton now.
I believe there was community spirit in Scotland if you go back to the mind 70's from what my Mum & Dad tell me
I am 42 but I would not say it has existed in Scotland since I was born in 1981.
In terms of football community spirit I think you vastly underestimate the hold
The Old Firm have over the vast majority of football fans in Scotland.
Myb if a club like say
      Johnstone Burgh get to
The Junior Cup final you see it for myb 2 weeks max then it disappears quickly after that
but something like that is as close as we get to community spirit.
I think one of the biggest issues in Scotland in terms of having very little if any community spirit is size of population plus people move town & Villages much more now a day's.
Unfortunately religion is the ruling factor in much of Scotland much more than community spirit ever has been & that is a sad fact of life in most of Scotland.
I went up to Forres just before the Pandemic to watch
      Forres Thistle play
      Pollok in
      The Scottish Junior Cup
      The Pub we went to
      Pree game must of had
a but 40 Celtic fans watching there game on T.V 40 miles
North of Glasgow to me that says everything about
Football in Scotland you need to ask why are they
      fans not following
      Forres Mechanics of
      The Highland League or
Forres Thistle a Juniors club in
The North region answer religion it's just the way it is in Scotland.

As part-time ground-hoppers we had this one on our list for this season. Managed to get down there for a game about a month ago. As you said, new clubs are often just in a 4G cage and so the visit becomes little more than a tick, so I don't mind admitting, we fell in love with this place a wee bit. Especially how they've done it through sheer hard work and perseverance. Hope they eventually put a back wall on The Coup though - it doesn't provide much shelter at the moment! BTW Did you notice that the floodlights are sitting in the cark park outside, waiting to be installed!

Unfortunately your lack of background research has let you down again. Last time it was by repeatedly claiming that Creetown is in Borders region when it's in Dumfries and Galloway. This time its by saying that Lintom Hotspur are uniquely the newest club in the Scottish pyramid. They're not. They're JOINTLY newest with Knightswood FC who were voted in as new members of the West of Scotland League for this season 2023-4.

When I was a kid I longed for teams in the UK to field teams of superstars, the best possible team v the best possible team. How brilliant would it be to watch the greats every week. Now we have that I find I’m not interested, there’s no connection. The huge clubs get bigger and richer, the small clubs struggle to keep pace. The top leagues are less competitive hence less compelling. I can’t remember the last time I watched a Champions league match.
Non league football fascinates me. Small town clubs that only exist as a direct result of local support, which often means people committing time and effort. They do what they can, don’t expect much and tolerate bad results. There’s more emotional involvement than you would believe possible.
Go and find a wee team to support and stand in the wind and rain watching games that are often a bit iffy. You’ll be smitten I guarantee it, it’s football the way it once was and it’s marvellous. Every now and again you will see a great game or will shock a bigger club, it’ll be beers all round at the local and sore head the next day. You’ll go on about it at work and people will think you’ve lost your mind. It’s perfect!
