To answer that question might take me a minute so bear with me. Years ago some good friends of ours had a 20 foot wooden sailboat with no electronics. and they decided to sail from where we were living on our boat in Saint Augustine Florida across the Atlantic to Africa. They lived in Africa for quite a few years. While they were there they became good friends with all of the locals. But also while they were there they’re already extremely old wooden boat became much older and more unsafe and locals became worried for them when they heard that our friends decided to sail back across the Atlantic back to the East Coast of Florida. A lot of the Africans wear bands like these on their waist or wrist etc. for different reasons. Some wear them to be lucky at gambling some wear them to prevent themselves from getting pregnant some wear them to get pregnant others wear them to keep people from breaking into their homes while they are away. So the local Africans decided that the most useful thing that our friends could use to help them safely across the ocean was Magic. So they had these bands made for them. and these bands were supposed to give them luck and also keep them from sinking because the locals thought that would be the most valuable thing’s for our friends. So our friends wore the bands and set out to cross the Atlantic Ocean in their old rotten wooden boat. Over 5000 miles and 51 days at sea later they safely made it to the East Coast of Florida where we were living on our boat. At this point we were getting ready to go to sea on our boat and they were getting ready to move off of theirs. So they gave us their magic bands. Since then we had sailed countless miles and have had more adventurous than we can remember. Anyways I am not saying that the bands are actually magic but if you Had of seen our friends old rotten wooden boat it definitely would cause you to entertain the concept that they just might be. Anyways sorry for the long winded answer but that is the only way I can answer that question. Thanks for the positive feedback
It is really hard to choose between the two of them. That is why we try to do both. There is a lot of similarities between homesteading and sailing. When you are sailing every decision you make Hass to be incredibly efficient and accurate because your life depends on it. And the same thing with homesteading. In both situations you are always plotting a course and having to maneuver through difficult situations. Either way very stimulating and very fulfilling. So I guess to answer your question we like a little bit of everything. if you have any other questions let us know. Thanks for your comment and your interaction
Our little stove is awesome it works great. I made that stove from some scrap stainless steel that I had it was fairly inexpensive to make. Here is a link to a video where we do a walk-through of our boat and show the stove in more detail th-cam.com/video/h2BVwn1kNAA/w-d-xo.html

Greetings from Newport News Va
You can take the sailor out of the sea but you can't take the sea out of the sailor ♥
New England sailers to Arkansas homesteaders, What an interesting couple.
They’re in Maryland, not New England.
Beautiful
Thanks for sharing this, I sail the Great Lakes and plan to move for the winter to the Chesapeake, any good advice?
Thanks for the great videos!!
Time Sadly the borrowed Today is nearly tomorrows yesterday. Time goes on with or without us... Hard to hold onto something we cannot touch or see.
Great video! I noticed both of you have a strap around your calf. Is it just jewelry, or have a function?

@@CarvingAPath That is an amazing story. You could make that into a short video in itself!
Thanks for the question and answer as I was wondering myself. I really did like the video. Looks like 18 foot of relaxing fun.
Love the adventure..do you miss sea life or do you like cabin life better?
