Hey Ed. Have you seen this announcement.
Satara Rest Camp To Close Its Doors in November
SANParks has announced that one of its flagship restcamps, Satara in the Kruger National Park, will cease most tourism operations at the end of November 2022.
"It is most regrettable but in the light of the current current economic challenges facing our organisation, a period of restructuring has become unavoidable", said Samson Nkosi, spokesperson for Kruger National Park Tourism Services.
"Satara is our second-largest rest camp, with the largest operating budget outside of Skukuza. However it is far more remote than the Southern Camps, making access, maintenance and resupply more expensive especially with the sharp rise in fuel and electricity prices expected in the short- to medium term," said Nkosi.
"Maintenance has indeed proven to be a huge problem in this camp, with challenges regarding both accommodation infrastructure and garden services, which have to come in from Hoedspruit every day. It is no longer profitable to pay for staff and upkeep on such a scale, given the slow recovery of bookings after the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020.
Staff will be redeployed to fill vacancies at other camps, thereby improving service delivery throughout the Park. Existing infrastructure such as airconditioning units, interior fittings and geysers in accommodation units will also be used to replace missing or defective items at other camps. The restaurant, filling station and shop will remain open until the Public Private Partnership (PPP) contracts expire in a few years, whereafter the day visitors' site will be reopened and the area be renamed Satara Picnic Spot.
Existing bookings for the period of December 2022 to May 2023 will be reallocated to other camps, and visitors will be informed in this regard as the opportunity arises.
We wish to aplologise for any inconvenience caused, but believe this step will lead to a better Park experience in future", said Nkosi.
He remained mum on whether other camps may be closed in the future, saying that the situation remains "fluid".
    This is a developing story.

Another amazing video Edward. I've been watching your vlogs in India before coming to South Africa, & now since I am here visiting these places it feels good that I have seen them in your videos already or even after visiting. So I went to Kruger last (long) weekend. Stayed in Skukuza & Satara, saw big 4 (- Rhino), Cheetah, Wild Dogs, Secretary, Bustard, almost everything. Loved the experience.
I would suggest you plan for India sometime. Although you won't be able to drive & camp around in jungles, but I bet the experience will be unmatched. If you need any help/information, you can drop me a message, anyway I am still in Pretoria.
Cheers man, keep up the good work !

Edward ek geniet al jou videos. Kamerawerk en aandag aan die fynste besonderhede is uitsonderlik!!! Geniet veral die bosgeluide wat jy vrylik wys. Hou so voort, ons toer saam met jou en geniet elke oomblik.

Hey, @Edward Bath, isn't this meant to be episode 2? Wasn't episode 1 the Tzendze and Shimuwini bush camp episode? 🙃
That said, man I really enjoy the quality of the audio and video in your series. Really makes me want to take my Everest and just get out there! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • @EdwardBath

Then don’t watch. It’s not rocket science! All the music is equalised anyway so it must be whatever you are watching it on or the fact you have the volume too loud

Got a question for you Sir, if a Poacher is 'SCUM' as/like you've said, what is your opinion on a Lodge Owner, who's business is accepting £$,Rand etc. for guests to Shoot and Kill Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Leopards, Zebras, Crocodiles, Hippos, Cheetahs, Buffalo etc.??????. I'll see if I get a response.........

I'm planning on heading to Namibia next month for a virgin Overland experience, if it all goes well, thanks to you I'm gonna attempt a Botswana, Zimbabwe & SA version once i get the chance. Keep up the GOOD work 👍

Loud music on video very intrusive on lovely footage. Why cannot we have just the sounds of the Bush. At least reduce the music by 50%, please

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  ปีที่แล้ว

All music is equalised. Depends what you are watching it on. Not my problem. If you don’t like it don’t watch it. You think it’s as simple as just having bush sounds? If that was the case most of the video would be howling wind and people not switching their cars off at sightings. Get some perspective please!

Why the music?? Delete the music and you’ll have a cracker of a video.
