We were also in Kruger in January and February 2023, and we remember seeing you at one of the rest camps. Your videos are really amazing, and you've done a great job documenting your series. We love to watch your videos!!!😊😊
My wife and I love the always-relaxing style of music and your way, which comes with age, as you take us on your unpretentiously prepared adventures. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks, your words are much appreciated. When I started doing these videos I didn't think they would be at all successful as nearly all travel type videos on You Tube are by young people saying 'Look at me' and that's not my style. They seem to have found an audience though and I've been astonished at how many views I've had and the number of subscribers. Quite unexpected! There will be more Kruger adventures in the latter part of next year but in the meantime I've got a few Lake District walking videos coming and maybe a bit more cruising. Hang on till next year if that's not your thing!
Only the ones in the bottle from the shop! Wasn't sure if they are edible straight from the tree. Three more to go in this series then a longish wait I'm afraid. Looks like we might go again in August next year.
We really look forward to your videos and really enjoy them. We spent 3 weeks in KNP in April/May this year and some of those roads were still closed, we could see how much damage there had been in places.....hectic. We try and avoid the tar roads as much as possible, somehow seeing nothing on a gravel road never seems as bad as seeing nothing on a tar road lol. Have you ever stayed in any of the Bushveld Camps, we prefer them as they are quiet and peaceful. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into producing your videos, it's much appreciated by two more old codgers. Safe and happy travels.
Absolutely agree with you on gravel vs tar. We've stayed at Shimuweni, Sirheni and Talamati all of which have much better accomodation and are lovely, quiet and peaceful. Each time we try to do something different and this visit was a deliberate choice to stay for longer than usual at just the main camps. Hopefully we will be trying Byamati next time if we can get a booking. Thanks for your appreciation.
We have stayed at Biyamiti several times, great camp and we've had some special sightings along the road to the camp. We stayed at Bateleur camp for the first time this year and we were bowled over. It will be at the top of our list when we go back. So quiet and peaceful and access to the Rooibosrand Dam, a great place to just sit with a coffee and rusk and to wait and see what comes along. We are off to the Kgalagadi next year and as this will be our first visit there we have been watching your videos to get useful info. Thanks once again, keep those videos coming....@@oldcodgerwithacamera
Many thanks. I have a video called Filming the Kruger & Kgalagadi which explains everything, check it out. You should find it by clicking on videos on the channel or at th-cam.com/video/S5rRS-pt4Bw/w-d-xo.html (if that link works).
Loved that shot taken from the bridge , probably looking down at a large sandbank dotted with resting buck and a winding river . It had a hushed expectation quality like a start of a ballet 🫶
We passed that spot a number of times when it was just 'another empty river' but on this occasion we were struck with the thought 'This is Africa!'. It had a real magical quality. The animals were still there the following day but then they were gone and it became just another empty river again. It was a magical moment and I'm glad you appreciated it aslo.
Glad you appreciated it despite the music! It would be lovely to have natural sounds throughout the videos but it just isn’t possible and it needs the music to hold it all together. Where there are natural sounds I drop the music level so they can be heard but most of the clips are wind noise on the mic, total silence or, worst of all, the sound of other people’s car engines at sightings.
i am from Spain and went to Kruger around 8 years ago and i loved it!. These videos are fantastic, congratulations!
Many thanks! Hope you have plans to go back someday.

Did you say hello? Several people did which quite surprised me! Many thanks for your apprecaition.
Love to see the brotherhood of these lions.
Yes, it's amazing how they interact with each other.
Can’t wait till I live a good life, retire early and go to Kruger every year!
Pay off the mortgage, pay off the bills and go for it. That's what we did but it took a long time!

Did you taste the marulas? All those male lions were impressive. Thank you again! (I fear withdrawal after this series ends)

Glad you got your leopard! A shame when the gravel roads are closed but you ended on a good note with the big 5. Thanks for sharing with us.
We knew we'd find one (well. hoped anyway)

Useful to know, thanks. We'll definitely try to get Byamati and Bateleur in before the doctors sayt we're no longer fit to travel!
Excellent. I love your videos. Perhaps you have covered this earlier - could you write a little bit on your camera gear or perhaps a short video?

Thank you for sharing the Bird life and not just the big 5.
My pleasure. There are more birds than animals and they are just as interesting and certainly more colourful!
That's where we plan to start our 11 day tour of the south. We were there years in 2017, seems to have grown
It's a good base with the opportunity to go north as well as south. You'll enjoy it.

I loved your video!!! ❤️
Thank you!!
Fascinating
Thanks for watching.
It is great that a white bloke goes to South Africa to shoot with a camera and not a rifle.
I'd happily take a rifle to South Africa if it were legal to shoot poachers!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I'm pleased you enjoyed the video.
Did Caspar have a limp?
Yes but from other sightings I understand that he's been limping now for well over a year.
Nice
Just wish music wasn’t as dominant- takes away from African ambiance… great lion footage 🦁

We definitely had a dazzle of bums today
Get the bums first as the banker shots! Often you drive by and look in the mirror and they've gone!
where did you get the map from?
It's the Kruger Map & Guide that you can buy in any of the park shops. I don't think it's easily available outside the park.
Marula fruit
Thanks .. we did figure it out!
I hate artificial music with nature with a passion
Would you prefer I left on the original sound so you could hear all of the car engines at the sightings?
