@@unowhotravelchannel working sucks! same for me and wife. wish we could just travel instead but i guess thats all our dreams lol. Will be super tough to fit it in around work but im sure you will do it!
Wow guys you have set yourself quite a challenge here, it will be great to watch 😃Today's 11 miles was stunning and I loved your walk around the beautiful village after you checked into the pub. Nice window 😃👍~ Anna
What an inspiration! Thanks so much for taking us with you on such a beautiful series of walks. We will be over that way in August from Australia and your episodes will challenge our capacity to choose at least one. 😅
I should have watched this first, now the bus ride to Minehead makes sense :-) Stunning scenery; loved those mileage signs haha. I'd have lost all hope of arriving. Thank goodness for GPS! So it's not Jun, I guess you've finished the 1014 km walk :-) Thanks for sharing..
Ha ha, not quite, we have day jobs and other things that get in the way! We’re making good progress though…new vlog next week starting a different stretch of coastline 👍
Good to watch as I am planning on doing this when I retire in a few years - but starting from Bournemouth and going the other way around. Have been looking at maps and books and trying to work out what each section is like so this will give me a guide as to how far to walk each day. I had estimated 60 days, so will probably replicate your stops but backwards.
Many years ago we used to take the kids to Butlins for short breaks. I would always be afforded some time to get a walk in as the kids would be playing & the wife supervusing/reading her books. I did the walk to Porlock from the monument but my memory was that you started going up through the trees a lot sooner - maybe I missed the real path back then unless its changed. Anyway, great to see you taking on the whole walk - what an achievment this is gonna be - well done and good luck both. Seeing parts of the walk brought back good memories for me, thanks. Oh ye, getting back on a linear - I did it on a Sunday and the buses were not running...I passed someone's house after getting off Hurlestone Point and asked them about the bus - they told me it was not running and then offered to give me a lift back to Minehead - how great was that! regards Al
Ah that bought back fond memories. Such an exciting feeling when you start the trail. The trees just short of Porlock Weir died when the pebble bank was breached by the sea. Previously that area was farmed but when the sea breach the bank it created the tidal wetland that you see now. The salt water obviously killed off the trees that once grew there.
So you did a nice circular by the sounds of things...if that had been a couple of months ago, that would have been so funny (and nice) bumping into you both!
Great video with beautiful footage and edit. I am walking the SWCP myself with a friend, in stages, summer holidays travelling from Norway. So far walked from Westward Ho! to Charlestown. Looking forward to following your adventure 😊 Thank you for sharing 😊
Hi, I've just taken a look at some of your SWCP videos, super stuff! Glad you've enjoyed our efforts so far, we have three more SWCP vlogs to share and then that's 171 miles completed, a fair few left to go! Thanks for watching and commenting, regards, Simon and Elaine
@@unowhotravelchannelhow lovely that you enjoyed my videos. I have a lot to learn about filming and editing but I do it mostly for keeping the memories 😊 I Didn't have a video camera the first year, and only a cheap action camera from Padstow to St. Ives but bought a GoPro in 2019. I have watched more of your videos from SWCP now and they are geeat. I will definitely watch more of them 😊
This is sooo cool! We walked the SW coast paths on the Dorset coast already twice and get strange ideas of walking further, now that we've seen this video and the next one. 😏😍😍 Fantastic!
You just cannot believe that those high quality, hardwood, crafted signposts, no doubt produced at huge cost to who ever ( taxpayer ?) have such a load of mismatched mileage indications. Yes, quite amusing at best on a sunny dry day when you are in no hurry. But very annoying when you are cold and wet as we were when undertaking this route earlier this autumn… Great walk though !
Having walked the Inca trail and the SWCP I don't think the inca trail is massively better. Obviously an incredible end but the SWCP is just relentless incredible vistas.
That was Elaine's Rab coat that rolls up in a bag, she actually wore the coat for about 5 minutes into the walk before getting too hot! Thanks for the nice comment, cheers, Simon
Really looking forward to following your journey along the SWCP. My wife and I have done about 250 miles of it so far and there are some truly incredible views along the way. I usually watch your vids, especially the LD ones, but don’t think I have comments before. Thanks for sharing and good luck . Can’t wait for the next walk.
Would those people in front have a TH-cam channel? Would my Bus pass be accepted? LOL one of the places we walk has signs like that. We think it is 1 mile there and 2.5 back. Will we see developing theme of sleeping in pubs? Is this not so much a walk or a pub crawl? LOL
Hi Helen, many thanks for your kind comments. We use the Garmin Oregon 400 and 550, but Garmin don't do them anymore. However, you can get a second hand one off Ebay. Ours are falling apart but overall they do a great job! Good luck in September, its an amazing route, we're slowly getting there, almost half way...life and work gets in the way though! Kind regards, Simon and Elaine
Spent a lot of time in Lynton and Lynmouth, when I was married, used to stay In Ingleside in Lynton, can’t recommend it highly enough, great hosts Diana & Keith, cracking breakfast and evening meals, don’t half miss the area, don’t miss the now ex wife though
Thanks for the wave across the estuary.
Well done both, nice to see that part of the country 👍Graeme
No way!!! We did this walk 2 days ago! 😆 I’ll come back and watch in a bit.
Hi Simon great video ive not been that way for a long time 👌👌👌
I would say that really is a challenge but after seeing some of your other hikes I can see you will smash it!
Ah thank you, our only constraints will be our day jobs, plus the state of our feet after hiking for such a long time.

We went at no rush pace, too. Also - I had breakfast in Porlock Weir cafe yesterday moring, and the the night before was in that pub - the Ship!!
Noooo? How uncanny is that? Were you there playing with your band or was it a holiday?
@@unowhotravelchannel It was a vlogging trip - we were accomodated in exchange for some things to do in the area vlogs.
this is going to be a good series of hikes, over 630 miles that's a lot of walking, loved the tour of Porlock and what a cute room to stay in
This is simply breathtaking my friend, shots are just spectacular and fantastically composed!
Absolutely breathtaking hiking path for you both. Really enjoyed following your journey. Please sty well and sty healthy always Simon 💖

That's quite an impressive challenge, but I know you two are up to it. Looking forward to many, many more stunning views!👍
Thank you, we’re currently enjoying views in Iceland👍
Thanks for the Blenheim Road parking spot. We parked there for 3 days while we walked to Combe Martin.

Thanks Paul, we did wonder about those trees…we really enjoyed this first walk, much excitement and energy levels were high! Cheers, Elaine and Simon
Oh actually we didn’t. But ours started and ended in Porlock Weir. It was 5.7 mi. IB wants to do the coastal walks.

If my wife suggested walking the South West Coast Path National Trail, because it's only 630 miles, I would have her committed😂
Hello Simon. Lovely walk. Question, what is the blue thing hanging off the righthand side of Elaine's pack?
