When I first saw 180 miles, I thought....
An average of 3 miles per hour walking speed; that's sixty hours.
Divide that by eight and you get eight 7.5 hour days of walking.
So just over a week (not including breaks of course).
But when you showed the terrain I thought, wow, that's gotta be two weeks walk 'at the least'.
Then you said you were pushing for 20 miles a day; and, considering some of the terrain I thought, " 👀 "
    'respect'

It was a real highlight and through all the places I've travelled around the world, I know that this walk will always hold a spot in my 'reel of life' memories :) My daughter is nearly 11 and, whilst my partner probably isn't the shape to be able to do the walk again, I'm hoping I can get my daughter to do the walk with me. I walk her and hour to school and an hour home now and hoping to build that up, she's done a few of the challenging hill/mountain walks in the Peaks/Lakes, so I think she will be ready next summer!

A couple of tricks to keeping kids happy that might help.
Give them the compass and a copy of the map. If they're leading the way, it will be exciting for them. Just double check every now and again.
Give them their own 'responsibilities' in camp. Keeping the porch tidy and puffing up the sleeping bags are good ones.
Nice big carrot for the end of the day. Hot chocolate and biscuits work well.
Keep them dry and keep asking questions about the route. All these help keep my son in the moment and enjoying himself.

And the lake District is lovely and you really wander if you are in England with the mountains there n lakes etc. We stayed in Penrith one time and another time we camped on a farmer's field. Surrounded by mountains. And another time we stayed near Carmel. There is a famous racecourse there. We crossed it to do a hike what we were doing with our children. Near sawrey is my favourite place in the lakes. You can visit Beatrix potters home that she left to the national trust. It is a museum. It really is amazing. She bought farms and left them all to the national trust in her will. Cos she didn't want anyone building rubbish on the land and keeping it as it is. Beautiful land there in Cumbria

Brilliant, well done, that’s something I would have liked to have done when much younger, I am an old timer now, but thanks to people like you we are at least able to experience a little of what it was like, thank you Liam. BTW, Whitby Fish and Chips are the best, and I say that as a Lancastrian.

I did the coast to coast last year and the north york moors was one of my favourite parts! Obviously knew the lakes were going to be goregous but I was really taken aback by the moors and had some of my favourite days in that area

Hey Liam really enjoying the videos! Just wondering have you considered ever doing the hike to the UKs most remote pub,the old forge, in Scotland? I think it would make a great trip for you and it would be something I’d love to see!

Ohh interesting , will look it up, Tan Hill Inn is very popular with Coast to Coasters / C2C and they sign the Book 📖.

I did this walk in around 2006-07. It looks like there's a lot more infrastructure to it now. More defined. I remember being miserable as hell during the last few days on the North York moors in the rain and wind and although they're beautiful, they're nothing compared to the dales or lakes. Cheers for bringing back some great memories.

You couldn't be more wrong about the North York Moors, there's many stunningly beautiful parts, walking the coast to coast across the bleak tops of the moors you just haven't seen them. The Lakes cannot be beaten, but the Dales is no way nicer than the Moors if you know it properly. I live in the area and regularly visit all three.

I did the Coast2Coast last may. Such a beautiful walk and definitively a challenge with the ups and downs! Thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to do it, the landscapes and people are amazing and pub food after a full day of walking was incredible!

Well done. You can honestly say you've walked all over this country. From top to bottom. And now coast to coast. Another great achievement and you've got a bit of colour in your cheeks👍👍
