    That's the way it should be everywhere! Animals and humans living together, respecting each other.

    • @JanusHoW
      @JanusHoW ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ideally, animals should regard us with benign indifference. Not hostile, but not too friendly. Overly friendly animals may come to associate humans with food, and thus lose their wildness.
      Though trust is also very good when contact becomes impossible for either party to avoid...

    So is nobody going to acknowledge how surprisingly quiet they are when they walk? It’s actually in their anatomy; elephants have very soft, and padded feet, allowing them to walk without being loud at all!

    Here's the details: The mango eating elephants of Mfuwe Lodge
    Every year, between late October and mid December the elephants arrive at Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The whole family of elephants comes to eat the wild mango (Cordyla africana) fruits which fall from a tree just beyond the open plan lobby.

    A wonderful sight, but I suspect it can be stressful for the staff at the same time, especially if there's a newborn in the herd. When there's a calf of that age in their midst, every other member of the herd is involved in its protection. If any guest is foolish enough to approach the baby, they could get trampled or gored by a protective mother, aunt or grandma, and the generations of trust could be shattered.

I am a Canadian living in western Canada and a roundtrip airfare for me and my wife is $6,000.00 economy or $20,000.00 first class to Zambia. I am not wealthy, just frugal and prioritize my costs so that my wife and I can visit anyone of a dozen different African countries each year. You can do it too, just need to make it a priority. You will not be disappointed, provided you book the optimal time to be there and book well in advance, i.e. 12-18 months!
