Thanks for a great episode. It's such a joy to watch you two lovely young men. It was good to see Linus again too. I finished a sock heel while watching, so I was productive. I love Hallmark movies. It was not on Netflix in Canada but luckily my public library had it. Loved the socks for Betty Ann. She will love them. I'm excited for the souvenir Kal. I plan to knit a pair of socks with yarn I picked up in Scotland when I was there. It's purchase has (what I think) is a good (to me) story. I'm sure you will love Iceland. My son in law just came back from Iceland and brought me back some beautiful yarn. I look forward to hearing about your trip. Looking forward to the next episode.

The only Hallmark movie I have seen is Love on Iceland! Watched it before I went there last fall! Yarn is everywhere! Pack those vacuum bags or take an extra suitcase. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

Still watching but I don't want to forget this thought: Thank you Scott for asking John the "why" questions. For me, I love knowing why you got frustrated or why you hate dpns, etc. It helps me decide what to knit next, how to fix it for me, what works and what doesn't. For example, just saying "dpns drive me crazy" is very different from "colorwork with dpns is too fiddley". That's not what you said. But the detailed whys from both of you are very appreciated!

Ha! I just watched what I would call a “Hallmark” genre movie tonight on Netflix-The Royal Treatment! I’d recommend it-let’s see if it makes the cut 😀
I went to Iceland in 2018. There is a great yarn shop just down the street from the Halgrimskirja church in Reykjavik. I wore a hat today knit out of Icelandic wool from that store. :)

Oh my gosh, yarn everywhere... even in the grocery stores! Be sure to stop at the Allafoss yarn factory outside of Rek for Lopi yarns! My friend and I drove/camped the Ring Road in 2018 and it was a fabulous trip. Picked up some beautiful hand dyed yarns in Eastern Iceland and... again... Allafoss! Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

I made fingerless mitts with the Croft yarn. I really liked it. It is super nice after it's washed. I'm a fan and your sweater looks great.

OMG!!!!! You are going to LOVE Iceland. We've been there twice (in fact, we plan a layover there on the few occasions we've been to Europe so we don't have such a long flight). All the grocery stores have wool for sale there- nice wool! And...you need to go to the Handknitting Association of Iceland while you are there! Also, go horseback riding on the lava fields (if you like horses). They are much smaller than American horses and they have a totally different gait. It was SO MUCH FUN!

I need to tell you guys a movie to watch. It's A Love Yarn about a lady in Australia who owns a yarn store. The screen writer happens to be a yarn dyer also. Not sure where all you can find it, but I know you can on TH-cam.
Another great episode!! Thank you! You will LOVE Iceland! There is much yarn to procure. I suggest you take an empty suitcase for the trip home. You will see lots of sheep roaming the country side! I was in Iceland in September - was an amazing trip! Pack your bikinis and stop at Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik for a few hours - you will not regret the experience! Save your receipts so you can request a tax refund at the airport. It takes a while to get the refund but I got almost $100 back!

Romance movies with knitting! You must watch "A Love Yarn," then! The screenwriter is a friend of mine, and she based the female lead (who owns a yarn store) on a mutual pal who (wait for it) owned a yarn store. It was originally a Christmas movie, but it was bought on the condition that she de-Christmas the story. It was filmed in New Zealand in 2020, stars nobody you know, and came out last year.

Scott, the yarn you asked John about at the 8.58 mark is Malabrigo Rios and the colorway is Cielo Y Tierra. I only know that because I just finished a hat with it and I asked John about the colorway back when it was a different hat.

Did you have to change your number of stitches for your socks with mohair? I think it would make DK or Sport forgot. So pretty want to try it.
I didn't - it makes the fabric slightly more dense but it works great. The silk thread for the mohair is so thin it really doesn't change the weight of the yarn that much.

Lol....i love/hate Hallmark movies...especially. Christmas. I cannot remember which, they kinda run together, one inspired a Christmas afghan. It took me January through October
Learn to knit on 2 circulars, and you will NEVER pick up dpns again, for anything! I use 10-16 inch circs to finishing socks - toes, heals, and tops of hats. 😁
I desperately want Love on Iceland to be filmed in the style of a high-concept Björk video, but I'm guessing not so much.
Maybe it is a high concept Bjork video disguised as a Hallmark movie…
John: for alternating skeins I do helical knitting, which is not what you appear to be doing since I saw a twist of stitches. Helical has absolutely no twisted stitches and is completely invisible. I’ll try to post a link to the video I watched. She shows a two color alternating skein version but works for just alternating any two skeins to blend them perfectly.
