Thanks for mentioning that about the ants. After the plant nursery across the street moved our fire ants went away. But we still have 'regular' ants. I leave them alone because they turn the soil. If I say that out loud, I get looked at like I have two heads. As a side note I watch ants for the weather when I walk every day. They close up the hill if it's going to rain. I started noticing several months before Helene that they would be closed up, but in an odd way. Like they were dead, even though it hadn't rained for a long time, and none was coming anytime soon. I would disturb them and get no activity unless I went deep. Even then they were slow and few. They're still that way. The hills that pop up overnight are like that, too. I'm sure they live under the road. Maybe they're just staying there and not coming up much for some reason. Any thoughts?
