    Any and all STL Files for this project are now available for download on my website! I also apologize for the Anakin quote. It was something of a running joke at work, because hey, how often do things actually work perfectly on the first try? I'm big on movie quotes, so... yeah. You'll come across one frequently. Even bad ones.I'm also so sorry about the audio issues. It's far too late now to do anything about it, and I certainly understand all your frustration, but I sure appreciate your sticking with me on this one.

      i have the exact same monitor from a HP here. Just wondering why not leave the TFT enclosed in its original black housing. This way the hinges can be reused and its better protected for cleaning the front side.

    "You can see that building an external monitor is really as simple as buying a controller and plugging it in...... as smart as this video is Mike, I think that this build is slightly more difficult than plugging a controller in.
    awesome build by the way

    • @ERRENTPRIM
      @ERRENTPRIM 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it actually is that simple. You kinda just need to know what to buy. What was kinda of glossed over in this video was getting the right power connector and power supply. I had a lcd monitor and controller sitting on my desk for a few weeks because I didn't have the right charger. Got one now, tho

  • @hogwashsimulator1908
    @hogwashsimulator1908 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Depending on the laptop you use for this you can sometimes reuse all or part of the original screen casing/frame(i don't know what it's called). It probably won't fit the controller but considering you have to build something anyway, modifying it can be easier.

  • @Neuron43

    I'm only half way through the video and your portable secondary screen looks incredibly similar to a pc monitor!

    That's actually a really good design, I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to work out how I was going to build mine, this is a really versatile and best of all portable design. I'll be hopefully using a small step up converter so I can run mine off a 2a usb plug though. Thanks for the inspiration

      Hmm a USB step up to 12v sounds nice. So I can power it up via my desktop computer, via a USB charger, or via a USB power bank.

    Thanks to your channel, I solved a problem where LCD controller board (ext. monitor) and laptop have their own power supply. So, I branched my laptop's adapter cable, one line to laptop (19 V), while the other one to external monitor using step-down XL4015 CC/CV (12V-1A). Previously, I used LM2596 (CV), but the module exploded due to overheat. It's my first time did some project like this.

    what if you just took the keyboard off then just sandwich the two pieces together. You will still have access to the USB ports power ports and headphone port. If you did a wireless connection between your main setup and the now sandwiched laptop, all you need to make is a stand for the laptop.
