Also David LaFleur drops half the balls thrown to him. In 2000 we lose Galloway and Ishmail in 6 weeks. My point for two years they gave Troy trash to work with, stick with OLD lineman like Nate Newton and let the Giants sign away our other guard of the future away in Ron Stone (Our line in 1996 going forward in the middle could have been STONE, STEP AND ALLEN....much better than Newton ever was...NOPE...in that two year frame 1996-97 Jerry because he sold his soul to Deion we could not form a great offense around Troy and this is with Troy giving back money every year and in those two years Emmitt plays like trash, gets a HUGE contract and he only helped the team ONE TIME by restructuring his deal...GREEDY EMMITT....THAT is the same thing Stephen, who almost knocked Jerry out for the Deion deal, does not want to go through the same history with the Dak deal because he is being so greedy. Again...Walker could have been an amazing weapon for us....but we did not use him and if ever there was a QB we should have let call his own plays it was the guy that the Packers GM RON WOLF called :"THE CERERAL ASSASIN" TROY AIKMAN
Great comment. I saw others in the comments saying that we just stopped using Herschel when he was brilliant and I immediately wondered if Smith was anything to do with it. Also I heard Aikman always gave up money for a stronger team because he knew rings were everything. Thanks for the information.
@@ingurlund9657 Troy restructured his contract every year so the Cowboys had more money to play with, Emmitt only did it one time. Troy played the role as head coach until Gailey got there and he has problems with Gailey in his second year as head coach. When your coach as by design takes Irvin out on THIRD DOWN??? Look at the roster, Ernie Mills was great until he was inured. Rocket was finally the compliment to Irvin we needed. Who knew that Antony Miller was going to play so bad? McKnight was fine and then lost in preseason in the Blue and White scrimmage for the year. I do not blame Emmitt for the lack of Walker being under used, I blame Swtizer and ack Reilly. . Herschel should have been our version of Preston Pearson. Look at the stats for Emmitt in 1996 and 1997,
I have 95% of every Cowboys game on dvd since the 1977 season When you watch our offense from 1995-1997 you see no creativity, especially when it was needed with an O line that was OLD. Horrible personnel decisions were made with Ron Stone being signed away and sticking with old Nate Newton and not resigning Stepnowski was the worst decision made. Look at Landry, from 1960-1988 he used at center Mike Connolly, Dave Manders, Fitzgerald, Shaw and Rafferty There were Walker and Davis but they were used for injury. Rafferty would have stayed at guard his entire career until Shaw who was our future great center was lost for his career due to injury. Look how many centers that is for 29 years. That is how important that position is....Look at when Jerry did not resign Ken Norton who in 1993 was moved to MLB and he played half that season with torn triceps.....an injury that is season ending and Jerry lets him walk to the 49ers of all teams. Landry from 1960-88 used 5 players at MLB (Patera, Tubbs, Jordan, Bruenig and Lockhart and Patera was lost after the 1960 season) Outside of QB those are your two main other positions....Landry had stability and greatness.. Jerry did not think like that. Jimmy only used speed as the main criteria for LB and did not value that position. Sean Lee and Dat Nyguen made Jerry rethink that and now we value that position. We had Randall Godfrey walk. Parcells just wanted an upgrade over Coakley As for Walker again, Reilly and Switzer did not value what he brought and did not use him enough. Troy wanted him in more but he did not get that . Look at 1998...Troy made use of Billy Davis who never should have been our 3rd WR let alone our #2, Also if not for us bringing in Chris Warren in 1998 Emmitt never gets his Payton record. Emmit was a shot horse in mid 1996 and all of 1997. . Yes Troy redid his contract every year for us to have money that Jerry for the most part wasted on bad players, add bad drafting...and because Troy had to re-do his contact every year because Jerry spent poorly......Coach Campo who was a VERY god coach had 7-11 players no longer on the team making 20 million on our cap....that KILLED Campo and Dave got a bad rap. i am in the process of writing 2 Cowboys books. i am a lifer DC fan born and raised here in Philly...fan since 1976. I speak truth and many felow Cowboys fans hate for me it
I’m a life long cowboy fan as well and agree on the important positions at center and MLB outside the QB. I think Jerry made 3 very bad decisions at coach after Jimmy ( Switzer Gailey Campo) they were all 3 jokes and regressed the Cowboys back going into the 2000s... then Parcells comes along and tries bringing his old players from the past.... which was another mistake... Jason Garrett for 10 yrs was another long mistake... with no discipline... bad drafting by Jerry all these years and that’s why the Boys haven’t been back to the Super Bowl. I also agree not to give Dak that $$$.... not for a mediocre quarterback... they need to let him walk and trade up in next years draft and go all in on Trevor Lawrence in my opinion

BANG!
The cowboys had Herschel Walker Emmitt Smith Deion Sanders Michael Irving all at the same time
The year is wrong it’s 1989 Troy was in college in 87 and Jones bought the team in 89 not87
🐅
Dallas cowboys was 6 and 10 that year
I'm lost I thought they traded walker to get irvin & Smith in the draft..
They did, he came back for the 96 and 97 seasons though.
They drafted Michael Irvin a year before trading Herschel Walker.
😮😮😮..... I'm being serious. That's all the words I have. Did you see that?!!
☆HERSCHEL☆
Wow
He runs like Walter Payton
Super classic cowboys damn near blew ot
Someone send me some reasons that your confident that Walker was clean during this game.I'm his biggest fan.I'm 99% sure the JAG's was a playoff team.
Clean?
Dude was always a beast, why does this game make you think otherwise. His age, but if you know what kind of athlete he is/was then I don't think you would question him.
As a very young kid he would do 1000 push ups and situps daily. He stayed in peak conditioning his entire career and we all know what he did in college and had a nice professional career as well. IIRC, he was doing professional MMA at like the age of 45.
This wasn’t 1997, it was 1989.
Yes, it is a 1997 game because Jacksonville didn’t have a franchise in 1989. Herschel came back to play for Dallas, his last two years in the league.
Nice run..but that was poor effort from the defense..😂😂😂
Not 1997

Ridiculous. You don't try to arm tackle Herschel Walker.
