I was a certified croc hater until I was gifted some in august 😭 I hate to say it but they’re so practical. I have completely replaced my slides with my light pink crocs. I think the key is knowing where to actually wear them

Crocs are ugly but comfortable, they're good to wear about the house but not out anywhere outside except from grocery shopping 😭

@@lemonstarry EXACTLY! I wear mine to the grocery store occasionally but like, not to an actual function. The unspoken law of crocs 😂😂

I think the uggs trend is funny bc as an australian i grew up with uggs being house shoes to keep warm, not something you wear out. Theyre not really designed to be worn outside🤷‍♀️ i do think theyre cute tho! I thrifted a grey pair with cute chains and straps on them and i wear them inside during winter!

I have the theory that UGGs are popular only for people who use cars because a little bit of rain or mud ruins them. I've never seen them on public transportation in my third world country.
I've seen some at Uni campuses and it's always people who lives a couple blocks away.

i’ve never understood why uggs have ever been considered the cute or stylish option. they look nice for 2.5 seconds when they’re brand new, and then they get wrinkly, saggy, salt-stained, and weird almost immediately. just like you said, they have NO longevity whatsoever. if you live anywhere that snows you’re cooked, but then what was the point of a winter boot? it’s nonsense

Practical shoes, for sure, as I age. If they're cute, great, but they have to fit right and be suitable for the activities I'll be doing. My favourite footwear right now is my pirate boots, or my generic Doc lookalikes that I decorated with rhinestones. My real Doc's are vintage steel toes, so quite heavy and not appropriate for colder weather.
Thank you for reminding me I want to sew a few balaclavas! I have a sport balaclava and a vintage ski mask with penguins that I've been wearing for almost two decades, but some other colours and weights would be nice. I live in northern Ontario, so they're just really practical up here.
If one likes the cafe racer jacket look, I highly recommend buying an early to mid 90s cafe racer style motorcycle jacket. Presuming it's been periodically oiled, it is well worth the $100-300 for a jacket that will live for another 20 years. If it's merely an "oh, that's neat" feeling, just skip it and don't support the production of more PVC garbage that will degrade within a few years.
Uggs and Crocs are both hideous and not worth the money to purchase new. Both can be very practical in certain applications, but the brand name is merely a status indicator that is irrelevant to their actual value, like Snap On tools or Samsung appliances. I'd buy second hand Uggs in a nice colour like maroon or blue, but my Columbia and Sorel boots are much more practical for my environment.
I'm seeing a common theme here, LOL! Fashion that doesn't fit my lifestyle is definitely being phased out of my wardrobe, but I have to live my life to know what exactly those parameters are.

Oh no! I had no idea big scrunchies were trendy. I just crocheted some giant scrunchies because I had some second hand yarn since forever and I didn’t know what to do with it. Scrunchies seemed like a good place to start learning crocheting. What a bummer, I hate it when things I like/wear become a trend. 😩

I think the open-back heels are mules! I mean, clogs are also mules, but mule heels. And 400% with you on that one, especially as a power-walker, haha. Agree with you on all of these with you, tbh, like some are really cool on other people, but not for me. Or they are uggs (they also get so gross on the inside?? the fluffiness flattens and then they are a little looser and progressively stinkier and not even weatherproof) or crocs…
(Also 👀 your bookcase is kind of 👌 I can see some good books on there)

I'm 44 and a stay at home mom with a teen and teen and a toddler. I used to hate Crocs until my husband bought our daughter and off brand pair she never wore. I started wearing them and decided to buy actual Crocs and I'm never going back. Comfort is all I care about. I have a pair of off brand ankle length Uggs I wear all the time, just because of the comfort aspect. When I was younger, I always wore the most fashionable shoes and gave myself bunions in the process. Now I have to wear ugly comfortable shoes or I'll actually die. 😅

I was gifted uggs in high school and 10+ years later I wear them around the house now but they are still in great condition! Wouldn’t wear them out though as I don’t think they are practical for this rainy winter season + I also don’t find them fashionable

im pretty sure they changed how they make them so if you buy a new pair now the quality is a lot poorer!

I bought crocs rain boots in a bright color years ago. (Without the crocs holes, obviously!) The foot felt great, but the tops hit at a weird place on my shin. Even after I knit boot toppers as a cushion, they didn't really work for me. Oh, and re: jersies. I recently thrifted a Knicks t-shirt to wear as a sleep shirt. I only got it because it made me think of Knicks superfan Joey from Friends. ("Yeah, the Knicks rule!") I've never even watched a Knicks game on TV, but just enjoyed the association for myself, which is pretty much what you suggest! #gosports!

I have a pair of Crocs I got on clearance at Marshall's pretty cheap that I pretty much wear in place of house slippers. They have a decent amount of arch support to them, so for me, they are really comfortable and practical when cooking, washing dishes, and doing laundry in my apt. bldg. where I have to go down to the laundry room, etc. But they are purely a practical, functional choice based on comfort, not style. Back when they first came out in the 2000's I had some I wore when gardening and of course, they are great for that too. I've seen (mostly the platform ones) styled in some cute (imo) ways, but it's not for me.

I love that even tho I had many thoughts throughout the first few items it was the crocs that brought
    Me here lmao
YES they’re a dorky looking shoe um maybe not fashionable to most but don’t shun a person for trying.. I think it’s dope especially in some of the example photos.. and I get that they’re not for everyone BUT similar to the note you made about liking “snatched” shoes , for me at least I usually will size up in every and any shoe I can. I hate restrictive shoes where I can’t wiggle my toes or slip them on and off easily just to let my feet breathe, so crocs are a necessity in my wardrobe for my body 🤷🏻‍♀️ #savethecroc #crocswillnevergooutofstyle they’re are just too many narrow and tight shoe options lol they do however have some downsides (that i can think of atm) 1) come summertime they can get too hot to wear
    2) they’re getting EXPENSIVE 🤷🏻‍♀️

Crocs are safer flip flops, but they wear out just as fast. At $40 a pair, it’s an unjustifiable expense to do several times a year.

@ did it ever occur to you you’re not the only person in the world and your experience is not universal? The treads on my crocs are completely smooth after a few months of wear, I busted my ass on wet pavement in them already, which means I would need new ones. My Tevas are cheaper to begin with and wear out slower.

Crocs are horrible. I remember when I was a little kid in the mid-late 2000s and they were the trendy thing and I felt peer pressured to have them but my mum kept telling me that they were ugly LMAO. A few years later I realised she was right and I wouldn't be caught dead in them now. I can't believe they've come back in style again. My 10 year old cousin wears them and when I tell her they are what I wore when I was her age she HATES it lmao
