I like the narrative structure of his original sequel trilogy as it seems cohesive and well planned.
However, if his direction from the Prequel trilogy is anything to judge by, than the dialogue and writing choices in his sequel trilogy probably would’ve suffered.
I feel that if George Lucas really wanted ideas to be translated to the big screen, he should’ve served as an executive producer for it while allowing other directors/writers to come in similar to his work on The Clone Wars Tv series that way he’d maintain his vision as that seems to be his strength now days.

Let’s all pretend that the original cast did not age 30+ years. Let’s cast a 60 something year old Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as young adults in their early 20s. Yeah, let’s do that.
Or, we can recast the entire original crew with new actors and run with the story Lucas had described. Yeah, let’s do that!
Disney chose to keep the original actors and tell a different story that takes place some 30+ years following ROTJ.

Leia becoming Chancellor would have been an amazing send off for Carrie Fisher and it would completed Padme's arc since she was considered to be the next Chancellor during the Clone Wars. And there is things that already were done by other writers, becoming of New Jedi Order, Leia becoming Chancellor AND jedi

@@mrzirak792 I'm talking in terms of base Star Wars, not EU. A lot of fans wanted the EU to be introduced into canon media.
While you are right about Maul being "recycled", he was already present in the Clone Wars, then Disney killed him off in Rebels.
On the other hand, in terms of actual recycling, we have The Force Awakens, which is almost beat for beat a rehash of A New Hope, just with new names that were never mentioned before. Then we end with the surprise return of the main villain from all the previous movies and his defeat through a team-up of the main protagonist with a dark side user turned good.
That's what I meant with recycling. In George's version they wouldn't be fighting another unified empire, but a crime syndicate spread across all worlds. They'd be trying to rebuild instead of going into another war to defend whatever is there and so on.

My thinking is... you can sorta tell Last Jedi had ideas in mind, plot threads that could've been picked up, like Snoke, a potential thing between Rey and Ren (no... that- that thing they did in RoS doesn't count, not when he drops dead a second later), and Broom Boy being force sensitive. The problem is after the severe backlash to Last Jedi and Disney's desperate attempt to interest the fans, ALL plans were thrown out the window, thus, RoS was born in a dumpster with the director from the first film, who essentially recycled old material.
I know a lot of people don't like hearing this but Abrams was the worst. At least Johnson had different ideas and tackled them. Abrams stayed safe by rehashing A New Hope in TFA, and then recycling Palpatine in RoS. He had no originality. And so, he had no "plan" or endpoint in mind.

Disney feels like they intentionally avoid creating a canon or expanding the universe altogether just to keep nostalgia cash grab options open. The Disney timeline seems so barren that it’s just not that interesting anymore. The fact that they still seem unable to keep consistent with what little is there is insane. People would have rallied against him for the 2-3 year olds and other plot elements I'm sure, but in 10-15 years everyone would have made tons of money and been very happy.

The sequels have lost their audience over the short amount of time we've had, though. How do you see the sequels getting a better reception as time goes on? The prequel trilogy has been better received by time because (a.) the sequel trilogy is so bad that it looks good in comparison, and (b.) the third movie was well received at the time - the *culmination* of the trilogy was liked, which made people re-evaluate the trilogy as a whole.
I don't have a bone in this. I think prequels and sequels are trash. Long live the OT and Andor. But I don't see how one can think the sequels will be re-evaluated positively over time.

@@TheWickedWizardOfOz1 Those are fair and valid points. For my thought process: I think a lot of the political social choices in episode 8 will gain more acceptance (replacing relevance) as time goes by because they will more accurately reflect where our society will be in the future. I also think the scene where Yoda tells Luke he should have shared his failures with his padawans will be well received, also - in addition to Rey being shown her parents as actually being herself - and finally - putting Palpatine as the main villain in the final episode will be seen as a smart way to wrap up the "transcending death" storylines which were alluded to in the prequels, but nothing more.
I will also say that RotS isn't particularly good. It's better in contrast to episodes 1 and 2 but there is plenty wrong with it, just a short list: Grevious is not compellingly evil to an adult audience, the final lightsaber fight while flashy, goes on too long, the CGI is underwhelming and ends strangely, (aside from the well done cinema from the shocking aftermath showing Anakin literally being disarmed.) Ian McDiarmid was never told he would have to perform the sword fights until day of, and it shows. The Darth Vader suit origin aka Frankenstein scene is particularly off-putting. If anything while RotS is aesthetically more pleasing and darker, episodes I and II contain more lore to discover and contemplate particularly the Qui Gon Jinn, Obi-wan, Anakin dynamic, Boba Fett origins, and Shmi's death being the catalyst for Anakin's path towards .. well, tyranny.

I think that for all the issues in the prequels, they still reasonated with the fans and made sense in the canon since George Lucas for all his weird decisions still cared about it, Disney ruined it due to incompetent writters that don't understand the original material and a bit of unecessary political pandering(ex: "The Force is Female"). Just embrace all alternate realities the way Marvel/DC do. It would at least give George’s story another shot, and would legitimize Legends material, and Visions anime content. This is how I would do it. I always felt the biggest missed opportunity
was not showing how Luke and Leia ran the order. That was one of the
things that I feel would have made it better. This is how I would make it.
Rey should have been Anakin reincarnated, explaining why she is so strong, her connection to the skywalkers, why Anakin's saber called out to her, why Anakin's ghost was absent, ect. Both he and Palpatine come back but in different ways, where Palpatine just puts his soul in another clone body, while Anakin, fearing the return of the sith, gives up his immortality and reincarnates into a completely different body. Rey and Finn also fall in love. Never was that big of a fan of Reylo personally as I always saw them having more of a brother/sister relationship than a romantic one. Rey would also actually have to train as well. xD Instead of just learning stuff that even the chosen one had to train for. She'd still be gifted but I felt she learned stuff too easily.
You also could have not had starkiller base. Don't even mention planet destroyers until the final movie, where they release a couple dozen star destroyers but they destroy well known planets like, Dantooine, Hoth, ect. Rey joins with Luke's new order and after Luke sacrifices himself to prevent Palpatine from killing them, 4 main Jedi go to Exegol to defeat the emperor. Rey, a scavenger and former slave who freed herself and the reincarnation of the chosen one. Finn, a storm trooper that was part of an experiment to artificially create force sensitive storm troopers. Ben, formerly known as Kylo and a former knight of ren, and Poe, a former Jedi from Luke's order and became a bounty hunter who uses the force.
Poe, Finn, Rey and Ben join together to fight hoards of sith marauders and sith troopers and finally face the emperor. Leia unites the warring factions that were manipulated by the sith as well as the knights of ren and snoke and his loyalists. There are light sided, dark sided and even gray sided orders shown here, and they all have their own beliefs and agenda.Rey technically fulfills the prophecy since she is the reincarnation of the chosen one and she destroys Palpatine once and for all. Her being the reincarnation of the chosen one would really make the sequel trilogy feel like it's part of the Skywalker Saga. Think about it. Prequels showed Anakin's life as a Jedi, then the originals showed his life as a Sith and with the sequel trilogy, it would show the reincarnation of Anakin: Rey, living a new life and a new adventure. Now be honest, tell me what you think. I personally think something like this would have made the sequels amazing.

The prequels was about two waring sides of equal military might only for both the republic and separatis to be played by Palpatine.

Needs a bit of work but it has potential.
I like the idea of Maul being the new big bad and training a new Sith but that idea was done already in the shows where Maul was eventually killed by Obi-Wan. So, maybe instead of Maul it could have the Night Sisters as the new villains that way the prophecy of Anakin destroying the Sith remains intact and we just face a new threat.
I would also take the idea of having a Storm Trooper turned Rebel hero and revealed to be a Force User as that's honestly a great idea just wasted. On a side note since Lucas always intended the hero of the next trilogy to be a girl I would also change said Storm Trooper to a girl and use Lucas' original name for Rey which was Kira and just cast John Boyega as Kyle Katarn and give him his own spin-off series.
Makes better use of Boyega and he gets to be cast as fan favorite Kyle who, quite frankly, he's a perfect fit for.
And yes before, anyone asks, Kira would still be black because I see no reason to change the character's race.
Onto Lucas' other ideas I LOVE his take on Leia and Luke, Leia becoming Supreme Chancellor of the New Republic? HELL YES!!! Great way to end her character arc, she started out as a Princess who was also a Rebel Fighter and became leader of the New Order. Way better upgrade then General who does nothing.
And Luke actually training a new generation of Jedi. Well I can see why that was tossed aside, it actually fit with his character arc from the last film and why do that when we can just retread his arc from Return of the Jedi.
I also think want to include a Thrawn type character and imply that the events of the Extended Universe mostly happened the way it did with a few key differences. Chewie is alive, Mara is alive, Han and Leia's son didn't fall to the Dark Side but died heroically and they only had twins and we also have Luke and Mara's son Ben.
So, yeah, needs a bit of work but honestly sounds a lot better then Disney just lazily retreading the original Trilogy.
I would say don't have Lucas write the script just get people who could help him realize his vision but still have him be involved.
Personally I would ND Stevenson to write the script and Steven Spielberg direct the first film at least and the rest if he would be interested.

What's even more wild is George had something like this planned since the 80s, Mark gave an interview where George told him he'd play Luke passing the torch to someone new around the year 2011
And we'll probably never see the full story of Star Wars the way George intended

I don't trust Lucas or Disney at this point. Both have sold out. The ones who helped in the EU made really good stories. Not all of them were perfect, but they were way better than what George had planned or what Disney has done.

Until the Yuuzhan Vong, legends suffered the same problem Disney canon suffers from. Too reliant on imperials as main enemies. It was better than current canon but something new like George imaged would be best

@@loganwendigo937 Of course, this also doesn't have to be sequels to the trilogies. EU talked about a whole bunch of things in the past as well as the future. Knights of the Old Republic has potential.

So it’s just confirmed that any continuation movie of episode 6 is absolute trash. Got it.

We only need 1-6 that’s all lol. I know there are eu novels comics and games after rotj that are really good that I enjoy but 1-6 is a complete story. Bringing maul back and having Leia be the chosen one is stupid.

Yeah, this is not a good plan. He clearly came up with it after the disney sale, and this whole storyline requires making the movies in the late 80s/early 90s. He would have had to come up with a plan that facilitated decades of time passing.

Honestly that sounds perfect. It would bring back an old foe from the prequels. It would give Luke and Leia the screen time they deserve. And it would setup a future trilogy with new characters
