Evolutionary Biologists on Sex and Gender + How They Have Seen an Increase in Transgender Students

Evolutionary biologists Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein - interviewed by John Papola on his podcast TH-cam Channel, Dad Saves America. In this clip, they discuss sex and gender, and reflect on observing (as professors) how their student’s diagnosis’ have changed in a very worrying way. Several years back, the predominant mental health issues amongst them was anxiety, ADHD, and depression, which shifted to transgender identity and gender dysphoria. This sudden change led them to wonder what exactly had shifted in the culture, especially since they were young. They emphasize that, as biologists, they view sex as binary, with Heather stating it's '…as basic as two plus two equals four.' They also see no reason for youth to identify out of their sex-based oppressions because compared to generations before, this one appears on the surface anyway, to have way more freedom to be however they like to be without the barriers of sexism from the past.
