This video is 4 years old now and you may not even see this comment, but thank you so much for this little tutorial of how to get these rails on. I ride a speedmaster and got these rails which came with no instruction, this video was all I needed to figure everything out. Appreciate you sir. Slainte from Houston Texas!
Nicely done video. "Slotting" the bottom attachment point of the bracket allows it to be installed with only having to loosen the silencer bracket bolt rather than go through all those other steps to remove it. And it makes it a lot quicker to remove if you feel like riding stripped down.
Happy to have found this video. It may have swayed me to a Bobber as the previous belief in lack of luggage options had kept me from one. As all your videos are done, top quality work! Your video quality is second to none.
Hi Stuart, would you know what the measurement from the top of these bars is to the exhaust is? I'm wondering if they could be used with the LOMO adventure bags, large or medium? Again another great video to give confidence to try it.
Beautiful bike, sir. My only turn off with this bike was the lack of luggage. I ride all year round and commute to work. So bags are important to me. Cheers from CA.
@@stuartfillingham7011 I'm in love with a couple of the Triumph modern classics. How do you feel about the day to day usefulness of the T120? Or the Speed Twin?
So once you get the pannier rails in place, where do you then hang your bags from? Are you slinging them over the fender because the rails don't look centered over the rear fender.
@@stuartfillingham7011 Hi, it wasn't the strength of the panniers I was concerned about, it was more the length and centering your throw over bags on the fender and I assume tying them down so they don't slip forward.
@@markmasztal2253 hi Mark. All bags designed for the bobber strap directly to the rails. So throw over panniers wouldnt be suitable. There are not many available as yet!
Thanks for putting this up. I haven't owned a bike for 25 years until I recently picked up one of the new Speedmasters. Triumph's service manual (which I had to rent time in order to download!?) has me taking the rear mudguard and the silencer off just to put on the rails! After seeing your video, I'm going to see if I can gently work around those pieces!
@@joeyiacona I basically followed @stuartfillingham's youtube video, and paused as I went through the steps. I remember the silencer being a bit of hassle, but overall it wasn't bad. As to your other question re passenger/legs with panniers mounted - it's impossible. Triumph marketed the Speedmaster with the touring package, but the panniers get in the way - I should have suspected when I didn't see an actual use-case picture of pannier & passenger!
Interesting that you went with the polished rails on the Bobber Black. I went with the black rails for my Speedmaster ,because I think too much bling looks like a tarts handbag. :)
@@stuartfillingham That certainly would explain it :) Thanks for the 'how to' vid BTW. It may be pretty straight forward ,but it's nice to see it be before spanner touches bike. Been down that road too many times with varying results. Edit: Update.I finally got round to fitting my rails to my Speedy. Long story short it was a frikkin horror show. They look good when they are on, but access to the bolts was hellish. Those underseat ones....sheesh.That is all.
Just came across your video on the pannier rails for the bobber and I have one question. How do the bags stay on the rails? My bags came with 2 straps that need 2 bolts removed to fit, one under the saddle and one below the rear handrail on my Speedmaster 2021. But on the bobber there are no bolts to attach to. Cheers
Absolutely love your channel and content. I have been a subscriber for a good few months now.. After watching just a few of your vlogs I knew this was the channel for me. I have been a biker on and off for 40 years but there have been big gaps.. the last one which I have just pulled myself out of (hope you saw what I did there). was for 11 years.. Just under a month ago I went and bought myself a brand new Triumph Speedmaster with a gorgeous Red tank.. even though originally I wanted a black one like 99% of all my old bikes.. but due to someone called Covid and another guy Putin things are now really difficult to buy.. this includes black motorcycles.. Maybe Covid and Putin are bikers.. who knows.. Anyway.. the reason for this long drawn out comment is to say thank you for this vid, because I had put some of these luggage bars in my Motone basket but didn't buy them because the securing brackets were totally different when comparing them with the Triumph original ones.. So now after watching this, I have returned to Motone and bought a pair.. hoping they are long enough to stop my throw over luggage bags from rubbing up against the rear wheel.. which if they don't, I'm sure I'll find a way to make them work.. Thanks again.. Stay safe, Ride Safe 🏍 🤟😎
Hello, I put pannier rails from the Thruxton on it, it still works but the SpeedTwin is shorter, individual made panniers would probably look better, and because you could do longer touring with this bike without problems I think there is a customer need for them
Yeah im sure owners want them Manfred, but the trade in general is sceptical as to whether its going to be a long lasting model, if the production numbers dont reach a certain point, custom parts will remain scarce! @@manfredoesterwinter7902
That for me was always a put-off with the Bobber, its lack of carrying capabilities. That's a neat solution for panniers, but it really needs a piece of luggage that would bridge the gap between the side-cases,not so easy to make something like that, that would'nt ruin the look of the bike. And let's face it,you buy a Bobber because it's a beautiful bike.
Did I hear you say that there's a rack for the rear fender? That is what has stopped me from taking a serious look at the bike. I love to tour. Please answer. Vaughn
Great stuff .. Can I ask if you have a contact for the saddle bags ? Also liked the Motone rear bumper rail that you did a video on..I was thinking it would be good for a Stainless steel 10 litre Jerry can ..You'll know yourself the range isn't great on the Bobber.. Great videos and the info , detail you put into them is great.. Many thanks Andrew
Hi Walter, no it's not a stupid question at all. Triumph have a specific pannier designed for these shape rails. There are also one or two manufacturers making panniers with the same mounting method.
They look nice quality Stuart , those ratchet spanners look handy . What shop can I get a ounce of common sense {only kidding found a shop here } ha go steady.
Hey Stu, Great video and they do give a nice look to the 'Blobber'. "Reality TV"? Does this mean the release of a 'Made In Yorkshire' series? Will you be on 'Love Island'?
I forgot to mention in my attempt to be humorous earlier, that I love your video's Stuart..... They are very informative and I have benefited from your trusted advice when it comes to working on my T100.

Rails will support full weight of any panniers. As with the triumph rails.

What are the tallest bags that could fit in these rails without getting close to the exhaust?
What bags are people using for these pannier rails (excluding triumph bags)?
Is it supposed to come with new nuts or bolts?
What kind of bags are you going to fit on your Bobber?
Stuar what lifting grear would you recommend for bobber black
Thank you Bill
