Avildsen loved Stallone's original script for V and signed on to direct Rocky's final bout, only to have the studio intervene midway through the production and declare "Rocky, like Superman, doesn't die." This decision compromised the thrust of the movie's narrative completely, but Avildsen's protestations ("If Rocky doesn't die, there's no story") were overruled.
That's interesting that the host mentions the salt mine film vaults and that Sly talks about how the Rocky 1 Masters are still missing, because when the deleted 2001: A Space Odyssey footage was found in one, I wrote a "joke article" saying that the masters for Rocky (with the lost footage) was found in one as well.
I Liked the recut of Rocky 4 ALOT, it showed more of adrian and that's a GOOD thing! the ONLY part i didn't like was the alternate speech at the end, it felt hollow compared to the original cut!

Following the enormous box-office juggernaut of the second RAMBO movie it seemed Stallone could no longer differentiate between his two iconic characters.
Mr stallon is my idol in my childhood. I watched Rocky 4,Rambo1,2, first when I was in middle school south korea. There was justice,hero,stubborn courage in his movies.I grew up while I watched his movies.And I wanted to be the heros like his movies. I purchased Rocky 4k collection now. And there is several new video angles in director's cut with fancy video quality. I really love Rocky 4's Tranning scenes with great music. Maybe his Rocky 4 would be best rocky movie for great music & artistic scenes.

Sly is a very talented and intelligent man, he loves Rocky and it shows, that behind that awesome movie there is a message an a lot of heart.
I was really impressed with the recut. It felt more in place with the first two films dramatically.
I would love to see Sly get an opportunity to tinker with Rocky V and give us a cut closer to the workprint.
That movie is unsalvagable.
