When my husband was 16 years old, at a youth conference, another kid told him “God told me you don’t have diabetes anymore.” So my husband who had no discernment yet (how many 16yo’s have discernment?) took off his insulin pump. He nearly died because of false prophecy.
False prophecy is not just an “oopsie.” Bethel church teaches that prophecy must be practiced and it’s ok to mess up prophecy. Scripture is opposed to this teaching. Let us all pray for discernment 💜

There are 16 year-olds with greater spiritual discernment than people my age ( I am nearing the 5-0 ).
It wasn't the fact the person was 16. There were other factors instead.

Once a friend came to me and said they had been praying about me and they felt God had given them a word to tell me. I appreciate it how the person asked me to pray about it and see if it was really was for me. They didn’t presume it was actually God or expect me to obey without thinking about it. I thought the person handled it very well.

I was once a victim of false prophecies given by a false prophet, which led me into severe depression and caused me to waste three years of my life(2020 - 2022).
Now, I choose to forgive and move forward. This tragedy occurred mainly because, at that time, I chose to follow this person instead of Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, I still believe that the Holy Spirit speaks to us every day, but we must rely on Jesus to discern the true from the false, not on any particular person. By diligently studying God's Word (logos), we can distinguish whether the rhema and prophecies are in accordance with God's teachings.

This was one of my devotional passages this week. Also, a powerful story showing the importance of us staying obedient to God’s Word to us, even when we desire for someone else to “confirm” that word or have to deal with a season of isolation. I truly believe that’s what the prophet experienced and that emotion cost him everything.

Excellent teaching! Also, look at Queen Jezebel and Ahab….The danger of compromise and mixing idolatry (prosperity doctrine, man worship, running after “words” more than and/ or rather than Jesus Christ), mixing witchcraft with God’s Holy gifts by unholy people. God can speak through anyone and still does as He wills, but there is definitely some extra Biblical, scary stuff going on in some Christians circles. I was involved heavily in the prophetic movement at one time and God has been detoxifying and reteaching me about prophecy and His Gifts through the BIBLE in CONTEXT. Praise the Lord.

The best way to ensure that one is not misled by a false teaching or an incorrect advice is to be sure that one is following all of the counsel contained in the word of God and to compare every teaching and every advice to that same word. That word is the only sure safeguard against any error. It is not right to just allow anyone to give us advice without ensuring that it harmonizes with the word of God.

I would like to make to suggestions for everyone: Learn to hear God's voice for yourself and rely on that primarily. We learn God's voice by reading His word, hear what we KNOW he has already said. BTW if you have only read the New Testament, you haven't gotten a full picture and do yourself a disservice. Secondly, my experience has been that God can use anyone to speak to me, they often don't even know it. I have had complete strangers who weren't even Christians speak to me out of the blue, not even knowing what they were saying, and it would be the answer to something I had been seeking the Lord about.

Not necessarily. We are God’s hands and feet we are used to bring good news or instruction when needed. Going on the Word of God. When God in the form of the Holy Spirit instructs us to do something we can disregard that easier than hearing the same thing from someone familiar to us.

Thank you Allen for including the fact that people can be sincerely incorrect. Oftentimes followers of Christ mean to help however we must consider the TRUE source of our words.

Wonderful topic and teachings like this needs to taught more. I was a young Christian growing up and it was ao common to go see the people who comes to town and say they are prophets.
Well I'll never forget the day the Lord spoke to me regarding always going to get a word, from theses people who comes to town.
Therw was this prophet from Buffalo New York that came to town and he was said to be the man that you want to hear.
So I went to where he was and i had prayed that God woild give him a Word for me
So the prophet is in his lane flowing with words, seeing for everyone but me.
I prayed again because it was nearing thr end if service, Lord give this man a Word for me. Clear as day the Lord spoke to my spirit and said, these words that I can't forget:
I speak to you and you run around to hear me from another? So for years no prophet spoke to me, they woold see me and say things like, young lady I see so much but I can't saya word.
Or they would just look or stare and say the hand of God is on your life. Over the years the Lord have dealt me and tested me so. Now if anyone say anything to me, they really only confirm what God has told me or showed me. If they say anything that was not revealed to me in that moment I hear them however I pray as they speak to me about this, sometimes God lets me know in that moment if I should take heed or not.
If that is said doesn't line up with the word, I disregard with a thought.

I loved this video .. My take away is "DISCERNMENT" .. We will continuously get messages from GOD; during a preaching, our daily prayers, a sermon, or even a conversation. ("IF" we are following GOD, that is, and not ourselves): These messages are for "OURSELVES" .. Remember that we are not sent from GOD, we often think the messages we are given is about others and we need to tell others to apply it to "THEIR" lives .. This is the "wrong thinking", we need to apply these teachings from GOD into our own lives first; then share the changes we have made in our own lives, to help others to learn "Discernment" for themselves .. Thank you and GOD Bless everyone ..

All this is why it is of the utmost importance to be able to study, discern, and rightfully divide Gods Word for yourself. And furthermore this is why Bro. Parr created the Faith School Program.
I just completed it today, I recommend it to ALL PEOPLE, especially if you want to grow in the Lord. Period!!!

Mr Parr, this was (is) amazing video. Thank you so much. I felt like i was there, living in the pages on the Bible. I’ve read the Bible 3 times now cover to cover and never had this story been this vivid. Thank you. My revelation was, if God spoke to the real prophet, why did he suddenly think He would someone ride to speak to him? Please do more of these videos

This certainly sounds like YWAM, where people are so quick to have a "Word from the Lord" for people! "God told me to tell you..." and "I believe God would have YOU...". People in these scenarios never to seem to have the fear of the Lord on their lives when they "prophesy"!

Believe it or not this the THE story I always refer to when considering these "Men of God" who always talk about receiving a "word from the LORD." For some reason it's unknown and many Christians need to be more familiar with it! Thanks for this video!

when i was a kid, i had an episode of a severe asthma attack. back then, some people in the penticostal church we attended told my dad that "God" told them to toss my inhaler instead of administering it to me if they believe He could heal me. we were fairly new christians but my dad had the good sense to do otherwise once they left. two decades later, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. some other people who were in the words of allen "sincere but sincerely wrong", told my dad that "God" is telling him to call off the treatment and surgery as he would be healed supernaturally. again, my dad did otherwise and today he is in remission. it is by the grace of God that my dad knew how to exercise discernment otherwise we both could have been six feet deep or worse still, have our faith completely shipwrecked due to these false promises. unfortunately, there are innocent christians out there who are getting bamboozled simply because of self-proclaimed prophets claiming to speak on behalf of God and that's what makes my blood boil. what i want to say is thank you Allen for this video. this is the kind of wisdom that a lot of us in the church need.
