As an ex-Mormon, I am chagrined to see other Christians starting to believe that we need to have "Prophets and Apostles" today, when the foundation has been laid. The danger of continuing revelation for the church is that it will slowly start to contradict the scriptures. The Mormon church is the example of that for sure.

    • @disproveofthis
      @disproveofthis หลายเดือนก่อน +8

I agree NAR is a totally false doctrine but the modern day Apostle would be a church planter who follows the order set out by Christ and the original Apostles. Also if all the ministries of the Apostles have died with the original Apostles then by default so did the office of elders as it was the Apostles that set them in place.

    • @Dan-zk8qo
      @Dan-zk8qo หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@@disproveofthis Well, Ephesians 2:20 talks about the church being built upon the apostles and prophets with Christ being the cornerstone. Foundations are only laid once. The Elders, Evangelists, Teachers, etc. are built upon that foundation and continues today. Even the New Jerusalem's foundation stones {Rev. 21:14] are named after the original twelve [personally I think Paul replaced Judas as far as apostleship].

    • @disproveofthis
      @disproveofthis หลายเดือนก่อน +8

@@Dan-zk8qo i agree and i don't believe in NAR or what they say an Apostle is but if the office of the Apostle totally disappeared then there is no one from a biblical model that can appoint elders as they were appointed by Apostles.
But i put forward that the Apostle does still exist but the role has changed from it's original model as the foundation is laid.
On a building site the people who lay the foundations can't lay the foundations again as they are built but what they can do is use the skills they have learned to carry on building the structure and drawing in those with other skills to keep building the structure on the original foundations. The structure being the body of believers the church.
Matthias replaced Judas. Look up Acts chapter 1. Be careful going through TH-cam and listening to these as a source of truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and find mature Christians to fellowship with.
      Blessings

I do watch church online, but I'm under no illusion that there's a difference. There's a couple reasons I haven't made it to physical church lately.
    1) Social anxiety. I have autism, and going to social events is... not the easiest thing for me. Even if I go, I'd probably be sitting apart from anyone other than my family to avoid awkward interactions. Yes, going repeatedly might help, but... "coming together" is a bit tricky for me.
    2) Sleep schedule. This is where Satan has really been getting me... I've got a bit of a bad sleep schedule, and have *consistently* overslept on Sundays. And when I don't oversleep the second service, I've overslept the first service and had plans for the day, which... might not be the best thing, but it's what it's been.
Is this an excuse? Eh, lemme think... NO. It's more "alright, I know the issue with me, and it's different than the normal issue, I still need help though."
    Can you pray for me?

I started to believe that NAR, prosperity gospel, word of faith and all of that, was actual Christianity. But it disturbed me because it seemed so wrong; that their common denominator was the constant request for MONEY. Their messages were bizarre to me and it gave me a feeling of cognitive dissonance. My brother had witnessed to me over 40 years ago, and he lived a Christian life till he died in 2022. That led me to become a believer. Around the 1980s and 90s, he was going to a Baptist church but he had some "prosperity gospel" beliefs. Anyway he developed a grudge against me and stopped speaking to me in 2009 and although I begged for forgiveness for whatever it was I did, he never spoke to me again. That also made me rebel because I thought if he can't stand me, then I must be a sinner so abhorrent that there's no hope. He continued to be friendly with other relatives and friends that were obviously not Christian so this really hurt me. I was still a believer in Jesus but I couldn't adhere to a church or really study the Bible in any meaningful way. About 5 years ago, I started watching TH-cam videos by some solid teachers like Mike Winger, Justin Peters and Alan here. Something clicked with me and I realized that they were speaking the truth. I feel like a weight has been dropped from me. It saddens me that my brother died before ever being able to speak to him again and to this day I don't know exactly what I did. At least I am able to have a relationship with other family members that I hadn't spoken to since 2009. I pray I will see him again some day in heaven!

I was confronted about my lack of church attendance by Christian radio. Someone said something along the lines, "It's not that I need them in my life [though I do], not what I can get from them, rather that they need what I can give." There's more that I can do, but I've been taking more steps to serve, and it has been a blessing that I would never have received, or given, any other way. I never realized how valuable being in church three times a week growing up was until a few months ago (I'm 33). Be a church member, not to feel good or reluctantly obey, but to let God work in others through your service.

I agree that not everything is a demon. However, the “not everything is spiritual warfare,” is not biblical. Whether we are battling our own fleshly desires, other people’s ungodly words and actions, or actual demonic activity, we should be battling in prayer over them-which is spiritual warfare. Pray without ceasing. I think I get your overall message was not attributing everything to demonic activity, but we are always in a spiritual battle in this life.

    • @John-fk2ky

That’s true, but the issue here seems to be terminology. Pray without ceasing: good. Pray without ceasing while not availing yourself of any of the tools God has already graciously granted you through human ingenuity: bad. Basically, there are some things that are not only spiritual warfare but have physical components that you can take action on along with prayer.

As a Christian you need only put your faith 100% in Jesus and confess him as Lord. You’re right that when two or more people are gathered he is present…but he’s also present when you are alone. I talk to God all the time, and just because no one else is around doesn’t mean God isn’t listening. He hears all our thoughts before we even think them. And as for communion, that’s not a requirement for salvation…it’s an outward expression of your faith in Jesus but he never told us it was required to get into heaven. It’s like our good works…you could do a million of them and it won’t get you into heaven, only your faith in Jesus can do that…instead your good works are what God uses to judge what your rewards will be in heaven. As Christians we’re just called to repent of our sins, help those who need help, live the will of the Father, and spread our light to as many people as we can before our time is up. God bless you and your family….you’re doing just fine 😇

To be frank, as long is it isn't a CHOICE when in fact it may be possible just with difficulty as we ARE commanded to not neglect the assembly. That does in fact directly mean the "church". There are many reasons for this. Edification in particular.

Assembling to worship God is very important. What are people to do when they have a hard time finding a sound biblical church to attend? I was a charismatic for the first three decades of my life, then heard one sermon by John MacArthur that impacted my life forever! I prayed for months and attempted to speak to my pastor before I finally left my charismatic church. It took me almost a year to find another church because majority of the local churches in my area all teach the same false doctrines. After attending for about a year, the Pastor there started preaching that we could have female deacons while preaching that there are no such thing as female pastors. Although he definitely knows more Scripture than I do, I think that such doctrine is false and splitting hairs. The bible is clear on the issue of female pastors and deacons. I came from the teaching and acceptance of co-pastors, female pastors, female, bishops, and even female apostles. I know better now. I talked to my pastor about his position and his reasoning for the support of female deacons is because theologians of the past did not come to a clear consensus on why the wives of deacons had to have the same character traits as the deacons themselves (some translations say wives while others say women). He also argued that many women operated in leadership during the inception of the church. I explained that his argument for female deacons is the same argument that people use to support female pastors. He made it clear that he believes that Scripture is clear about the issue of female pastors. I believe that Scripture is clear about both issues and cannot understand the level of hermeneutical gymnastics that he had to perform to come to the conclusion that females cannot be pastors but can be deacons. He said that he uses a covenantal hermeneutic to interpret Scripture. As I struggled through this, the pastor was pressing me to join the church and said that it was unloving to simply visit and not commit to being a member of the church. I made the decision to leave that church and I've been in search for a sound biblical church for about 4 months now. In the meantime, me and my family listen to and watch sermons by John MacArthur throughout the week and are currently looking for another church. We haven't participated in gathering for a while. My method is to check out the sermons on the church's website to see if it is theologically safe to visit before actually visiting. I'm a single mother of 4 who is trying my best to train my children in righteousness and do look forward to gathering again, but I have to be careful what doctrine I expose myself and my children to. If you read this super long post, please pray for us that God would leads us to a local biblical church. God bless you!

Great number 5. I would add one other thing, though. And that is where the church is failing the church. There used to be a thing called shut-ins. Those people who, for some reason, could not attend church. And, the church would go out to them and minister to them so they were not left alone. The church at large doesn't do that anymore. We strive to do this for lost, but in many ways we fail to do this our own.
I myself am almost there. Because of post stroke issues, I cannot do in person services. So, I attend on-line. But, I am involved in two small groups--one mixed group, and one for men only. There are individuals who speak into my life, and I into theirs, for correction and encouragement. I try to find ways to serve within the limitations I currently have. So, I am not isolated. Many others are, though. The church needs to remember those who are in situations like this, and find ways to include them--visiting them, blessing them in various ways, etc.

That’s a funny quip but doesn’t really engage with the substance of the grievance. Going to the racetrack instead of church probably isn’t a good alternative, but abstaining from a particular church or multiple because there are hypocrites can be incredibly important. At my church some years ago it was revealed that the pastor had been physically abusing his wife for years, and a large number of the congregation knew but didn’t speak up or report it. I refused to continue attending because of hypocrites, because I will not endorse actions like that with my attendance. I found a different church, and so should that husband, but people watching sports are not the same as Christians lying and covering up abuse.

As a Christian you need only put your faith 100% in Jesus and confess him as Lord. When two or more people are gathered he is present…but he’s also present when you are alone. I talk to God all the time, and just because no one else is around doesn’t mean God isn’t listening. He hears all our thoughts before we even think them. As Christians we’re just called to repent of our sins, help those who need help, live the will of the Father, and spread our light to as many people as we can before our time is up. God bless you and your family….you’re doing just fine 😇

We watch sermons on Sunday as a family, but we watch them randomly throughout the week and discuss and review Bible passages as the topics arise in daily life. Homeschooling extends to church life and vice versa. My children will (and do) know Jesus better than I ever did spending Sundays in church and nothing else. I don't think it's about checking a box. The bible encourages service to the body christ. You really can't do that a home with just your family. How exactly do you aid in spreading the gospel at home? How are you spiritually encouraged at home and vice versa? Not to mention, if you love others as Christ loves you, why ignore his people?

If you are truly active in Abiding in Christ then, your family, (especially raising kids) is the most important job as far as witnessing and serving and disciple making there is.
And with your family and children, it is the hardest job there is.
They see the real you and you have to live sincerely a godly life because they go on example before they will listen to you.
Anyone else is outside of your home, and are not watching you as closely and as often, and therefore it is not as difficult.
Your kids will grow up to be who knows what and maybe they will spread the word if you are serious about teaching them about Christ through your living and then your words.

Of course, this is part of living godly, for Christ, as Christ’ living example, that is.
If you want your children and your family to see this, (you involved with others) this is witnessing, teaching through life, and you should involve your family in that as well.
      In most cases you can.
No one was speaking against doing that here though.
We all need to take a tally and evaluate ourselves. Because one can go into a church with the wrong heart and mind and do everything it does, on every event, every week, and you still be unhealthy spiritually and not even have a relationship with Him.
As Allen has said here, of course you “can”, do that, but Are you doing that?
So, one may need to ask themselves these questions, but it doesn’t make watching your sermons or having church at home anymore wrong than going outside the home to a church.
Though, all of that is important, but we mustn’t throw out other things that are just because one isn’t leaving the home to attend church
There are many personal reasons for that, we don’t know them all.
I have been in both scenarios. And agree to both scenarios.

First, I don't believe that you were necessarily the audience that Allen was talking to- he was addressing the people who choose not to engage with a church. And note how he talked a lot about being active in the church- so he was ultimately also talking to the people who just show up on Sunday morning to check a box.
My church has several shut-ins who watch online but who are just as engaged in the church as anyone. They are incredible prayer warriors and spend hours writing letters and cards to other members. People that replace gathering with Christian’s and talking about God with watching videos and calling that good enough is wrong. Especially if there isn’t a genuine reason why you can’t go to church. Because just being like I don’t like being around a bunch of people so imma stay home, is kinda like saying God I love you, but I mean I don’t like being around all my siblings, they’re not cool, it bothers me to be around them, and I really don’t care for them either. Yes, they did, but the Jews met in the Synagogue, an organization early churches modeled themselves after once they were no longer legally restricted. House churches were not used because they were THE model to use but because that’s all they had. Having a large church reflects the size of the population (the old synagogues were supposed to fit a good chunk of if not the entire town) helps organize and coordinate efforts among believers.
You’re also forgetting that most people don’t bother to meet up with others if they don’t go to the main church building. None of the fellowship you’re referring to is actually happening in these cases.

Don’t you agree that it is just such a mistery though that different “groups” within Biblical Christian faith, draw to drastically different conclusions of how to do so? I have been guilty of painting with a broad brush before and trust the Lord to help me not generalize, but still address concerns in a loving, but Biblical way.
There are definitely those as you describe, but gratefully many Calvinists I know believe that God knowing the end from the beginning does not mean we don’t have a choice whether to respond to him or not, to put it simply. I have personally experienced this as I see in these brothers and sisters a great need to evangelise and plead with those who do not know the Lord to turn to Him.
One thing that is hard to deny though is that the Bible, in clear language, discusses a concept using words like predestined, the elect, God foreknowing and chose before the foundations of the world…
I totally understand if someone says to me, no, their interpretation of those texts are wrong, but then provide alternative explanations for those texts. But we can’t just skip over those texts, even if it’s honestly sometimes a bit uncomfortable to think about.
Or maybe we all should strive to be content with what we do understand clearly and not try to fill in the blanks on doctrines that maybe are in the Word but higher than our ways and understanding, which would be applicable to all groups that are tempted to make more or less of a given topic. A tough one.

For example, there are two verses in the NT where God is said to have a physical form. One of those verses is spoken by Jesus. Yet, there is a newer translation that completely removes that information. For a second example, there is a verse in Hebrews that in older translations state that the earth was made of that which is unseen while a new translation states that what was created was created out of nothing. The older translations are truer to the original definitions used by the original authors. For a third example, there is written historical evidence that Jerome in the 1100s-ish, literally changed the meaning of the Greek word that is correctly translated as “unique remaining” into the phrase “only begotten.” So, though the KJV only argument tends to not be supported biblically by less educated individuals, there is still merit in the concept of sticking to the older translations. There is also biblical precedent set by Moses that actually commands believers to not nullify God’s words for the sake of our interpretations, beliefs, speculations, feelings, etc. etc. This precedent is further born out by Jesus, John the beloved, Peter and Paul’s writings. But, regardless of the above, the Bible is full of examples of what happens when people nullify God’s words for the sake of their own interpretations. There are so many examples in the Bible of this problem that we should be strongly warned to stop doing it. But do we learn…NOPE. Why? Because such behavior is the very definition of sin nature.

Amen & Amen! Sister! I'll Stick With The Holy Spirit & The KJV! Period! The Devil Has Infiltrated Christianity... They Never Mention Newer Versions Have "Copyrights"

    • @LadyPeter
      @LadyPeter หลายเดือนก่อน

@@BADDMIXX Older versions did not have copyrights because copyrights did not exist back then. So, all older text or manuscripts were grandfathered into open domain. Validity or the lack thereof does not come from the existence of a copyright which only grants the ownership of revenue entitlements. Wealth is not evil. It is the love of wealth that is a root of evil.
Furthermore, it is good that you listen to the HS while reading the KJV but bragging about it only puts you into the same category that this video influencer is attempting to put an end to. That category was defined by his use of the word “only.” Please get into the habit of searching all Bible texts so that you can discern truth for yourself and not have to lean upon your favorite human translators or your impressions of what you might think you are hearing from the HS. God’s HS does not use “impressions” that lead to potential confusion or error. The HS takes from what is Jesus’ and gives to us. There is a big difference.
Jesus is not divided and neither should we show preferences of any kind not even toward a favorite Bible translation. In other words and out of kind respect, hear the authors of every text but learn to test their spirits the same way the Bereans tested Paul’s spirit in Acts 15…or was it 17. For not even the KJV is 100% accurate and this I can prove with just Genesis 1:1 which should literally be translated as “Firstfruits, God/Praise cut lofty and firm.” Hiding this literal translation literally nullifies God’s words that explain WHY God accepted Abel’s sacrifice in GE 4 but not Cain’s.
Guard your heart, @baddmixx, in the same way that Jesus guarded His heart, or you will not stand when God shakes everything that can be shaken.

There’s this deceitful theory that we’ll all be “Raptured” before the bad stuff happens…it’s not true🥺
John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was an Anglo-Irish evangelist and theologian who played a significant role in developing and popularizing the pre-tribulation rapture theory. Although the concept of the rapture existed before Darby, his teachings and writings helped to systematize and spread this ideology.
      1. Dispensationalism: Darby developed the dispensationalist view, which divides human history into distinct periods (dispensations) governed by God's different relationships with humanity.
      2. Pre-tribulation rapture: Darby taught that believers would be suddenly and secretly taken up to heaven (raptured) before the Tribulation, a seven-year period of God's judgment on earth.
      3. Separation of Israel and the Church: Darby emphasized the distinction between Israel and the Church, believing that God has separate plans for each.
Darby's teachings influenced many prominent evangelists and theologians,
      1. Cyrus Scofield (editor of the Scofield Reference Bible)
      2. D.L. Moody (evangelist)
      3. Charles Spurgeon (preacher and writer)
      4. A.C. Gaebelein (Bible teacher and writer)
The pre-tribulation rapture theory gained widespread acceptance in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly through the Scofield Reference Bible and the teachings of evangelists like Billy Graham.
John Nelson Darby has been linked to the Rockefeller family through his connections with the Plymouth Brethren movement and the evangelistic efforts of Anthony Norris Groves, a fellow Brethren member.
In the mid-19th century, Darby and Groves received financial support from wealthy patrons, including the Rockefeller family, to advance their evangelistic endeavors. This funding enabled them to spread their teachings and establish missions globally.
researchers have suggested that Darby's connections to the Rockefellers and other influential families may have influenced his teachings, regarding dispensationalism and the pre-tribulation rapture theory.
The Rockefeller family and other wealthy patrons provided financial support to Darby and other evangelists, which helped to promote and popularize the pre-tribulation rapture theory.
critics argue that the promotion of the pre-tribulation rapture theory was tied to the political and social interests of the wealthy elite, rather than solely being a religious or biblical conviction. This has led some to question the theory's validity and motivations.
If you truly want to know when the “Rapture” will happen…which might I add is a word you won’t even find in the Bible…ANYWHERE…the closest you’ll find is the word “translated” 🤷‍♂️…anyways, look no farther than Matthew 24 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
      Matthew 24 (KJV):
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
      1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (KJV)
51 "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
So as you can see, Jesus is coming back with great power and great glory, with thunder and lighting from the east…with the sound of the Final trumpet, and at that moment EVERY EYE WILL SEE HIM and he shall send his angels to gather his people from one end of the heavens to the other starting with the de*d. There will be no “secret rapture” where we are all quietly taken away one day…that’s the lie started by John Darby to deceive people into a false sense of security so when the mark of the beast does make itself known, the Christians alive at that time, would think nothing of it…because they were told their whole lives that they would be gone before all the bad stuff happens…and that’s just not true. That’s why Jesus said he who endures until the end shall be saved.

[26]And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
[27]They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
      [28]Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
[29]But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
[30]Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

I “visit” churches and while doing so, give of my time, talent and treasure, however, have found since the closing of many churches during 2020; they have shown that God is not big enough or sufficient in handling crisis; which ofc is not true. Many churches, and I’ve visited a fair number and stayed for a while, (as in years), seem to want to be surface and sadly, don’t preach the FULL Gospel- that Jesus is returning… Even more sadly, I have found that churches no longer call out sin and so don’t preach Heaven because they won’t talk about hell! Preaching has become “settle here in Babylon and make the best of it!” Where is the Hope of Glory?
While I do follow two preachers online since 2020, (one a KJV preacher - I do prefer my KJV 😊), I still do attend church as I said earlier, (Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday if I weren’t in Father’s House)… It’s important to note that churches have changed for the worse… and so are deterrents.
I will continue to be the regular visitor at the back of the church, participating as a visitor, giving, helping attending those church luncheons… but until Father calls me HOME… I’ll be on that island…

The King James Bible does have a very interesting feature of having that letter given as a preface which is clearly written by a genuine believer. It's on the face of it a letter addressed to King James but it's actually an invitation to every true believer to pick up the Scriptures. The way it's written has echoes of passages of scripture which seem to address the reader as well as the original recipient.
If you're fluent in very formal English the King James version does preserve a lot more of the original content without needing to immediately go into word studies or pull up the Greek and Hebrew, though of course if you don't already know that form of English then it's not going to have that effect.

#4 The conditional confession part got me. You have no idea how much bondage I struggled with as a Pentecostal and Charismatic worried the rapture would happen or I would die before I confessed the last sin! I was so afraid of dying in case I missed out on a sin to confess! My life was always filled with the dread of "dying in my sins". Praise God I got saved and I learnt and believed that what Jesus did was enough. Thank you for calling it blasphemous! Exposing that idea of combining what Jesus did on the cross with my confessing and keeping "up to date" is so liberating! Even after all these years, hearing this gives me so much liberty as I often find myself concerned that I haven't evangelised enough and met a quota. Praise the Lord, hallelujah!! Jesus was perfect and the highest and greatest offering for my sins and whom I did not deserve! I am praising God!

Several years ago when I lived in the apartment complex, apartment up for Bible study group. The pastor of the church that I was attending told me to tell the people who attended to not let this unformal Bible group take the place of regular Church attendance. And for a long time I would say that.
It wasn't too long until the Lord spoke to my heart and told me to stop saying that. He reminded me that this Bible group was the only fellowship that some people were able to attend.
The pastor and the rest of the church never knew that I stopped saying that.
Alan was right on target about all 5 topics.
I will say this though, when you commit a sin you do need to ask Jesus to forgive you right then and there. Sometimes we may not always remember to do this. That is why I always ask God to forgive all my sins before I go to sleep at night.

I agree but the Holy Spirit is not the only thing we need. The Holy Spirit is with us and he dwells in all who have confessed Jesus as Savior and Lord. The main issue, I believe is that many Christians, and studies back it up, don’t read the Bible let alone study it. Many studies show that anywhere from 57%-75% of Christians in North America read the Bible once a week and that is when they go to church. Then we wonder why even in the body of Christ we are split on social issues like abortion, homosexuality, etc. If we study the Word of God and understand it to be 100% inspired by God, then we wouldn’t have so many falling away to false teachings.

This same preacher, Kevin, also liked to have the members who studied the Bible with someone, and if that "new" person was then baptized, we were to look at those "older" members with admiration and strive to become like them. No where was Jesus mentioned. You know, the Gospel, the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Hardly ever mentioned that detail.

The ESV and NASB translations are also some of the most accurate translations not only because they used older documents for them, but also because their translation teams made it their purpose to translate the texts as accurately as possible into modern 20th/21st century English. If you’re looking for a modern accurate word for word translation, not all translations are created equal. Some, like the Message, or NLT, are translated with more generalized translations and may reflect certain interpretation biases rather than a literal translation.

    • @cryptojihadi265

EXACTLY. I've been reading the NASB for 40 years. I never knew, until recently, that on the scale of most literal to most figurative, that the NASB was near the most literal end of the spectrum. On the Christian to Secular scale, it's on the most Christian side of it. So for how I would want the translators to approach converting the original test to English, I find the NASB meets my criteria to a T. The KJV is not only REALLY difficult to read, but it's neither the most literal nor most Christianized.
So for the KJV or bust cult, I have to laugh at their assertion that it's the ONLY Godly or accurate translation. Irony, truly owns them.

Concerning "The Message." Never trust a "translation" written by one man. He ends up "translating" what he thinks it means. With the other versions, they are translated by a committee of Bible scholars. The committee has to agree on the correct interpretation. As the above, a translation done by one man will be biased in that HE wants it to say.

I disagree with the last one. Church, as a building or congregation, is a Middle Age institution. Before there were church buildings, there were house churches, where Christians gathered together as a Christian community. The Internet, and the pandemic in its own special way, made us all realize we can find Christian communities to become a part of over the Internet. There also seems to be a growing trend towards rejecting institutional church, and gathering together amongst like minded friends at someone’s house, just like the very very early church years before they became institutionalized like we have now.

The only other acceptable reading is the NKJV. Sure one can get the overall message from all of them ALMOST! Just about every modern Bible has taken so much out and/or changed, it does actually take away from the ENTIRE message. Hi Allen.. I agree with your post accept about online church. I worship every Sunday through zoom with a very sound doctrine church. Not only do they celebrate the Holy Communion sacrament every Sunday ..we online still partake of that even though we are home. We worship and commune with this church because many of us have found we simply don’t have any biblically sound teaching churches in our area even after looking for one . We are from different parts of the world and find ways to connect often. I also participate in women’s Bible study every Saturday taught by the pastor himself and after our lesson I fellowship with the women for about
hour . We praise God, encourage one another, and talk about theScriptures. We have Sunday school bible study right after church, I participate in the weekly adult bible study where my pastor is there teaching it. They also set up yearly opportunities for those of us who can’t worship in person and wish to come visit the church and fellowship in person during church events. So it’s not like I’m talking to a computer screen and imaging people are there. I’m talking and fellowshipping with live people. I can see their faces ….I can see and ask my pastor questions at any time during our studies. I feel blessed to be a part of this community and I don’t believe this is displeasing to God.

@Michelle-no6um hi Michelle… I’m not sure if you are replying to me but I apologize if you aren’t. However my post isn’t about my personal feelings or experiences or even legalism. It is the gospel that saves (Romans 1:16); as long as the true gospel is preached, the fact that it’s online doesn’t matter. If you are being legalistic about gathering together with fellow believers then why aren’t you having church services in peoples home like the early church did because of persecution. Online services are more prevalent because of Covid. Then continued because it met a need for those who have an illness or some other reason they can’t get to a live church. Idolatry is sitting up in a church that is not feeding you nor the congregation and the pastor is not equipped or qualified to rightly exegete the Word of God. I’m not going to sit under unsound doctrine simply to say I’m in a church building fellowshipping…When I go to church online it’s not a streamed service it’s live through zoom and the we aren’t passing around emojis and comments. We are talking to each other face to face on the camera. Now not everyone online church operates like the one I go to which is why I will say again I’m blessed to be a part of this congregation and by no way am I forsaking the assembly of the saints. There is nothing wrong with “doing church” this way. a church service online does not invalidate our worship, lessen the impact of God’s Word, or hinder our prayers. Especially if we continue the fellowship outside of worship by keeping in contact with others. I’m not saying I won’t ever fellowship in a church building if there becomes available a sound doctrine teaching church that doesn’t compromise the Scriptures, sure I will join and attend Lord willing but for now I have prayed on the church where I am , I’m hearing and living out the Gospel. This is the problem facing the church today no one knows their Bible and are sitting under false Shepards sadly, they are too ignorant to realize it.

Great points. Very valid. I only SLIGHTLY disagree with the last point about church online however i agree with some of those points too. Fellowship can, has and does work via church activity online. Is it great to have a church home (building that one physically goes too)... yes indeed however 2024 is not 1200a.d. online fellowship is very much alive and well and works in the same way. U may not attend a physical church but u can commune with ppl online much like working from home and receive as well as give as much of the same benefits. "A" church isn't necessarily always the same as THE church. One could join a church and the church be just a building and the bible could be taught all wrong or be led by an "apostle" whereas an online Church could be more credible in this example. Ppl can fellowship via zoom, agree to take offering for a fellow believer in need by way of cashapp or other online banking and cash giving solutions, etc. I don't believe that the last point qualifies as a "false teaching" per say unless there is a theology that suggests church is going in general is unnecessary in totality. I will concede that it is unorthodox means to get and share the word and fellowship, which to me isn't necessarily and ultimately a bad thing. I'd say attending church online only AND or paired with not finding a way to pour into the body of Christ in other ways does make the point more valid. Get and share Jesus in whichever ways u can. IF u can find a church HOME, let the Holy spirit lead u to it... not guilt. Not saying that the last point is meant to guilt anyone to join or physically attend a church, just saying don't let that be the reason u decide to go to one if u currently don't. Peace and blessings to everyone. Brother Allen ANOTHER great and insightful video.
