As a "light sprayer" I've always felt a little on the periphery of a fragrance community that seems to value BEASTMODE above all else haha. I rarely ever go more than three sprays because I never want my scent to be the first thing people notice about me. I wear what I like, don't concern myself with compliments, and anyone that appreciates me for my other qualities will naturally gravitate closer - and THEN find out I smell amazing too xD Great video as always!

Pour un Homme de Caron is a great one for me. People say it’s dated but whatever. I am 65 years and live in a college town. I go to a coffee shop everyday and I was standing in line and sensed someone close. I turned and a young woman pulled back and sheepishly said, “I’m sorry but I was smelling your scent.” She said she wanted to get some for her boyfriend and I said it sounds like her boyfriend is a classy guy!😂😂 I told her what it was and where she could get it. Guerlain Heritage lasts forever on me and always seems to get comments, as does Knize Ten. Eau Savauge Parfum is also a killer. I get good mileage out of Mont Blanc Individuel and Givenchy Gentleman, also. The quality and performance are important to me, compliments are good but not necessary.

I wish I had grabbed a bottle of Pour Homme de Caron before they discontinued it. I loved the idea of such an old fragrance still being sold. Now it's over $100 on eBay.

Best fragrance philosophy channel on TH-cam. You are the only person I know who hits the point about fragrance and feels. And why shouldn’t it be that way? People dress up to suit a mood or choose colours that uplift them, why shouldn’t fragrances work with feelings and moods?

This guy deserves more attention. When you watch the video, it feels like he put hours and hours into making it. And what i really like about this one particularly Is the rating system. Sometimes when you watch top 10 lists or multiple fraggrances in a video, you can't really say which fragrance do a reviewer like more, thats where ratings come helpful. In this video you got both parameters, ratings and his personal feeling when he's wearing it. Big 👍 like always Justin. You are a real niche quality in this comunity. Much ❤

A reference level video that needs to be saved in your lists, friends. Also, awesome honesty regarding complements. When they didn't happen, as we all know is the case with many brilliant frags (unless you are around an aesthetically mature nose), Justin doesn't say he got them. Honesty: 10/10.

But I have also taken the approach to have a “night scent” which I will put on at the end of the day and it’s just for me and my wife. The premise of your videos are a breath of fresh air 🫡 I remember wearing fragrance all the way back to middle school. At the time Bod sprays were affordable and approachable for me as a young teen. After watching your video it made me realize, I always wore them because I thought they smelled good…not because I thought middle school girls would like them. Now years later, with a humble collection, I’ve realized the same exact thing. I wear fragrances because I like them. If someone thinks I smell nice that’s just a bonus. I think that goes for anything in life, buying a car, hanging a painting, buying a house, etc. If you like it, that’s the most important thing, anything that comes afterwards is icing on the cake. Thanks for a great video, more individuals need to realize that purchasing fragrances is a gift to one’s self, not to the world. So put yourself first!

Justin! Today I got to test Narcisco Rodriguez blue de noir Edp on a fresh nose and on my skin. I compared it on my skin to Dylan Blue and my favorite dark spicy scent Issey Miyake Nuit Edt and yes i finally get why you like this Narcisco fragrance. It made Dylan Blue smell like cheap bodywash. It was very different from Nuit obviously. I'm glad I gave it another try. It develops like Issey Miyake and as you would say, it keeps me interested. It isn't linear and the amber in it seems to smolder just enough in the background. Very nice. My favorite blue was YSL Y edp but Narcisco might just edge it out. It has a subtlety to it that is just so intriguing to smell. Y can be a bit too strong. It made Dylan Blue smell cheap and until today DB was one of my fave blues. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm still going to buy my signature scent that is the OG Issey Miyake but it's going to be hard to choose between Issey Nuit and and Narcisco for my date night fragrance. This time around the suede note over powered the tonka bean on nuit for me but I blame it on the weather and time of day. I also have to throw Givenchy Pi into the mix so I'm in a conundrum 😂 thank you for your content. I love your channel. You're genuine and easy to relate to. Much love from Cambodia.

Love this video concept! Home to see more of these. Makes me want to do these rankings with some of my favorites.
Honestly, i've never bought fragrances just for the hope of getting compliments. Yeah I love and appreciate when I do get them but truth be told, I don't get a ton of them on the daily. I work from home as opposed to an office setting so that might play a part too (lol) but even in my regular travels it's not a regular occurrence. I just wear what I love and there's some that I love that have beast mode performance and i'm glad but that's not a requirement for me to love a fragrance. My all time favorite fragrance is the OG 90s Polo Sport and it's not a monster performer but I love the scent and have personal fond memories attached to it.

Mancera Cedrat Boise is my next purchase. My personal favorite is Amouage Fate Man . I blind bought it because i found the notes interesting, especially the cumin note. When I received it and applied it, I immediately thought that I wouldn’t like it. My wife seemed to have the same reaction as I did. About a half hour later when it dried down I was hooked on the smell. I find myself removing the cap and smelling the bottle. To me it’s intoxicating and my wife likes after the dry down. It’s extremely long lasting! It doesn’t get any love from the fragrance community, but absolutely love it

... mostly agree, I like compliments and I fully embrace my vanity. But my vanity should never come at the expense of who I am or be insulting to other people. Half jest, half serious. Cologne is a final flourish, an aesthetic expression, a conversation ice-breaker, or something intriguing that differentiates you from the crowd. I own the fact that I love and want positive attention but I have to like what I'm wearing first.
I'm glad I came across your channel early in my collecting. It stopped me from accumulating a stock of mediocre fragrances or scents I'm not interested in wearing or smelling. Love your advice on 'practicing a fragrance.' I found my beloved Xeryus Rouge that way.

Justin, I love the part where you mentioned the fragrance I wear should accentuate my personality.
I find Amouage Bracken Man to be doing that. It opens with a strong herbal quality like a man who look stern and uncompromising to strangers, then; the middle notes reveal the cleanliness and freshness which express the easygoing personality of such man when being with close friends.
The fragrance ends with woody note and a little touch of sweetness that symbolize the romantic and caring side but protective when being with his loved one.
Bracken man does not accentuates who I am but rather who I am aspired to be.

I wear what I feel like that day. Depending on mood or desired mood, the weather and some respect to my surroundings (no overly animalic scents in the office). Ofcourse I prefer it to last but I'm fine with me getting a whiff from the shirt now and again. Really enjoyed the video! I always wonder about my collection. I have a lot of fragrances that I appreciate as scents. Meaning I like to smell them but do not want to smell of them. After realizing that I stopped blind and impulse buying. Still only about 25% of my collection get regular wear and only about 15% will ever be finished I guess.
Therefore I really think it is important to ask yourself "Why do I like this particular fragrance?" and not just "Does it tick boxes?" Thank you for another great video!

I agree with you on if you wear fragrances to try to get people to like you more isn't a good thing but since I am one of the few people who wear fragrances to work. When I get a new one I wear it confidently for me first and I have also garnered the interest of a few coworkers not only to the fragrance hobby but also to the channels of reviewers like you,Ross, Neeb,Randy and others who have great content and the different opinions for which make this hobby more interesting and most of all fun and sometimes I wear a new one that I'm told smells great but is too strong for work and I know that but when I get asked if I received anything new I just have to let them check it out and Tazmeen from Rasasi really surprised me with the positive attention for having the note of Cumin which took me a while to get over the b.o. stigma btw 2nd Soul is well liked by the girls at work but that along with the other 2 are for after work and days off

So true, all of it. See, I wear Layton Exclusif when I want a boost in confidence, it makes me feel like I can take on the world. It radiates a certain darkness but also respect. Boundless on the other hand, comforts me and make me feel warm and cozy. And well, I would never wear Brut 33 but I have a bottle here to sniff when I feel nostalgic and it still gets to me because it reminds me of my dad. If I just wanted compliments, I'd wear the classic blues and if I wanted longevity, I'd just wear my Interlude Black Iris all year long (joke, I'd never do that in the summer, lol).

I agree with you. One of my first few fragrances was Invictus Intense and I got compliments on it all the time while I wasn't a big fan of it. Same goes with Dior Sauvage edt. I ended up giving them away and wearing frags I like. TF Tobacco Vanille, Roja Scandal, and Kilian Black Phantom for example. I found I may not get direct responses to the fragrances but my overall interaction with people is different. I get complimented on myself in general versus the fragrance and that actually feels better. My fragrances elevate who I am and not me wearing them to bring in attention.

I have a smallish collection compared to a lot of people, I want it that way. I only keep a frangrance around (especially full bottle) if I absolutely find it beautiful and special not just (good smelling) it has to speak to my soul, spark life into me weather that be a bursting flame or a simmering heat. They have to match me perfectly. Some have sentimental value like most, but unless my heart soars in some way while smelling it I don't want it haha. Scent is a language and I want mine to speak a part of my souls truth no matter how small that part is.

How it smells on my skin is number one. If I don't really love the scent, doesn't matter what they rest of the criteria is cause I won't be wearing it. How well it works in the season I wear it is number two. Versatility is number three. Longevity is a distant four, cause there are some fragrances I wear specifically for an evening out. Those really only need to last six plus hours. Fragrances like The One EDP and La Nuit de L'homme are perfect for nights like that.

Dior Sauvage Elixir: Crazy longevity. It's sweet but also fresh and fourgere, nothing else smells like it. Compliments are unlimited, versatility is slim. BVLGARI Man in Black: A complex mix of medicinal leather which evolves into a sweet boozy fruity scent, not linear at all, and interesting for a designer. 1 Million Prive: Very linear but just fresh and likeable, you can't not enjoy this scent. Stronger With You Intensely: SWY just has a perfect sweet DNA, and this one has chestnut. Dior Homme 2020: A great fragrance if you want to smell nice but not overpower the room. Everyday dumb reach.

Totally agree. Why would I want people to like me for my fragrance? I’d much rather they like me for my money but I don’t have any so I guess I’m SOL either way.

BUT WHICH ONES GRIP GROINS AND DRENCH LOINS?!?
Seriously, though, in case anyone cares, here are my top 3 reasons to purchase a particular fragrance:
    1. For me, it's just an extension of my outfit, so it must add to the way I want to present myself. Typically this is "cozy and likeable,a bit bold, and certainly not generic", which fits my personality.
    2. I like to be a good steward of the things with which I've been entrusted, so it needs to be a good value. This means that compared to other fragrances, it must be in a decent price per wear range.
    4. I have to enjoy smelling it, and so should those around me (implied with reason #1, I suppose). I'm around open-minded people most often, so there's room for an elevation of palate, so to speak, within this requirement.
Thus, I've settled on these for now:
    Cool weather:
Tobacco Vanille (work and normal occasions - yes, you can wear it to work, my boss, a lady, loves it)
Royal tobacco (special occasions, formal events, etc. This is very bold, but incredible when worn well)
    Transitional weather:
fragrance one unisex (trash me all you want, but it has a bit of depth / classiness in with the sweet apple and clean woods - it also
has incredible performance, and the sweetness is mitigated somewhat on my skin......discount only, of course)
Eros Flame (casual occasions, and really year-round)
    Hot weather:
I have yet to find a good staple. Suggestions welcome. Bleu De Chanel and the ADG range are no-gos as I don't care much for either. Torino21 is ok. I really like ADP Intenso, but it lasts all of 20 minutes, so doesn't fit requirement #2.
I'm currently on vacation and bought a little 1million elixir as it smells like tropical fruits and caramel / vanilla. Not a freshie, but surprisingly good in warm weather.
I'll stop rambling now. You should get a prize of some sort if you've read to the end of this ridiculous post.

Ok why is every fragrance bottle seem to be moving around/ Did you tie the table to Penny's back? They are floating! I am getting serious motion sickness looking at the rating as the bottles float gently nearby. Great Video! Penny write us if you need to be rescued from Justin's videos.

I will find new a fragrance that I like and wear it and smile as I get the movement in the air .. at nearly 50 I'm not interested in other people's opinions... I am me and I try and walk tall every day even when the world seems to want to be negative around me.

    2ndSoul is stupid
    Stupid= perfect
    Brass&Soul is SUPER stupid
I'm not trying to brown nose. I'm dead serious in love with them. BaS more so because it's the brightest (metallic). The only reason I don't like 2ndSoul more, is because it's relatively new 😊
You should know my opinion, because you deserve to know how you impacted a person's life. They are definitely YOU in a bottle. I appreciate TF outta them

Thanks for sending this message out. Too many reviewers rate fragrances almost soley on performance and many people walk around in socks and sandals smelling like whatever Chaos Fragrance is selling that week. The one time I smelled LNDL on someone else, it was just that, a man child wearing a graphic t, wreaking of BO, and maybe 20 sprays of my favorite perfume straight on his clothes. I get way more compliments on how I dress than I smell and honestly I wouldn't like alot of people smelling me. Fragrance is an accessory. It's not the suit with polished Oxfords. It's just an accessory that gives the impression that you not only dress well but you groom yourself correctly too. You did your designer video for ten days and each day that why by I couldn't help but notice that you just have a sense of fashion. That's what people will be attracted to and of course you need to smile. Curly Scents sprays LNDL 33 times and swears she gets compliments for it but I'm sorry to say that the people complimenting hr probably feel bad that she's trying so hard to be liked for her fragrance.

performance takes precedence in my collection. i love creed royal mayfair. its honestly my favorite scent profile but it doesnt last on my skin more than an hour or so. that sucks because 100 ml is so pricey. but i know that if it performed better, the nuance of that fragrance would be trashed so i get what your saying

    Totally agree.
First and foremost, I wear fragrance for myself. To feel confident and present myself better. Now that I've been in the fragrance space for over a year, I've started to spray heavier because I'm more confident in what I wear. However, I also recently heard from someone that she doesn't like fragrance at all, and was telling people that the proper way to apply fragrance is to spray into the air and walk into it. This reminded me that there are people out there who don't want to smell you immediately, and it's generally best to have a scent bubble rather than having it announce you when you walk into a room. I think I've heard that advice before from somewhere...

So my favorite frags, for me are not the room fillers or the people pleasers. They are not hype beasts. They are the ones I’m growing older with. They are mature and pretty much timeless. If they were screamers they would not be as classy. It would be the equivalent of wearing rhinestone studded jeans to a wedding. I’ve seen it done but I never want to be that guy. So despite the trends the sweet frags that the young ladies may like their boyfriend to wear, you have to look at your collection and figure out what’s going to the grave with me. For instance Cedrat Boise I love it it smells great but as I’m getting older will I want to be known or affiliated with that smell? No. So despite owning many frags such as the above mentioned I’ll be sticking more and more to Chanel sycamore and Chanel boy. Incident diplomatique Guerlain vetiver Prada lhomme invasion Barbare my reason is because I wear there particular frags for the most important events in my life. There are others but you get the point. And therefore the scents become part of your life your character and of your personal memories of the past. This is one of the reasons why even today so many woman will wear Chanel no 5 on their wedding day despite how retro it now smells. It has that timeless old world class that some vanilla bomb never will.
