One of your best topics, Justin: fragrances that change their scent profile as they dry down. I read quite a lot about this in Luca Turin’s Perfumes guides, and it is a masterful skill to compose such prized fragrances. Not only are the different rates of evaporation of the ingredients a factor, but also discovering how certain materials bind more tightly to olfactory receptors and mask our perceptions until they release their hold and we experience an evolution. Great descriptions! Of those you spoke of here, I haven’t had the patience to wait for Beau du Jour to transition and had assumed it was linear. Will have to give it another go. I also love Enclave-that amazing spearmint opening and beautiful transitions are a work of art.
I'll be lying if I said that compliments don't factor in my decision-making when buying a fragrance. I feel like when someone says I smell good, it affirms my taste in that fragrance

Sartorial is an amazing take on a modern fougere, really unique classy stuff. Definitely under-rated. I envy Guys who own anything that they wear unapologetically, wether it be florals or animalic ouds. Dudes are champions.
The key is to start with less sprays, maybe 2 max to see how it does. You might be surprised how nice even a "challenging" scent can be when it's not 100% detectable. People around you will only detect parts of the scent when they pass or come near. From there you can ramp it up if needed.
I've sampled a few expensive fragrances (which are generally well regarded in the community) which despite an interesting opening just feel like one annoying strong note after ~30 minutes. Some don't even take that long. Skin messes with naturals. I'd rather have something a bit more balanced and stable.
Beau de Jour is my favourite perfume at the moment. What I find interesting is that the dry down, at the very end, smells very familiar yet different. I don't know really what that is but it invokes some faint memories.
This was great, Justin. For me, some of my favorite transitions come from PDM Carlisle, Arabian Oud Amiri, Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint, and Givenchy Gentleman Boisee.

Hey Justin, I recently acquired Enclave by Amouage and I am loving it! I was intrigued by the note breakdown and the way you had perceived this beautiful scent. I love the duality between the fresh blast of spearmint at the top acting as almost a cooling factor and as it dries down you get this lovely warm feeling to it. While the spearmint to me remains prominent, it is much more tame compared to the start. While it doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves, I believe that’s the beauty of these evolving scents. They take you on a bit of a journey. Keep up the amazing content! I’m here for it as always

I have it and like it but I don't get any of that opening freshness, it's a fairly linear incense scent for me. But that's the issue with there being lots of naturals in the formulation, fragrances like this can be completely different on different people's skin.
@@stayfreshproductions Yes, naturally you would if you spray too much. If you are conscious of the smell then you have went a overboard. People can smell your cologne if you spray once. The smell is normally geared towards other people. The expense of the cologne determine the amount of usage.
@@stayfreshproductions If the perfume or cologne says toilette then it contains a lower percentage of fragrant oils. These you may have to spray at least three times to sustain the fragrant throughout the day. These normally cost way less and are relatively light. The more expensive brands has more oils and are more concentrated with fragrance therefore you spray less maybe once or twice. The scent also last longer. I just have a bad habit of spraying myself numerous times regardless of a cheap or expensive cologne. 😂. I get complements so that's a good thing

I have it and like it but I don't get any of that opening freshness, it's a fairly linear incense scent for me. But that's the issue with there being lots of naturals in the formulation, fragrances like this can be completely different on different people's skin.
@@shpalman7 Dang, I get a juicy freshness for sure
Great vid 👍
Thanks

Haha you’re right about Dior Homme…they’re wrong 😂
😆
Agreed
You do wear fragrance for others. You do not smell the fragrance while wearing it. If you do then you have on way too much.
I spray most fragrances about 5 times (standard), and I usually smell myself.
@@stayfreshproductions Yes, naturally you would if you spray too much. If you are conscious of the smell then you have went a overboard. People can smell your cologne if you spray once. The smell is normally geared towards other people. The expense of the cologne determine the amount of usage.
@@flexx7611 how much do you typically spray?
@@stayfreshproductions If the perfume or cologne says toilette then it contains a lower percentage of fragrant oils. These you may have to spray at least three times to sustain the fragrant throughout the day. These normally cost way less and are relatively light. The more expensive brands has more oils and are more concentrated with fragrance therefore you spray less maybe once or twice. The scent also last longer. I just have a bad habit of spraying myself numerous times regardless of a cheap or expensive cologne. 😂. I get complements so that's a good thing
Bro keep doing it. Others are busy mass appealing. I'm down for the unique.
It is boring bcoz not mind blowing 😆
You like to hunt for compliments like a neglected woman- go ahead, what ever pleases you!
