Then switch off the ignition and wait and let the oil sink for a few minutes. Check level again. On it's cererstand and DO NOT TIGHTEN THE OIL STICK! - JUST DIP IT AND THEN MAKE A READING OF THE OIL LEVEL.
In Arizona this time of the year we are 105 to 110 degrees, and you don't feel any extra heat at your legs. In the winter I sometimes wish I felt some heat, but I think the fearing is so much bigger around the engine on 750, its a lot less than the 1300. I get mid range tires, I don't drive a car, all I ride is this bike and I get a good year out of the tires. I put about 4000 miles a year on the bike.
Just a couple things really when messing around with oil, you should wear disposable rubber gloves to protect your hands which protects not only yourself but others you may touch, the other thing is for this bike it is recommended to use semi synthetic oil, why? I don't know but it is in the Honda service manual. A little dab of oil on the rubber o ring for the filter and hand tight the oil filter to prevent damage to it or torque it down to 26 N.M (2.7kgf.m, 22lbf.ft) The oil drain plug should be torqued down to 30 N.M (3.1kgf.m, 20lbf.ft)
Right, the "oil drain plug should be torqued down [..]", however, the oil filter and the top plug (ofc.) can -simply- be hand tightened; just to confirm this. :)
thats good to know. Im one of very few in the states with one of these. Theres this thing where it cool to have really big engines, over 1300cc's... but with Gas prices, I think you call it petro in AU, I'll stick with the smaller engine. 700cc is just fine
Automotive oil can not be used in motorcycles because it contains additives that make it slippery. A motorcycle has its clutch plates running in oil. The slippery additive would cause the fiber clutch plates to slip on each other resulting in burned out clutch plates. For this reason you must use an oil that is designed for motorcycles (no slippery additives). Synthetic oil is superior. If you agree that it is stupid for people to fill half their tank with regular octane gas and half with high octane gas, to save money, they you'd agree that semi synthetic is also stupid. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic that is specifically designed for 4 stroke motorcycle engines. Good basic oil change video. My only recommendations are: put a film of oil on the oil filter's o-ring before installing; only hand tight oil filter; replace the oil drain plug crush washer; check the oil level again after running the engine for a couple of minutes; read the Owner's Manual for the amount of oil required.
good instructional video except next time put a lil dab of oil all the way around on the rubber gasket thats on the oil filter. also maybe work on your editing skills but over all this was a great video
The tires, factory specified models.... Will last a (long) while, as they're specifically designed for long hauls. The bike's a Touring type, not sure whether it would classify as "Sport Touring". EDIT: Mine are dying of old-age, rather than being worn out; on a little bit less powerful NTV 650 Deauville, though.
The Honda NTV650 manual says 8k miles, which is (around!) 12.000 km (this is for the older model, the one preceding this); most people agree how this would be too much and the oil and filter can be changed more often... If that helps. :)

It's not a huge deal, the 10W/40 4 stroke part synthetic engine oil will simply also say: "MOTORCYCLE" and you're good to go!
