Yes Aqua really has a high bad luck that is higher than Kazuma good luck, it really covers up all the high good luck that Kazuma should have and instead they all got bad luck. And this is what happens when he teams up with someone who has high good luck stats (spoiler alert: the goddess of luck herself Eris aka Chris)

To be honest, Kazuma used the basic spells of every elements with practical way and rarely lethal if he's in a pinch. He literally humiliates the narcissistic simpleton with weak spells which means the simp hero is pathetic without his sword.
Funny enough, Kazuma was more of a menace in the manga and light novel during this raid. The guy was pocket sanding while also dodging and draining soldiers, he used freeze shortly after water boarding Mitsurugi, and he also used snipe on Rain's bow to prevent her from casting spells.
That's not even his highest level of tweaking. Keep that in mind. Edit: WAIT I NOTICED HE TASTED THE NEGATIVE EMOTIONS He REALLY became Vanir for a moment even got the same food source
The fight against the Deamon King is even better, not to mention Casino arc, or defeating a monster specifically designed to kill overpowered isekaied Japanese neets.

So yeah, the anime cut a lot of scenes.

Kazuma seems to have all the skills that make him a perfect rogue.. Lurk, steal, drain touch, snipe, bind and some basic elemental spells. Put them together and he's a master of espionage and assassination..
in the LN, he waterboarded him then froze the water in his throat which was practically a lethal combo that would kill just about anyone if they didn't get help. Kazuma has really practical usage of his spells and here he's just a lvl 19 facing lvl 30 and above enemies. Imagine if kazuma got the xp that megumin and aqua were leaching off of him, imagine how formidable he'd be if he had a wider arsenal of spells to work with.
It's more like he realized he can do anything he wants without consequence since no one will know it was him plus all that pent up stress and anger gave him a lot of motivation
Well, Mitsurugi can take down a giant dragon that even the entire Adventurer's Guild together would struggle with with a single attack so long as he has his sword. But all of his ability is dependent on his sword and thus he has never bothered to learn to adapt to situations. But it feels too early for Kazuma to take down Claire and Rain without a properly prepared plan. After all-- the appeal is meant to be that he is the underdog and managed to come up with a clever way to get through the situation with limited abilities.
As someone who read this scene in the LN, I agree this is one of the best moments of the entire series. It felt like Kazuma's whole tolerance from the beginning of the series has finally been paid off in a shining moment (albeit under a mask disguise), and seeing that really hyped me up. Also, his act in the next volume (Volume 7) is also quite exciting and impressive too. Not sure whether the volume has been animated yet (I haven't checked out the latest anime season yet)
oh nice! me too! i just started watching anime again after a long break and i missed it so much! i decided to watch some comedy anime to start off with bc i missed a lot of good shows for this year, and didn't know where to start, so i started to watch all of Konosuba, all 3 seasons including the ovas, plus the movie im all caught up now and it was great xD 10/10, my fav character is Aqua xD, i also went ahead and watched my deer friend nokotan, and alya sometimes hides her feelings in russian :D man its great to be back watching anime again xD

Kazuma eliminates Katsuragi thinking it will let the soldiers moral down if he finish him 1st so Kazuma used combo spell Create Water + Freeze in Katsuragi Face and saying he will not get killed. . . Maybe if they help him. Immediately 2. There's no mages here it's just rain In LN there's equal of mages and soldiers and Chris is the one who handles mages and while kazuma handles close quarters combat 3. While fleeing to Iris location Claire said to rain to kill all of the enemy in the way using aoe magic including ally soldiers whos in the way saying aqua can just revive them then rain starts to chant the magic and before she finishes it Kazuma used snipe while jumping 360 in the air to destroy the orb in the wand of rain, after seeing that claire and rain amazed by it but after seeing her destroyed wand causing rain to cry a lot lmao (I love this scene) And last 3. Kazuma used combo spell Create Earth + Wind Breath to blind all the soldiers to get where iris location is And here's bonus Before the Castle Raid that fkn btch Claire said to Kazuma that he's so incompetent so she will try to recruit Kazuma party to join katsuragi That's one of the reasons why he accepts Chris invitation to infiltrate the castle
There is a chapter in the second light novel where Kazuma and Dust trade parties for one day. Dust assumes that being in a party with an archpriestess, an archwizard, and a crusader life would be a breeze, while Kazuma wants him to feel his pain. Dust's teammates are actually amazed by how clever Kazuma is and just how well he uses his abilities. It really shows that if Kazuma were in a competent party he'd be a terrific adventurer. Meanwhile Dust and co. fail spectacularly.

Damn looking at this again really shows the foreshadowing later on. I had forgotten about this scene and had to quickly question why kazuma had become that good at trolling an entire castle and everyone in it.
This show just keeps getting better. Just like Shadow, you'd think the settings and character's charm would wear out kinda quick but every season they do something totally unexpected yet still in character.

What wasn't shown here aside from the throat freeze plus Snipe to cancel Rain spell was that Kazuma navigating through the castle perfectly setting bottleneck traps for the chasers on the way to Iris.
The anime really did everyone a disservice by cutting out the team swap with Dust's party, that episode would have been way better than the damn succubus bar episode. Wouldn't be such a surprise to see that Kazuma is actually very capable when Aqua's 0 luck stat isn't screwing him over. But hey it's nice to finally see Kazuma win for a change.

You know “create water” and “freeze” are supposed to be the most basic magic that’s harmless and no life-threatening, but Kazuma could use these two skills to defeat “sword master” one of the high-class jobs comparable to the arch priest or arch wizard, and he had the demonic sword Gram that could boost his status and enhance damage to the point that he could easily defeat the dragon.
I think i remember in the novel, he switch party with someone and turns out Kazuma is a good leader Its just that his party was so useless it make him look like useless leader lol

So far probably my favorite episode in Konosuba. I genuinely just want Kazuma be on top of his game after all the shit he's been through. His own party really nerfed him that hard when they fight together but if this is him on his own he can be a one-man army.
The mask doesn't have any effects on Kazuma according to the LN. But I can clearly see Vanir personality thorugh Kazuma's words and actions, meaning that Kazuma's true nature is a picaresque devil himself. Simply well played, this is one of my favorites scenes in the whole Konosuba's series: Kazuma unleashed.
This scene traumatized Claire, and once she figures out it was Kazuma she is actively scared of him and responds with overwhelming force of huge numbers of guards when she next needs to kick the problematic moocher out of the palace after he taught Iris some really weird slang. And even then they barely get him as she's the only one to really understand how dangerous he is.
He went easy on Mitsurigi in the anime. In the novel he puts his and on his mouth and use create water to fill his mouth and nose with water. The uses freeze to get all the water frozen inside him.

There is a chapter in the second light novel where Kazuma and Dust trade parties for one day. Dust assumes that being in a party with an archpriestess, an archwizard, and a crusader life would be a breeze, while Kazuma wants him to feel his pain. Dust's teammates are actually amazed by how clever Kazuma is and just how well he uses his abilities. It really shows that if Kazuma were in a competent party he'd be a terrific adventurer. Meanwhile Dust and co. fail spectacularly.

And this episode didn't adapted it well, there's so many things they excluded like
1. Kazuma eliminates Katsuragi thinking it will let the soldiers moral down if he finish him 1st so Kazuma used combo spell Create Water + Freeze in Katsuragi Face and saying he will not get killed. . . Maybe if they help him. Immediately
2. There's no mages here it's just rain
In LN there's equal of mages and soldiers and Chris is the one who handles mages and while kazuma handles close quarters combat
3. While fleeing to Iris location Claire said to rain to kill all of the enemy in the way using aoe magic including ally soldiers whos in the way saying aqua can just revive them then rain starts to chant the magic and before she finishes it Kazuma used snipe while jumping 360 in the air to destroy the orb in the wand of rain, after seeing that claire and rain amazed by it but after seeing her destroyed wand causing rain to cry a lot lmao (I love this scene)
And last
3. Kazuma used combo spell Create Earth + Wind Breath to blind all the soldiers to get where iris location is

Damn looking at this again really shows the foreshadowing later on. I had forgotten about this scene and had to quickly question why kazuma had become that good at trolling an entire castle and everyone in it.

This show just keeps getting better. Just like Shadow, you'd think the settings and character's charm would wear out kinda quick but every season they do something totally unexpected yet still in character.

The truth is, he has some extreme villain affinities. He went full Eminence in the darkness in this episode.
What wasn't shown here aside from the throat freeze plus Snipe to cancel Rain spell was that Kazuma navigating through the castle perfectly setting bottleneck traps for the chasers on the way to Iris.
I am more tempted to read the LN now. Since apparently there are huge differences and interesting parts being cut out.

The anime really did everyone a disservice by cutting out the team swap with Dust's party, that episode would have been way better than the damn succubus bar episode. Wouldn't be such a surprise to see that Kazuma is actually very capable when Aqua's 0 luck stat isn't screwing him over. But hey it's nice to finally see Kazuma win for a change.
The anime is centered towards comedy that's why we don't see Kazuma showing off his skills, but in the manga and LN you know he's pretty reliable.

You know “create water” and “freeze” are supposed to be the most basic magic that’s harmless and no life-threatening, but Kazuma could use these two skills to defeat “sword master” one of the high-class jobs comparable to the arch priest or arch wizard, and he had the demonic sword Gram that could boost his status and enhance damage to the point that he could easily defeat the dragon.
Imagine if this Kazuma met Shadow.

So far probably my favorite episode in Konosuba. I genuinely just want Kazuma be on top of his game after all the shit he's been through. His own party really nerfed him that hard when they fight together but if this is him on his own he can be a one-man army.

The mask doesn't have any effects on Kazuma according to the LN. But I can clearly see Vanir personality thorugh Kazuma's words and actions, meaning that Kazuma's true nature is a picaresque devil himself.

This scene traumatized Claire, and once she figures out it was Kazuma she is actively scared of him and responds with overwhelming force of huge numbers of guards when she next needs to kick the problematic moocher out of the palace after he taught Iris some really weird slang. And even then they barely get him as she's the only one to really understand how dangerous he is.

He went easy on Mitsurigi in the anime. In the novel he puts his and on his mouth and use create water to fill his mouth and nose with water. The uses freeze to get all the water frozen inside him.
