2:41 In the game literally the fight is offscreen and you dont even get to see the full fight whereas in the anime you do and Cell and Trunks literally discuss the weakness of the new form called "Super Saiyan Grade 3"(the one Trunks used)
My biggest gripe with Kakarot is that they completely skipped the fight between Trunks and Cell, but they had a fight between Semi-Cell and base form Goku which never ever happened. That's why u don't remember this in the game
Super Saiyan, according to the official info about the transformation, has four "grades." Super Vegeta was Grade 2, while Trunks went to Grade 3 vs. Cell. Goku and Gohan achieve Grade 4 (Full-power Super Saiyan). It got a little too convoluted with the grading until Super Saiyan 2 came along.
So about the cut back to Goku and Gohan, they're not actually sensing what's happening, the hyperbolic Time chamber prevents that. Goku, unlike Vegeta, is actually teaching his son not to use that form. Vegeta never actually bothered to teach trunks anything in the time chamber hence why cell called him green. The point of the scene is to basically let us know that Gohan will not make the same mistake that trunks did.
I absolutely love the soundtrack in the background for Cell vs Super Trunks (Btw that’s what this version of Trunks is called.). One of my favorite episodes simply due to that soundtrack
I like that in the actual show, Cell is about to kill Vegeta, and then he screams " WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NOISE" and then realizes it's Trunks powering up
To answer Jack's question. Gotenks can go SSJ3 as well as Goku. Vegeta could learn to go 3 but tbh, it's really only *slightly* more useful than the overly-buff form Trunks was using, considering Super Saiyan 3 uses up so much energy so quickly and destroys the users body not unlike the Kaioken. the only way to negate those weaknesses is to either be dead since you have an unlimited energy supply or if the Saiyan using the form has their tail, since their tails actually help sustain the Super Saiyan forms and makes them easier to master/manage.
I don’t think the show had gone into the specifics of it, at least not in detail or just eluded to what happened to Cells version of Trunks. TFS filled in that gap with a bit more clarity. There’s another moment a few episodes later that explains something huge about Android 16 that Toriama mentioned in an interview, but never mentioned in the anime or manga. They even animate the scene themselves and rather than it being comedic it’s actually pretty serious and sheds some light on Dr. Gero. I suppose it’s not a spoiler as it’s never mentioned in the anime, manga or even in this TFS series, but Dr. Gero actually wanted to use his technology to improve humanity. He was working for the Red Ribbon Army to fund his research, but kept working toward his cybernetic enhancements after its downfall with the explicit reasoning being for revenge on Goku. It wasn’t revenge for the Red Ribbon Army, but for what you’ll see about Android 16 later. Learning Goku was an alien, a powerful alien that far outclassed Humans, was a driving force for him to become more aggressive with his research as it was clear to him an invasion was immanent.
@John Man I dunno how to spell the name, but 16s former name sounded like “Gearbole”. Given Toriamas “associatively focused” writing it’s very possible he simply forgot to mention some of this stuff when he should have or made up an answer at the last minute for interviews. Hell, TFS has ongoing jokes about how Toriama forgot Launch and Raddits existed.
It's not even Super Saiyan 2. What Trunks and Vegeta just do is boost Super Saiyan to its limit, which causes their bodies to bulk up, making them slower. Often times its referred to as Super Saiyan Grade 2 and 3.
8:24 No, the forms Vegeta and Trunks used against Cell are both evolutions of Super Saiyan 1. Vegeta used Super Saiyan Grade 2 and Trunks here is using Super Saiyan Grade 3.
Super Saiyan has various sub forms that debut in short order. "ascended" which Vegeta used, "Ultra" that Trunks used and "Full Power" which Goku and Gohan settle on. Basically Super Saiyan 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. Then we hit the true super Saiyan 2.
For the question about what form they were using. SSJ actually has multiple grades, when they first achieve ssj thats grade 1, post hyperbolic time chamber vegeta and trucks is grade 2, the buff form is grade 3 and grade 4 is what we'll see later with goku and gohan (completely mastery of the form so it doesn't waste energy, these are only attainable through the intense training of the ssj form we see from them. after that we get ssj 2, 3 god, so on and so forth.
goku is the only one that goes ss3 at least by himself, what you saw with trunks is a state that goes after ss1 but before ss2, tho I can't recall the name and YES, the in the og dragonball goku DOES send a rabbit to the moon, they can still breathe in there tho
I think according to DBZ manual, there are like 3 stages within SSJ1, basic SSj1, the one we see Goku and Trunks use against Frieza, a 2nd stage, that is the one Vegeta uses against Semi Perfect Cell, and this 3rd form that is the one Trunks uses. But it is still SSJ1 technically.
So there are different grades of Super Saiyan, when you initially get to super saiyan you’re at grade 1, when “super Vegeta” and Trunks meet semi-perfect cell they’re at grade 2, the super buff form is grade 3.
In regards to whether or not Trunks has the power to defeat Cell here, in the actual show, Cell actually did admit to Trunks that in terms of raw power, Trunks did outmatch him. Problem was that the loss of speed due to that form made that power useless.

This is easily one of my favorite episodes of Dragon Ball Z abridged I’ve seen it so many times that I am able to quote the _entire_ thing line by line
Goku and Gohan weren't looking in on the fight, Goku was demonstrating that he also can assume the "ascended Super Saiyan" form that Trunks can, and that he's fully aware of the form's drawbacks.
To answer your question about the hyperbolic time chamber, if you destroy the building on the inside that severe’s the connection to the outside and vice versa if you destroyed the outside you can’t go inside, it happens in the buu saga when piccolo and gotenks try to trap buu in there, but if your energy is high enough you can scream a portal back to the real world lmao 🤣
1:40 They don't really show it in kakarot but they actually do destroy the hyperbolic time chamber building during the Majin Buu saga. After he's kicked the ass's of basically all the Z warriors they try to trap him in there by destroying the building and Buu literally screams so hard he tears a hole in space/time allowing him to escape.
10:41 Nah, that's real too. Its from the original series, this crazy rabbit man that could turn anything into carrots. Goku convinced him to live on the moon and then sent him there. Though Piccolo did blow up the moon around the start of Z to stop a rampaging ape Gohan, so the fate of the rabbit man is anyone's guess... Actually I don't remember if Roshi blowing up the moon happened before or after Goku sent him there, so there's that to consider as well.
There are many rules to Popo's Training but here's the ones we only know that has been shared: 1: Do not talk about Popo's Training, 2: Do not explain Popo's Training, 4: Do not eat Popo's snacks, 6: Do not break Popo's stuff,
1:40 Dunno if it wasn't clear in the game, but Piccolo blows up the door to the time chamber to trap him, Gotenks and Buu inside when it looked like Gotenks was losing.
Broken time chamber: explained in the Buu saga Other SSJ3 other than Goku: Refer to the Buu saga of your kakarot playthrough Rabbit on the moon: Not a joke, happens in OG dragonball
4:05 - I know TFS wants to get loads of jokes, and they are all gold, but in here they made a mishap of making Cell indirectly foreshadow his own downfall
everytime i see this episode, how he reacts to " nobody will remember you" is so human, how fearful of being forgotten in death, always makes me think cell could have turned good, even in the original he wasnt irrationally evil, he had being (basically) brainwashed to hate goku and to get to perfection at all costs, but even then his ego was bigger than that, i believe there was a chance at cell having a change of heart once he reached perfect, but oh well
Thing is from what everyone else knows Cell is a literal psychopath. He was obsessed with fighting on the bad way,not only to battle and become stronger but also to show off and specially play with his meal on a radical scale. They perfectly portrayed that here too.
Notice how he has the idea for the tournament AFTER trunks says that Just to be remenbered forever since that kind of catastrophe would be on history books and will prob be remenbered for as long as modern human civilization existed, that hit him hard
Hey Jack, since abridged ends after the cell saga, will you be watching the Buu saga (OG release)? I know you want to watch Super, but maybe before as a lead in!? (there's answers to your hyperbolic time chamber question haha.. And I'd love to see your reactions)

Boy I just came home from Dragon Bal Super: Super Hero movie and I gotta say, this is great timing. I never saw the reviews but if anyone says its a crap movie, I'll fight em. My boi Gohan and Piccolo were well respected to a decent degree.
Since I haven’t really seen anyone explain it, the buff form is “super saiyan grade 3” it’s basically just a different level of super saiyan 1. Technically right on the cusp of super saiyan 2. But like I’ve seems others say, yeah, that form is basically never used again after this. I can only recall seeing it used once after this in dragon ball super. But that was for like…30 seconds
Ok so the form that vegeta used against imperfect cell was super Saiyan grade 2 (not to confuse with super Saipan 2) which is slightly stronger than a normal super Saipan but doesn't increase speed, while the one that trunks used and goku talked about is the super saiyan grade 3.
To answer your question about the Hyperbolic Time Chamber since TFS wont be abridging the Buu saga: If the entrance is destroyed (like completely destroyed, not what Goku and Gohan accidently did while training) while someone is still inside, they would "theoretically" be trapped inside with no way of escaping until it was repaired by the Guardian of the lookout from the outside. I say "theoretically" though because Piccolo destroyed the entrance to trap Majin Buu inside, yet Majin Buu and later Super Siayan 3 Gotenks were able to output so much energy that they created their own wormholes to escape the chamber.
It's the mixture of Frieza and vegeta in him. To put it simple every time trunks went to the past and changed something it caused the time lines to split cell if from a different time line than future trunks

I like that in the actual show, Cell is about to kill Vegeta, and then he screams " WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NOISE" and then realizes it's Trunks powering up
Found this reaction series a few days ago and since your last DBZA upload I’ve watched the entire series and all of your Kakarot play through
Trunks is played by DragonBall Z Abridged creator Scott Frechs aka KaiserNeko.
“Careful Junior you don’t want that gift horse to bite you” please remember this line it’s foreshadowing 😂😂😂
10:31 no he really sent 3 people to the moon and i think they were still there when it blew up beside the whole you cant live on the moon part
That last part feels like headcanon.
Still love Cell's DBZA voice. It fits him... perfectly.
It's not even Super Saiyan 2. What Trunks and Vegeta just do is boost Super Saiyan to its limit, which causes their bodies to bulk up, making them slower. Often times its referred to as Super Saiyan Grade 2 and 3.
I thought the forms was called Ascended and Ultra Super Saiyan
The rabbit to the moon bit was true, it happened in the original Dragonball
8:24 No, the forms Vegeta and Trunks used against Cell are both evolutions of Super Saiyan 1. Vegeta used Super Saiyan Grade 2 and Trunks here is using Super Saiyan Grade 3.
Just realized how long I've been watching you without being subbed, my bad dude you're killing it XD
"Behind all that smarm is a dead man" still has to be one of the coldest lines ever
and "Trunks you couldn't fathom the amount of dead men behind me" has gotta be one of the coldest replies ever
SSJ actually has multiple grades, when they first achieve ssj thats grade 1, post hyperbolic time chamber vegeta and trucks is grade 2, the buff form is grade 3 and grade 4 is what we'll see later with goku and gohan (completely mastery of the form so it doesn't waste energy, these are only attainable through the intense training of the ssj form we see from them. after that we get ssj 2, 3 god, so on and so forth.
goku is the only one that goes ss3 at least by himself, what you saw with trunks is a state that goes after ss1 but before ss2, tho I can't recall the name
and YES, the in the og dragonball goku DOES send a rabbit to the moon, they can still breathe in there tho
You forgot mastered SSJ aka the 4th form
So there are different grades of Super Saiyan, when you initially get to super saiyan you’re at grade 1, when “super Vegeta” and Trunks meet semi-perfect cell they’re at grade 2, the super buff form is grade 3.
In regards to whether or not Trunks has the power to defeat Cell here, in the actual show, Cell actually did admit to Trunks that in terms of raw power, Trunks did outmatch him. Problem was that the loss of speed due to that form made that power useless.
Narrator: Previously
P. Cell: R for Revolution, which will be televised🎶
Narrator: And now
Trunks: Oh what the hell are you planning now?!
P. Cell: ...My revolution.
The next episode is one of my favorites.
(prepare to pause the video a lot)
Perfect cell is going to show how funny, evil, and straight up terrifying he can be.
"You can't fathom the amount of dead men behind me" the way he said it too......the hardest line in dbza or even dragon ball in general lowkey
Notice as the series goes on after cell absorbs 17/18 his Attitude towards 16 changes from when they first met
6:48 "Hikari no Willpower"
13:47
Somewhere in the distance
You can hear a faint voice
It's Frieza going "like a bitch"
this was one of the greatest eps team 4 star ever did, the writing was exceptional.
Then goes horror film on the whole crew.
Roshi blew up the moon afterwards
The amazing thing is that DBZA remixed some of the soundtrack and the quality only goes up from here
Fun fact the music used here is a remix of trunks theme from the original history of trunks special "hikari no willpower"
There are many rules to Popo's Training but here's the ones we only know that has been shared:
1: Do not talk about Popo's Training,
2: Do not explain Popo's Training,
4: Do not eat Popo's snacks,
6: Do not break Popo's stuff,
1:40 Dunno if it wasn't clear in the game, but Piccolo blows up the door to the time chamber to trap him, Gotenks and Buu inside when it looked like Gotenks was losing.
Broken time chamber: explained in the Buu saga
Other SSJ3 other than Goku: Refer to the Buu saga of your kakarot playthrough
Rabbit on the moon: Not a joke, happens in OG dragonball
Since I haven't seen anyone point it out for Jack: That form of Trunks was using is basically what "Super Vegeta" is. Just a lot slower
5:25 a perfect description for how cell got here
Where Broly got his Inspiration was trunks Ssj Grade 3
4:05 - I know TFS wants to get loads of jokes, and they are all gold, but in here they made a mishap of making Cell indirectly foreshadow his own downfall
now you know why this is my favorite episode of DBZ:Abridged
everytime i see this episode, how he reacts to " nobody will remember you" is so human, how fearful of being forgotten in death, always makes me think cell could have turned good, even in the original he wasnt irrationally evil, he had being (basically) brainwashed to hate goku and to get to perfection at all costs, but even then his ego was bigger than that, i believe there was a chance at cell having a change of heart once he reached perfect, but oh well
Thing is from what everyone else knows Cell is a literal psychopath. He was obsessed with fighting on the bad way,not only to battle and become stronger but also to show off and specially play with his meal on a radical scale. They perfectly portrayed that here too.
I agree with you
Notice how he has the idea for the tournament AFTER trunks says that
Just to be remenbered forever since that kind of catastrophe would be on history books and will prob be remenbered for as long as modern human civilization existed, that hit him hard
Trunks' voice actor is Kaiser, the director, editor, and one of the head writers and cocreators of this series. He's the shit, and he *did* go hard.
Hey Jack, since abridged ends after the cell saga, will you be watching the Buu saga (OG release)? I know you want to watch Super, but maybe before as a lead in!? (there's answers to your hyperbolic time chamber question haha.. And I'd love to see your reactions)
He already knows what happens in the buu saga from kakarot.
@@johnman8398 does he though? Haha. He asked if Goku was the only SSJ3 in the series 😂. I just honestly want more dbz content from him, I love his videos
@@walteroakley3623 Yeah he knows and while he asked about SSJ3, I'm not surprised because alot of reactors who haven't watched dbz multiple times forget stuff like that.
@@johnman8398 yeah I was jk man. I watched the whole kakarot journey! As I said, I just want more if he's willing to do it!
By the way, the way Goku explains how Trunks' state works has some rooting in canon. Goku is said to be a genius prodigy when it comes to anything related to fighting; thing is, he's not as well-versed in pretty much everything else.
the song you hear is future trunks theme during the fight
If you break the entire building inside the Time Chamber you’re never leaving. That’s your one exist and you blew it up.
No toriyama constantly forgets that ss2 and ss3 exist, that's why vegeta skips them, cause those forms were forgotten.
Vegeta doesn't skip ss2? He uses it in the fight against both of the buu, and against Goku as Majin Vegeta
11:21 Me when I'm depressed
Boy I just came home from Dragon Bal Super: Super Hero movie and I gotta say, this is great timing. I never saw the reviews but if anyone says its a crap movie, I'll fight em. My boi Gohan and Piccolo were well respected to a decent degree.
Oh hell yeah. In this one Cell is fuckin BRUTAL lol. Poor trunks,he was done the dirtiest imo.
Ruthless
When you remember that Bulma from the future timeline is the last remaining Z “Fighter”, waiting for her son who will never return home 😔
Cells ego is a product of his Saiyan pride. It’s in his blood.
Ok so the form that vegeta used against imperfect cell was super Saiyan grade 2 (not to confuse with super Saipan 2) which is slightly stronger than a normal super Saipan but doesn't increase speed, while the one that trunks used and goku talked about is the super saiyan grade 3.
To answer your question about the Hyperbolic Time Chamber since TFS wont be abridging the Buu saga:
If the entrance is destroyed (like completely destroyed, not what Goku and Gohan accidently did while training) while someone is still inside, they would "theoretically" be trapped inside with no way of escaping until it was repaired by the Guardian of the lookout from the outside. I say "theoretically" though because Piccolo destroyed the entrance to trap Majin Buu inside, yet Majin Buu and later Super Siayan 3 Gotenks were able to output so much energy that they created their own wormholes to escape the chamber.
1:40 "What happens if they destroy the entire thing?" And it happens again, predicting stuff...
Gotta say, I love the concept that Goku has the same potential for intellectual thought as Gohan, but it is ONLY in the realm of fighting
Its revealed that cell is the reason there were so many changes in the timeline
It's the mixture of Frieza and vegeta in him.
To put it simple every time trunks went to the past and changed something it caused the time lines to split cell if from a different time line than future trunks
That swallow sound is the bane of my existence
