Great video …. I checked it out before I resurfaced my basement floor.
I had the same mastic under asbestos tiles. I thought about removing the mastic after seeing videos but decided to just clean the floor very well…. Dawn soap, sprayed degreaser, mopped & then rinsed . I used Seal Krete paint with paint chips & then sealed it with Seal Krete protective sealer. Obviously the surface isn’t as smooth but, it’s holding up well & saved me a ton of work. The paint adhered well to the mastic and the sealer as well. Just thought I’d share this with you DIYers out there if you think you need to get the mastic up. ✌🏻

Great video and instructions. I plan to do this in a few weeks. I bought a quart bottle of the Bean-E-Doo MR500 just to try, but I expect I will need a few gallons as I need to cover 200 to 300 square feet. I also plan to attach some visqueen a couple of feet up on all the walls to protect them. Your video made it look fairly easy but I'm concerned about excess product seeping under the walls and into the adjoining rooms (because the old floors were not poured flat). I guess I will try to build some sort of dam with duct tape and plastic tarp material around the base of the walls.

Caution ! ! --- I have read articles that SOY based removers like this leave a "oily residue" that gets into cement and is VERY difficult to get out of the cement floor!!!
If your planning to use a Thinnest to re-tile it could possibly lift and ruin your job.

just scrub it with hot water and spic and span or other detergent. It's not as difficult as you are making it seem.

@@truthseeker0219 wont the oils seep into the concrete.. not too sure scrubbing will lift the oils out... in 2 or 3 Yrs you will know if your floor lifts. I thought I read numerous stories from Tiling Contractors who used Thin-Set who regret using this Bean e doo stuff.,... Immediately anything seems to work. Over time you will know if your floor lifts.

@@edgbostonnorth7167 Oil floats on water. Scrub it good with a detergent / degreaser and hot water, mop it up. Keep the mop head rinsed out as best as possible, and the water / cleaner changed frequently. Repeat if you feel necessary with a new mop head even. Then make sure it's within the moisture specs of whatever you're applying. You don't want to soak the floor in water like that then immediately go over it with mastic or an epoxy coating for example. It'll lift the residue out in all but the roughest of concrete. If it's that rough though, I don't think it'll matter if theres a tiny bit of residue deep down.
I'm 9/10 sure those tile contractors rushed the job, and didn't do thorough prep. That's the failure of the vast majority of coating and adhesives I've ever seen - shitty half-assed prep work. There's another number of failures from inappropriate use of products, like using a hard oil base coating over a flexible latex primer or something along those lines.

We have a carpet glue on top of the mastic. Should we attempt to remove the carpet glue first?

Does this work on other types of adhesives or only on black mastic?

You can use it for glue under engineered flooring put 6 mil poly plastic over it come back next morning and remove the glye with scrapers to clean a slav as well . Sorry this is years later 😂😂
