    I used the bonding agent, then floor levelling, then a glue down cork.
    Worked well !!

    I do asbestos inspections and testing, that looks like black mastic. Those vinyl tiles can also contain double digit percentages of asbestos.

    If you're like me and cannot get laticrete products in my area, the mapei ecoprim is a good product for the same purpose and works extremely well. Used it several times in this application and for plaster substrate for backsplash, (even though the Mosaic thinset says you can just go right over top of the plaster at the bond I do not trust it) and have had zero issues and great results

    I'd be curious to see a 30 day bond test done with either ceramic or porcelain tile. My basement floor has cut back over every square inch, I removed the old linoleum tile when I moved in. I think I'll try it as I've been wondering what my options are when I finally get around to putting in a new floor...

    This is interesting because I just got off the phone with this company and they told me you cannot use prime and bond over existing adhesive and that it has to all be removed because you’re only as strong as what you’re sticking to and my tile floor won’t last if I go right over black mastic

    We use razorblades scrapers first together ant loose adhesive off then use mapei eco prim grip which has a grit in it ;oops pretty much same as what you used and is dry in an hour ready for tile or Ditra. That is a pretty common scenario out here in the rust belt.

    Isn’t that asbestos? In the Uk we most likely would think it was and they usually are on the back of the Lino tile too, although low risk but still would have got it tested and left alone and just screed over if it was asbestos

    • @travismartin1915
      @travismartin1915 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, been looking at uncoupling membranes. Was being steered to Blanke Permat because the claim is that it adds substantial strength to the floor in using the mat. Nowhere have I seen any comparison tests on crack isolation or strength claims. Loved your tests on grouts ,very surprising. Plenty of people using these uncoupling membranes but no comparisons.
    Saw Sal DiBasi's endorsement of Blanke Permat. We may all be surprised in a real life comparison of products in tests.
