New AC-3 Demodulator!

Yes...a brand new old stock unit! Now again I know I need a better setup when talking about this stuff and my iphone / being one handed is getting tiresome but its all I have for now. This think looks amazing and is a welcome addition to my setup!

OMG I can’t believe you have the same 800 with the light issue! I use mine still after finally getting the light on to get the settings right. I’ve been looking for a ep9 ever since to upgrade.
And the 800 runs really hot.
Great video can’t wait to see more. I’m super envious of your vt60 as I’ve always wanted to see what a high end plasma looked like and have looked for used ones to no avail.

The LED on your SDP-E800 has "colder solder" joints on where the florescent display connects to the board. The issue is caused by the heat build up in that unit (which is why I am modding my 800 w/ a exhaust fan down the road). If you're comfortable working w/ a soldering iron, you can reheat all these connections (probably about 100 of them).
Also, I would recommend a nice open air rack for your AV gear. It's always nicer to have it laid out nice and vertical (not to mention not having to always bend down low).
BTW... the EP9ES sold for about $800 when new. You were close. It is a nice unit I can attest to since I've had one forever and it's also being used as a AC3-RF Demodulator / digital switcher now.

I myself have e.g. the DENON AVD-2000 decoder for my Laserdisc setup.
And such decoders with AC3RF demodulator are very difficult to find anyway XD

The 7C printed on the back is a manufacture date. It stands for the 3rd quarter of 1997.

Just seen this video recently, and I'm thinking about picking up this unit for my laserdisc player. How do have it hooked up to your receiver. I have a couple of Denon receivers myself. Are you doing Coaxial or Toslink?

Remove the center speaker off the top and put the speaker on the second shelf tilted upwards and place whats on the bottom shelf on the glass top and power equipment on the bottom shelf,I know thats a lot of moving but that is what makes the most sense.

awesome LD collection brother!! what is your opinion of the video quality of LD compared to DVD?? it's funny, i'm 54yo and by the time i was out of school and on my own and starting to make a little extra money to start building my stereo/video system back in the day-by the time i got to the video part and looking at LD- it was all but gone from the market and dvd slid right the fuck in. ,lolol , love the ES line ,i have several pieces in my hi-fi gear collection-AWESOME GEAR!!!
