I love it when the line starts to move side ways, also a bite on a trap is pretty awesome. Hell, I love all kinds of bites for that matter. Red fish hit alot like bass do.
I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve decided to get back into fishing and bought another boat. I quit because I didn’t really have anyone to teach me and I never got anywhere.
"Hey you gonna get that" is great. I was teaching my brother how to fish a weightless senko a few weeks ago and watched his line tighten up and start moving to the left faster than anything I'd ever seen. By the time I told him to set the hook it was already long lost.
There was a recent article featured on Bass Resource that was all about boat etiquette. Go there and do a search for it and you shouldn't have a problem finding it. It's a good read.
Wish when I started fishing bass and walleye I had watched this video, cuz I set the hook on just about every rock and twig in my local reservoir. Probably got laughed at my fair share of times before I learned to be patient and be less impulsive. Great tip it'll come in handy teaching my kid and younger brother to fish bass
FYI. I'm trying to get him started with his own channel so he can concentrate on the bank fishing videos. I just don't have the time right now to do both. It may take till this fall but I'm sure he will do them. Do a search for Ryan Lamb. He has an old video on his channel where two mexicans show him how to fish with a beer can.
Nice video. My favorite video of yours is the bank fishing video you did with that young man college fisherman. I hope you can do some more bank fishing videos. Bank fishing is fun.
Yes.. I had that happen when fishing his double fluke rig. It was on for about 1/2 second and nada. Not a pike because the fluke had no teeth marks. The hook gap just was not open enough to penetrate.
I can't count the times I've caught fish on a light tick, as soon as i get that tick i reel down and about 7 out of 10 times it's a fish...my fish numbers went way up after doing that...I don't know how many spit the lure out when I hesitated before...but especially in heavy pressured waters that tick on the line is the bell for me to come out swinging.....
So I was wondering if you could do a video or give tips more in-depth about setting a hook. I fish mostly with a Texas rig because that's what works for me. I know how to set a hook and what a bite feels like but most of the time when I do I come up empty. When I ask my brother what I'm doing wrong he tells me my timing is off. So I guess my question is how do I time my self to set a hook. Sorry if that's confusing
Does line weight affect bite detection at all? Yesterday, I went out bank fishing with my father, and for myself, I just brought a spinning rod loaded with 8-pound copolymer. I used a Zodiac Hybrid jig head with a VileCraw, and dragged that along the bottom adjacent to a concrete wall. I'm not even quite sure what I felt that made that bite different than the feeling of that bait catching on the bottom, but I held the rod tip still for a moment, and then set the hook, and was surprised to find a small largemouth on the other end of the line. I don't even know how many bites I've missed for them being so subtle; this was actually my first bass on an artificial lure.
Great videos. I have been fishing for a bit, but just recently invested in a new bass boat. Any tips on boating etiquette while on the water? Planning on taking my boat out to Lanier this weekend, and I know it's going to be busy on the water.
Could you make a video explaining how to better prevent fish from running the bait under logs. I fish alot of places with underwater logs and this becomes a problem often. -Thanks
IMO, anything top water you set the hook when you feel a serious pull or at least when the lure is submerged cause otherwise it can fly at you real fast. A frog is not that dangerous, but a popper with 6 hooks is another story lol. Easier said than done when you've been casting for an hour without a bite!
Off topic. I have resisted anything not top water for decades. Please do one about free floating(no weight) a trick worm and walking the dog just under the surface. Pros and cons
Flukemaster Great. I like your double fluke aka donkey rig. Trick worms would work the same way. Many thanks for all the help you give us. Your insights eliminate a lot of wasted, lost time on our part. You represent UGA well. Thank you so much from all of us who still have much to learn, no matter how old we are. The first bass I caught on plastic was free floating, just like it was a fly, slightly twitching it. All of a sudden I noticed my line moving off to one side. I felt nothing. I set the hook just like it was a wet fly. Now I like to wacky worm and again fish it like I fish a muddler minnow or a woolly bugger in still water except not on a fly rod....
ok . now to send the cat down range with a mouse tied to my line.... Got to see how it feels to catch a 15 pound cat with 10 pound line.... LOL... I Know.... ITS BASS....
There's nothing cooler in the world then seeing your line start to swim off ... I love it... reel down and swing !

Great tip and nice office! Looking forward to seeing the "man-cave"...I mean the garage.
Love your video's. just getting back into fishing and your ability to teach is really encouraging.

this is a good example here lol, but nothing is a better teacher than experience ;)
I totally agree. Time on the water is the best teacher.

Thank you very much. Very useful video.
When I was fishing with a crankbait, the bass hammered it so hard, they hooked themselves!
Or sometimes the bass nearly takes the rod out of your hands haha I love those kind of bites!
yep.
Great video. Could you do one explaining the rod positions? for example, you said 10 o clock, could you go over the rest?

Im kind the same way honestly

Yes but the difference is so subtle that it doesn't matter
Thank you
Great videos.

What time do the fish bite
hey what is your take on the strike king dream shot
That's me at 0:43!!!!
Make some vids on how to fish different lures
I've never fished a crankbait. What does the bite usually feel like
Like you’re stuck on something and it’s pulling you
how do you tell when to set the hook with a top water spro frog?
When you actually feel the fish on the line, not when you see it strike. Set the hook about two seconds after the strike.

I have a video called "How to fish a Fluke". I fish a weightless trickworm the exact same way.

Ok Gene does go for a deep diving crankbait
or musky... Both of those are in that water..
How can u tell if a bass is male or female
its female IG they have yellow oval shaped stuff in the fish it's her eggs
I saw myself at like the last to seconds on the screen;)
You have an apple coming out of your head! ;)
Sweet 2:48 I'm on the computer lol
You take people out?
Whats your email? I live in Georgia too and have some questions about fishing in the area
