Bro have been planning my anniversary for Feb 2025 in time square for months in advance now. By the way I'm from the caribbean island of jamaica. So I've been watching videos of how to navigate the air train system to get to Manhattan, and trust me, I had to save your video for reference when I get to new york. This is the most simple and straight forward video I've seen. Thanks bro. I wish I could give u a 1000 likes for this video. I subscribed immediately. Thnks.🎉🎉
helpful tip i learned from my friend: if you've got a roundtrip flight booked to/from JFK and your party is 2+ people (aka not traveling alone), buy the 10-trip metrocard instead of using tap to pay - ends up being less than $8.50 per person per trip!
I always get lost when I arrive at JFK and it usually ends up taking me a good 2 hours to get into the city. This time, I wanted to be prepared. Thank you so much for this, it has taken away the stress of knowing where to go.
@jared I commented on a 2022 video not realising there was an updated one. For Airtrain to Jamaica Station, will it announce that im there? And when purchasing LIRR, from what time is considered off-peak? Thanks for your very straightforward videos, helping an anxious girl out! 😅
Peak is the lengthy rush hour ... so 6-10am, and 4-8pm. The price differential isn't too bad. You'll be fine, especially with the new upgrades & not having to buy a Metro card!
Hi thanks for the video, really informative and gives me confidence to use this method to get to Manhattan. Re the contactless payment how do i pay for children? We are a group of 4 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 8. Thanks for your help.
For a group of 4, it might be just as cost-effective to take a taxi. If you think the kids would enjoy the trains, I would just keep using your card against the touchpad, and sending an adult through first, and then the two kids. One of the workers there in a red jacket will be happy to help!
Great video. However, you might help some needing to head to Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan Financial District via LIRR to Atlantic Terminal. From there, finding the subway to various lines. And Atlantic Terminal is much less complicated for tourists.
Woo! Thanks for the updated video! I plan to travel with one large checked in bag? Does it ever get busy to the point where it would be a struggle to travel with a large(ish) bag?
when i arrive to the penn station and my hotel is 13 min away in walking (at 8th ave) is it safe to walk this distance with 1 large bag after midnight ?
Hey could you please tell me how long would it take if I take the subway instead of LIRR and also could you please share what the price difference would be? Thank you!
It depends on your destination. The AirTrain + the A or E train would be around 80 minutes? The AirTrain + LIRR is around 50 minutes. The subway is up to $2.90 per ride. I forget what the LIRR was last time... but it'll be $8-$14 each way, depending on if it's rush hour.
One should mention 2 other cheap ways to Manhattan. -1 take Q10 to the last stop, then transfer to a Manhattan bound train, A,E,F which will get you to Manhattan in 30 minutes or you can take local trains. They take longer N,R . -2 take the rockaways bound A train an take the Airtrain from there. Many people travel this routes for 2.95 dollars
Can i use cash to pay, i had to cancel my card due to fruad but bearriving back in nyc the 31st at jfk, is it hard to find airtrain, i would like to take it to 34st
I think there are still machines where you can use cash to buy a Metro Card to use instead of a credit card. The AirTrain is easy to find at JFK. If you're trying to go to 34th Street in Manhattan, you'll take the LIRR from Jamaica Station to Penn Station (which has exits to 34th)
It seems only your video has th-cam.com/video/g6JIB4l1ARs/w-d-xo.html to prove now people can get our Jamica AirTrain using OMNY instead of Metro Card. Thank you so much! ^_^
The contactless upgrade makes things so much more convenient!
100% Such a great idea
Yes absolutely
Can i pay in cash if i don't have Debit or credit card

Glad it's helpful. Enjoy your trip!
This was super helpful, thank you! I was initially apprehensive about getting from JFK to Manhattan, but your video made it so easy. Thanks!
Glad to hear - you'll be good to go!
This will help me immensely as I head to NYC now for the marathon
Awesome- good luck!

Can you use the same card for multiple people? Would you just pass it to the next member of your group as each person goes through the gate ?
@@itsdatgooeytho yes you can!
Hi, someone said it needs more than 10 min to able to swipe again..if 4 of us then suggest to get 4 metro cards? Is it true?
@@mrsgeddy588 nope, just used a 10 trip card a few days ago at JFK.

Great- they've really made it better than ever. Have a good trip!
@JaredDillinghamTravel Just want to say thank you again. Got from JFK to the hotel without any issues. Took the LIRR route and it was great 👍
Ty! Only bad experiences I had in nyc was dealing with taxis from jfk to manhattan
I usually avoid them, too ... since traffic is unpredictable
I found your video very helpful.great work!!
Glad to hear it - enjoy your visit to the city!
Thank you very much for this. This was super helpful.
Glad to hear it - enjoy your trip!
very helpful, thank you !👌

@@JaredDillinghamTravel ... sure i'll do 🇺🇸
Great advice
Thanks for checking it out!
Good video. Thanks!
Hope it helps!
Any elevator access to Airtrain platforms?
Yes!

Can you use credit card contactless payment to use the LIRR too? I mean without needing to purchase physical tickets. Thanks
For the LIRR, you'll have to use a kiosk to buy tickets by the platform.
@@JaredDillinghamTravel thanks

thank you!
Have a good trip!
Would you recommend the subway or the railroad from Jamica? Thanks for the video!
I almost always do the LIRR ... either to Grand Central or Penn Station. It's much faster than the subway.
@@JaredDillinghamTravel Thanks mate!
So, we don't have to buy a metro card? We can use contactless debit card for the whole journey?
No Metro Card needed anymore! Even on the subways, it's contactless.
But a metro card is still cheaper than paying every ride contactless?
So I am from the Caribbean Jamaica. So I can use my regular bank card tap and go ? Without any hassle ?
Around how much contact less this will cost in comparison to the metro card ...my second time and I really want to navigate around
Would you recommend taking the same journey after 8 pm?
Yes, we've done it many times. You might have fewer train options from Jamaica into Manhattan at night.
Woo! Thanks for the updated video! I plan to travel with one large checked in bag? Does it ever get busy to the point where it would be a struggle to travel with a large(ish) bag?
You'll be with a lot of other people with large bags! Should be fine.
Can i use the same debit card for two people when using contactless foing through the turnstile?
can you use your direct debit card for two people ? or is it best to buy tickets for airtrain ?
Is the only way to the Penn platform the stairs
It's all accessible. They have elevators and escalators.
when i arrive to the penn station and my hotel is 13 min away in walking (at 8th ave) is it safe to walk this distance with 1 large bag after midnight ?
I think so. 8th Avenue will still have people out walking around.
What time is the last airtrain? Just wondering if this will work for my late arriving flight...
It's 24/7 ... Even during off-peak hours, trains run every 4-10 minutes.
thank you lot's😘
You're welcome 😊
How much was the LIRR to Penn?
Hey could you please tell me how long would it take if I take the subway instead of LIRR and also could you please share what the price difference would be? Thank you!

so we don't need to buy the metro card anymore? that's handy to know.
however, what if I stay around a week with a heavy use of subway? will it be cheaper to use the 7 day pass?
If you're using the subway daily for a week, I'd do a 7-day pass.
One should mention 2 other cheap ways to Manhattan.

How Can you take the air from Nnewark Airport to JFK
The AirTrain only runs to JFK. From Newark, it's very easy to take one of the Jersey Transit trains into Manhattan.
Can i use cash to pay, i had to cancel my card due to fruad but bearriving back in nyc the 31st at jfk, is it hard to find airtrain, i would like to take it to 34st

noooo, its the same video you had already uploaded. You shouldve done subway on this one.
This one has updates. I have a subway one coming, but still need to edit...
