Greetings from a New Yorker! Thanks for a fun travel video! I would suggest next time the cheaper CityTicket for the LIRR portion of the trip, which only costs $5 between Jamaica and Penn Station/Grand Central ($7 if traveling during weekday rush hours). The CityTicket used to only be available on weekends, but in recent years they made it available all the time.. only thing is that you have to buy and use the ticket on the same day of travel.
Hi. I am visiting NY for the first time in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the City Ticket info. I am arriving after 6pm so it will be off peak and is this available to buy at the station machine for LIRR-Grand Central?
@@dave2261 Yes, you can buy the off peak CityTicket when you get off the Airtrain in Jamaica. When purchasing, select Grand Central as your destination.
Thanks for the video! I'm flying into JFK (from Australia) in a couple months time, and will definitely be following what you both did to get into Manhattan.
@@DolittlesDomore will do! Just also wanted to check if you happened to have any issues with the larger checked luggage that you had when travelling on the train?
If you didn't see the other comments, make sure you buy CityTicket instead of off-peak. It is only $5 per person from Jamaica station (Zone 3) to Penn or Grand Central station (Zone 1)
Thanks for the video. Helped a lot Wife and I are off to New York end of May and had wanted to see Grand Central. I had worked out how to get from JFK to Penn station for mid town but plans now changed after watching your video so we can visit Grand Central on the way in instead of coming back another day.
😂I’ve died watching your video! You guys have such a refreshing charm. I watched at the 4 minute mark probably 5 times. I didn’t realize you were saying ‘Penn Station’ and ❤ how you say “We wanted to have a browse at Grand Central anyway, didn’t we?”. Like you were just talking to a friend and not making a video. I also thought it was funny that the video description says “easiest way to get to Manhattan” and then the elevator part was crazy 😂 I’ve died laughing! You all are great and I’m subscribing 🥰
Thank you for your comment. It made both of us smile. We have another TH-cam channel and have been making videos for about 4 years. If we can make people smile watching our videos then we feel we have done a good thing 😊
Aww thank you. I have just spent roughly 30 seconds trying to work out what GCS stands for 😂 I’m editing our next video for our other channel so I forgot what was even in this one 😂 LY too. Hope your weekend is awesome just like you xxx
The subway seems more confusing (other people’s metro systems always overwhelm at first!), but it’s actually faster and easier and lets you choose connections to stations closer to your destination. That LIRR station under Grand Central is very new and approximately 8 million miles underground.
You can but only at the ticket machines. You still need to use contactless to get a physical ticket. It will only get you through the barrier on the subway.
thank you for the tips, curious if you can use apply pay to buy the ticket, i heard there is new system for subway payment since last year, not sure if its applied to LIRR as well?
We used Omni pay (you can use Apple Pay for this system) on the Subway. To my knowledge this isn’t present on the LIRR however the ticket machines have contactless so you would be able to use Apple Pay that way.
Hello!! Thanks for your video very interesting...you get off at central station but if I want to stop at Penn Station when have I to get off? Before or after? Thanks a lot
I believe they are different trains from the same platform. The train that came before ours went to Penn. You need to look on the board and see where each train stops at. It is the same zone as GC but not the same train.
Hi Guys,Does anyone know the best cheapest quickest way to travel from JFK to Suydam Street in Bushwick using air train and metro as there is three of us do we pay 3 x 8.25 dollars for the A Train plus 3 x 2.75 dollars to get off at Jamaican believe and then get to central myrtle avenue if that is the best way and the correct way can someone confirm for me that would be much appreciated.
I think in truth you may know the answer to this and realise that it was a slip of the tongue after a long day and a long flight? Thank you for pointing out my mistake for others who read the comments. Much appreciated.
@@DolittlesDomoremy apologies if my question upset you. My intention was to raise the points since your item is entitled as a guide. So folk need clarity of information. My intention was to point that out.
NYC has 5 boroughs: Queens where both airports are located, Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. Manhattan is a part of NYC and not just NYC. Queens is where NYC beings. It’s the most diverse borough and what NYC is all about.
Thank you. Yes we knew about the 5 boroughs. Next time we go we would like to explore more of them as other than the Airport at Queens, we only saw Manhattan.
You can take air train to Lefferts Blvd, get off for free and take the A train to Manhattan. This is the last stop for the A, you can always get a seat and there is space for your luggage. It will cost you 2.90 per person. You will also be in penn station. It will take you a bit longer, but not much.
Yes this is obviously an option but not everyone has the budget for that. We saved ourselves roughly $100 by getting the trains which was simple enough but thank you for the comment
Hey, once you left the Airtrain you bought the 10-pass airtrain ticket but it is printed on metrocard? If I also want to buy a 7-day card for metro, do i do it on the same nachine and receive 2 metrocards (1 for aitrain and one for metro)? Thanks
I am not sure if you could combine both on the same card so would need to check with staff at the station. We were told however that as there is a $34 7 day cap when using your debit or credit card contactless so this is apparently cheaper than a metro card.

Thank you, if I wanted to get a 7 day subway pass can I add that to the metro card at the same time?
My understanding is yes you could add a Subway top up to the card to the metro card BUT I am not 100% on that so I would ask at Jamaica station 😊
Massive😮

What if you did it with an plane and flew near the "unspecified, but actually specified area"
I’m sorry but I’m not sure what you are asking?
@@DolittlesDomore remember 9/11? That's what I tried to joke about, which I should never do probably
Just a quick question…the single price seemed to be $8.50. Not £8.50. So not £17? Surely? Given exchange rates…also, how long did the trip take?

@dayleyhouse this is if you go via the E train. It's fine. But you have to pay for the airtrain, but it's convenient, if you are going to Manhattan.
