Many blessing to you and your family from the Young Spirit drum. - Jacob Faithful, Head Singer - Young Spirit.

You feel it in your bones.

As a Native American I can honestly say that seeing a vocal coach reacting to my culture gives me a grin from ear to ear 😄 love the positive energy and everything! The video definitely is great but it’s not as good as actually being in the environment😌 it’s a whole different feeling when you can feel the vibrations of the drum and the vocals along with the bells from the dancers it just brings it all together.

For so long we weren't allowed to sing or dance. It was illegal by the US government. We sing & dance for our elders & our ancestors who weren't allowed to. The beat is in our spirit. Our hearts. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Come to a pow wow to see and hear in person. ✊🏽🪶
Same thing happened to the Gaels in Scotland. And to the Sami in the polar regions. Oppressive governments try to wipe out indigenous cultures, including language and music. We are fighting back. So important to preserve your culture and honor your ancestors!
Same for Aboriginal Australians up until after the 1967 Commonwealth Referedum. By laws to punish Aboriginal Australians on Queensland, New South Wales and Vicorian Aboriginal reserves for talking their own dialects or performing any traditional customs, song and dance ceremonies.
I’ve read some of the comments for this post and started laughing…there’s so many of us indigenous people here!! Some people recommended Cozad singers and Northern Cree…hang on gang…that’s an advanced class and we don’t want to overload this young lady with that much goodness….lol!

Hello, Rebecca! Just want to take a moment to say these are North American native peoples, not South American. You would typically find drum circles like this performing at pow wows across North America, particularly in Canada and the U.S. 😊
As an Indigenous person myself . Borders are a colonial point of view. “North America” is a combination Canada, US and Mexico….let us not also forget our brothers and sisters in “South America”
It has reached this Western Australian woman too. This is so beautiful. I adore the land of Canada. It's such a shame that it's run by such an idiot at the moment.
The look on her face when the first drum hit to hearing them sing was priceless! I could never sing like this, but I miss being in the drum. Saved my life! Would love to see you react to more.
I couldn’t sing like this eather, but drum and dance saved me. There’s no better feeling than the heartbeat of that drum. Wish I could still drum. Much respect to her for this.
“It’s almost like they’re one person” You’re right on with that. In my Native American culture, which is different but similar to theirs, we talk a lot in our public speeches how we’re all one people and this form of singing pays respect to that belief. ❤️
To Rebecca. Imagine the drum is a heartbeat, it is what everything in the dancing circle is led by. Just as our hearts lead us. The songs are sacred as well. I’m a white man with an adopted full blood native brother, and I’m lucky to be able to call these amazing people my kin by that adoption. To all you native Americans, and First Nations people, I say a humble thank you for letting me live among you and your people.
@ 5:31 you felt the ancestors, even if youre not directly native they are still here if you want to listen, such a beautiful reaction to our culture wado.

Watching you getting surprised at them singing made me really happy, as I've grown up on Powwow grounds and never and I mean never questioned the singers because I always thought was normal to hear their vocal ranges (I'm anishinaabe ^^)
The beat of the drum is the heartbeat of our mothers. It soothes us because we are reminded of that heartbeat while in the womb. That's why it's also hard to pause
I am not native but I used to dance my little cranky baby to sleep with powwow music. She is all grown up now and so different from me but the one thing we share in common is an appreciation of native music. Thanks to all the native mothers !
It means an incredible amount to me for someone to comment positively on my culture and native songs as I've heard people say that we are just screaming. It really is incredible for non natives to hear and appreciate indigenous music. Much love from Cherokee Nation!

You've crossed over into my culture and I'm loving your reactions even more now, if that's possible. These men, these singers, throughout our Native North America have powerfully melodic voices and I cannot wait for you to delve deeper into these drum groups and singers hopefully with a recommendation or two from me, as well. 😁 Love, love, love ya girly! 🔥💖
Hi there!! Thanks for reacting to Young Spirit Pow WOW , these guys are from the First Nation Indigenous tribes of North America. The singers would wait for one of the lead singers to start the singing then the rest of the drum circle singers will join in, followed by some Native American war/battle cries when they are singing. You should react to some more pow wow videos such as The Men’s Northern traditional dance and the United Pueblo Buffalo dance as a dedication tribute dance to the Water Protectors that protested against the Dakota Access PipeLine back in 2016 from Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque,New Mexico.
Blackfeet here, our music always makes me so emotional. Happy songs, sad songs, funny songs, etc. no matter what it is they just speak to the soul💖 my son just turned 7, and he's just getting an appreciation for our music, he understanding and now wants to dance, but we're not part of any officially recognized "tribe", cuz we're not "qualified". But I'd love to find the closest pow wow to go to, so we can still feel our roots, we both thirst for our heritage and it's so apparent! If anyone has any resources or connections I'd be forever grateful! -Sending love from the Mojave desert in So Cal!💖
As a singer in the powwows.. as we all say “one beat one voice” a lot of these songs are prayers for our people and we sing for the ones who can’t sing and dance for the ones that can’t dance. And we do have a lot of healing songs as well. But the drum is the heart beat to our people..
I love your reaction! Especially when you said you felt the need to run around the room, our powwow music is meant to have us wanting to dance. Much respect to you!
One thing may have missed is how much the women serve these songs. Being a” back up singer” in native culture is just as important as a drummer. They balance out the song.
I remember growing up in high school, all of us no matter what grade we used to get together and fill the valley with this singing at night outside. I miss those days. We were a community, the kids did it for fun. It was on the Navajo Reservation. It’s in native language and you just know the song or beat from the heart. You just know the song, I don’t know how to explain it 😅
Thanks for taking the time to listen to our music and I’m very glad it makes you want to get up and dance lol because it’s healing to dance, sing, and be near a drum. Highly recommend for you to look for Powwows near you!
You need to attend grand entry at gathering of nations (or any pow wow) at least once in your life. Hearing the bells and jingles from our regalia on beat with the singing is so beyond beautiful. ♥️
It is singing from the very spirit of self, this is what moved you, you should hear it when their voices start to vibrate. they use words of their own language and nations, but most who do not know the language states it is just yelling around and yet none can do as they do either, they just choose to call down is all. It is singing your prayer most times.
Native American drumming and singing hits you right in the soul and makes you want to move in ways you wouldn't otherwise. It's a deeply spiritual experience.
My first video of Pow Wows was exactly this one, and then Manito Abe. I don't understand a word they are singing becouse I am from South Africa.I am mixed race dad was white and my mom is black. I have learned the words and sing along with Young Spirit. I love the culture the traditions of your peaple. I also get sad when I read about how the native people of the US have been treated by the the government. It's the same almost ouver the whole world from Australia to Africa and beyond. Your drums awake something.

Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe here from Northern MN. Just wanted to say that it was great video and thank you for experiencing the culture. Keep up the channel, I've been subscribed for awhile now. It was good to see this
Good song! Cool to see someone react to our music like this, it’s all about energy, the feeling u get, there’s a lot of good groups out there different styles, languages/songs to react to. There’s another style of Native American singing called round dance or hand drum singing. Maybe u can check that out too when you get a chance. If u liked this then u would for sure like that as well. I’ll recommend Arnold Alexis of the Logan Alexis Singers🙌🏾

3:28-3:39 wanted to see this reaction.
YOUNG SPIRIT!
I love the way you felt it in your soul and couldn't explain it. Did you get chills? You should have. ❤️
This is so cool!! Check out the Northern Indigenous who throat sing - they’ll blow your mind ❤️
Throat singing would be cool
You mean Inuit.
i listen to this kind of music every day. Have done for years
Young Spirit is one of my favorite drum groups
I ❤ red rock women so beautiful 😍
If you're there in person...... you feel that drum in your soul. It vibrates your entire body.
One thing may have missed is how much the women serve these songs. Being a” back up singer” in native culture is just as important as a drummer. They balance out the song.
Such an incredible performance! A gift from Young Spirit to anyone who listens.
Thanks for bringing Indigenous music to a wider audience.
I remember growing up in high school, all of us no matter what grade we used to get together and fill the valley with this singing at night outside. I miss those days. We were a community, the kids did it for fun. It was on the Navajo Reservation. It’s in native language and you just know the song or beat from the heart. You just know the song, I don’t know how to explain it 😅
It's Beautiful, when a Beautiful Human being, gets to know Our ways. We need to always be humble...... forget about it! 💙💚✌️
Most people don't realize that Native American music is not only very diverse, but most styles of singing are more complex then Opera.
It's the drums ❤ y'all got good throats and music
Should give Cozads Champion Song a look, very powerful song
I’m not sure this lady is ready for Cozad…lol!…gotta build up for that, lol
Oh yeah!! Cozad Champion Song Is A Jammer!! Just like MNX Live At Black Hills 2019
Poundmakers tribute song to Deverne is amazing to
@@numnumm6836 that’s an advanced class, hang on there..lol! But I gotta agree with you
Kudos for playing this video native American singing and drumming is Awesome!
Dude! Two of my faves on one vid at the same time...... awesome!
Us, Native Americans are from North America and I appreciate your time looking into of our music and culture. Stay blessed and positive.
Right but remember dude before the Europeans came their were no borders
And Natives were nomadic peoples.
😊 proud native American here. Aho!
You need to hear some Fawn Wood next. She’s an amazing Native singer as well.
My tribe is host to the potawatomi gathering of the nations this weekend..I'm too excited to see a pow pow on a much larger scale than I'm used to...
It's beautiful the foot dancing and the jingle dress dance .
Young Spirit one of the Greatest Native American Singing groups ever.
Edit: glad to see people can appreciate our music.
Can't believe it has been 10 years since they performed this song. Kudos to Jacob and the Boys
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe here from Northern MN. Just wanted to say that it was great video and thank you for experiencing the culture. Keep up the channel, I've been subscribed for awhile now. It was good to see this
I’ve studied this culture and it’s music for 30 years it’s a amazing culture and the music is medicine!
Oh you mentioned one person! That’s the goal to sound as one.
As an Oglala (Lakota), this was pretty cool to watch a vocal coach check out good ol' Young Spirit. got me all hyped! 🎉
I’ll recommend Arnold Alexis of the Logan Alexis Singers🙌🏾
this is amazing and i grew up listening to this
