If only. Sadly the gamebreaking and frankly world destroying capabilities of pommel throwing would ruin this game. Hell, that's probably how this whole thing started.
This entire thing is basically a metaphor for nations fighting over resources. Each one represents their nation, while the battle represents the war between them.
2:39 I always loved this snippet and Apollyon’s line. Because it feels like a line that takes the conflict out of the game for a second and more of just what the knights, vikings, and samurai are to us now. Legends of the past, “the greatest warriors the world has ever known”. And really adds to the retrospective and somber view this whole segment of the trailer has. Along with giving its respect and badassery to each of the 3 warriors.
I liked this game. This trailer got my attention in the first place, it showed the desperation in their circumstances, this explaining why they fought for so long. It was an interesting game concept
wait.. 1000 years of war and battle.. everyone's looking for a reason for peace... you're gonna show them... by bringing war... thats some fine logic there maam.
No, she doesn't want peace so whenever they consider giving up the fighting she fucks them over so they start again. She'd probably get fucked if people stopped fighting and got along or something...
Jimmy Ramos and it's in multiplayer I think and it's really nice to finally see splitscreen again so many games are taking away one of the best features in the gaming industry hands down
Diarmuid Whelan Wisloff Yeah, I know! It's such a shame that many games opted to be online multiplayer only in recent years. I've been playing Resident Evil 5 campaign in split screen with a friend of mine and it's so much fun. And let's not forget the GoldenEye "golden" era hehe.
The strong die hard, the weak die alone, but the courageous die defiant...after taking enough enemies with them, even in the end. That is how I define "a beautiful death." What say all of you?
Apparently there were already tensions between the nations and the apocalypse didnt help. The people arent fighting over the water for 1000 years, they just hold a massive grudge.
What should have happened when the Raider was shot. Raider: *sees Apollyon* “HEY! THAT’S A KNIGHT” Kensei: *to Raider* “Hey, want to team up against the knights?” Raider: “HELL YES” The end.
...so if you let them fight it out they eventually call a truce. But if you provoke them they eventually find a common goal and fight you...how does this work out either way Apollyon?
And if you understand this: "Deus Vult!" you belong to the Crusaders. And if you understand this: "Ore wa o'chinchin ga daisuke nandayo" you belong to the Samurai.
I’m not ashamed to admit this, but this trailer makes me get teary eyed. After following and playing this game all the way from the open beta, through all the hardship and turmoil until now at Year 5, looking back on the start of this game and the memories it makes flood back. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Good God I love coming back to this trailer every once in awhile. Seeing only the three factions’ vanguards and just knowing how much the game has evolved from that. It’s been two years since the games release so here’s to another two and another and until these servers get shut down, then I won’t play but until then remember brothers we fight... FOR HONOR
I want a gamemode like this. Not like breach or anything like that but an actual faction war where the three factions fight it off in a giant battle and insted of 4v4 it would be like 10v10 or something abit smaller (just to keep it interesting), sure they would have to implement that if you choose a faction you can only play from that faction (to keep it all knights vs all Vikings vs all samurai) but it would still be cool as mabye an event or a full on gamemode
Yeah, tbh I don't like seeing just two teams, it'd be cool if when you chose a character you only fought alongside people of the same faction, because seeing a team with knights and samurai with viking minions seiging a castle makes no damn sense
I love this trailer but I love the action sequences for each warrior. Its fluid and nicely shows why they are a major badass. The end though was a tearjerker since after all the bloodshed they really contemplated whats even the point to this war.
The message isn't that they're just fighting for food and water. Yeah that's what it was at the beginning, because everyone was desperate to survive,by any means nessecary. But over who know how long, hundreds, maybe even thousands of years, they all forgot. They don't need to fight anymore, the disaster is long over, but nobody remembers that the desperate struggle to live was the reason for fighting, they fight, because they simply don't know how to do anything else. Every single time they all started to grow tired, try and find some way to end the conflict, something would always come along and rekindle their unexplainable, millennia old hatred for each other
They began fighting because they felt like it was the easiest way to live, raiding and pillaging meant you could have more territory and more resources
1:37 They realized that the sword in the recent year 8 season 1 trailer looks exactly like the one in this one. They've been planning this a long time.
It was good. It was great. Then they just did what they always do. Overbalance and update everything too much. The game was perfect They should've just focused on adding new executions and cosmetics and gamemodes. Not all this
afrer long yrs of studying IR, I find this trailer rly worth of some important lesson. Sometimes ppl, wars are gone through forgotten reason as the time passes.
There’s something beautiful about the scene where Apollo says, “so began a millennia of conflict” and the camera kinda spins and you see the soldiers fighting, and the tree growing. It’s just beautiful.

The sad fact is how long until we maintain that peace...
You had your answer not too long ago with Russia.
@@Waggendaily and earlier than that with U.S and what it did nad is still doing to iraq , syria and many more
@@imaddjilali7610 yeah and when the U.S. stops Russia and china will take it's place. As in they will become America they will become britian they will colonise and war with everyone for there recorcess untill they bleed them dry.
@@Demicleas yep no world power is innocent
It is all worth it in the end
Even though the game has changed so much this trailer will always remain one of my favorites
Can the knights unscrew their pommels and end the enemy rightly?
hehehe
lets hope they can
They would if skall was the game designer
If only. Sadly the gamebreaking and frankly world destroying capabilities of pommel throwing would ruin this game. Hell, that's probably how this whole thing started.
hahahah yeah i mean they need to have an execution for that
Anyone coming back here after the announcement of the Unsung Warden?
Yup🙇🏿♂️
Yes
I really hate how people think this is whole war is about water
Jack Robinson Nobody actually thinks that. They are making stupid jokes to be funny
😂 Exactly
You must really be fun at parties
It’s actually about bud lite
This entire thing is basically a metaphor for nations fighting over resources. Each one represents their nation, while the battle represents the war between them.
2017!? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!! I"VE ALREADY BEEN WAITING OVER A YEAR!!
rip
average game development is 3-4 years
Same. Fucking losing sleep replying to damn youtube comments.
+WarlordBaconhammer then they shouldn't have announced it so early.
Now they have a campaign
2:39 I always loved this snippet and Apollyon’s line. Because it feels like a line that takes the conflict out of the game for a second and more of just what the knights, vikings, and samurai are to us now. Legends of the past, “the greatest warriors the world has ever known”. And really adds to the retrospective and somber view this whole segment of the trailer has. Along with giving its respect and badassery to each of the 3 warriors.
2ho else thought that arrow was about to go in his knee
and used to be an adeventurer like you.
+Miss Yumi haha I get it.
a skyrim reference! :D
internet is filled with so Much sarcasm. I don't what's real
Мне нравится ваш юмор!
I missed that
BAZONGA :DDDDDD
Watching this in 2018, this trailer still is beautiful and gets me hyped
I liked this game. This trailer got my attention in the first place, it showed the desperation in their circumstances, this explaining why they fought for so long. It was an interesting game concept
Love how all the knights were just wandering around doing their shopping in full armour when the doom hit.
2:45 raider sounds like a giant ,i love it
The power of Joutnar is with him!
@@RealSkutti yes😎
This trailer brings back memories when I used to play this game
game trailers now are much better than any movie u see!
1:34 Oh watch this, she's gonna do a superhero landing. SUPERHERO LANDING!!!
Did the developers just watch dead pool before making this trailer?
Broken knees
I Like The music
They most likely have broken legs or broken knees now
Random Guy: This game is stupid the history is all wrong
Me: IT'S A VIDEO GAME!
Tyler Butler yea its just a video game ok
Tyler Butler it's only a game, y u heff 3 be mad?
@@amandag.6186 Overwatch reference???
@@smack6357 no just a random dead meem
That doesn't excuse historical inaccuracies in a game trying to be accurate, which this one clearly isn't.
When sharing wasnt put in the dictionary
At 2:08 the Warden has to fight the other 2 at the same time, yet still holds her own. I'm impressed.
When you parry 2 attacks when your in a 2v1
wait.. 1000 years of war and battle.. everyone's looking for a reason for peace... you're gonna show them... by bringing war...
thats some fine logic there maam.
lol she is saying that she won’t let them find peace
Maybe the only way they can defeat her is uniting?
+Jorge Quiroz yes it is, finally the viking, knight, and samurai will join their force to defeat apollyon.
Yeah just like US policy
No, she doesn't want peace so whenever they consider giving up the fighting she fucks them over so they start again.
She'd probably get fucked if people stopped fighting and got along or something...
So... Single player campaign confirmed?
plus split screen co op :)
Diarmuid Whelan Wisloff Really? Awesome!
Humankind in a nutshell.
Man this trailer today gives me the chills the quote "the greatest warriors the world has ever known" alone give me the most chills
ps4: samurais
xbox: knights
pc: vikings
a true thousand years of war lol
I think XBox would actually Be Apollyon, fucking XBox always brings war
PC gamers should be appollyon they hate all of the console gamers :I
Pic need to be Apollyon considering they think they're better than everyone and starts up crap so
Actually here's how it goes Wii: Samurai, Xbox: Vikings, Ps4: Knights and Pc: Appollyon.
Nick Brannan No, Wii doesn't get to be anything, it's not worthy of any warrior legacy
The strong die hard, the weak die alone, but the courageous die defiant...after taking enough enemies with them, even in the end. That is how I define "a beautiful death." What say all of you?
Whoah... I just... wow...
Liam Konkle
Deep shit, ain't it?
DW_Nox balls deep
I say we all die. All that matters is how, and what we leave behind.
But Standing upon thousands of dead allies and foes I ask you to ask your God "Does Honor really matter?" I did and the Silence of wind was my Answer
Just share the dang water..
maybe they were scouts for a small village(more soldier joint the fight later) and tough there wasn`t enough water for 3 small villages.
Aye, it's a damned spring, there's enough for everyone.
Aagerds Exactly!
Apparently there were already tensions between the nations and the apocalypse didnt help. The people arent fighting over the water for 1000 years, they just hold a massive grudge.
I feel like you're not smart
I still love this game to this day it holds a special place in my memory
They don't fight just for water... They fight for Fiji water 💦 FOR HONORRR!!!
PizzaWarrior2013 Underrated comment
@@CraziChris agreed
Hahaha i'm dying so funny
3:19 the way that samurai bow his head was making me sad, he seems dont want to kill an enemy out of his need.
What should have happened when the Raider was shot.
Raider: *sees Apollyon* “HEY! THAT’S A KNIGHT”
Kensei: *to Raider* “Hey, want to team up against the knights?”
Raider: “HELL YES”
The end.

The music and the cinematic work are just amazing
All these years later and the For Honor trailers are still amazing.
this gives me shivers everytime, well put together
Me to me to
This trailer planted on my head. I dont play this game but i always remember how epic it is first time watching it
It would really completely satisfied me if they have spartans on it ...
its called FOR HONOR not FOR SPARTA
***** they have a knight,a samurai and a viking at the same time fighting for a millenium .. none of this make sense
jimmy pooler so spartans doesnt have honor ? huh .. that's new ..
Well we can all dream dammit!
the chose 3 great warrior but notice the tech is relatively similar iron steel not bronze and some iron
...so if you let them fight it out they eventually call a truce. But if you provoke them they eventually find a common goal and fight you...how does this work out either way Apollyon?
White shadow...
I bring war... Not plans....
She Wants War. That's it, War has no plans.
The fuck are you blabbing on about kid?
A DAMN WOMAN THAT WAS BORN A MAN, OR A MAN BORN A WOMAN.
the last mission definitely would be the union of the samurais, crusaders and vikings versus Apollyion
if I have a horror of calligraphy, sorry, I'm from Argentina
No it wont, they say afterwards is when multiplayer battle begins so well... the war never ends.
+Imperial Knight
thanks?
Why the question mark?.
Still one of the greatest Video Game trailers in Gaming Industry
You know when a Viking gets more shirtless and skin, you're screwed in combat
why?
okedoke1234 True
Because We Viking are manly!
TheReal Craig toxic 10 year old
@Paveen cringe
The glory days of For Honor are like it says in this trailer "lost to the ages."
Amazing trailer, almost felt like I was fighting for my life as well
If you understand what this means
"Hei, jeg er en viking"
you belong to the vikings
Nope
Kamen Dimitri Hi, I'm a viking
- Norwegian
And yes, I choose the vikings
Kamen Dimitri PERKELE FOR THE NORTHERNLANDS
Dont even speak norwegian and i understood that... Damn it's close to swedish.
Viking started it.
I blame the Japanese
+M28tan i blame the english

+Lalhmingmawia Hmar I blame Trump.
The music sounded kinda like the Gandalf Helms Deep charge
Glad to say this aged incredibly well
Absolutely, being able to do this in game is so badass I cannot
A 4v4v4 dominion mode with 4 points would be pretty cool, although queue times would be insane after the hype dies off
Yeah, tbh I don't like seeing just two teams, it'd be cool if when you chose a character you only fought alongside people of the same faction, because seeing a team with knights and samurai with viking minions seiging a castle makes no damn sense
New world war.
I love this trailer but I love the action sequences for each warrior. Its fluid and nicely shows why they are a major badass. The end though was a tearjerker since after all the bloodshed they really contemplated whats even the point to this war.
New update bringing it back around
“The Greatest Warriors the wolrd has Ever know “ I've seen guys who fight too well and this phrase reminds me of them with much respect.
2:07 to 3:07 is the hardest part of this trailer
I wish the game was as good as they hyped it up to be back then
I've watched it over and over thru the years and that part just hits. Ubisoft, if anything, really makes some damn good trailer
It was good. It was great. Then they just did what they always do. Overbalance and update everything too much. The game was perfect
They should've just focused on adding new executions and cosmetics and gamemodes. Not all this
This game is probably one of Ubisofts best
I miss how simple this game used to be
Easily one of the hardest game trailers I've ever seen tbh
10/10
wait this game is going to have a campaign or what ?! even better :D
Yeah there's a video on it too
fr tho im so excited 😜
I wonder if there are multiple campaigns, one for each civilization.
+Shadow Marine itd be dope as a Samurai if you got to kill Ninjas lol

This trailer goes from 0:11 peaceful wheat to everyone getting their ass kicked in about 50 seconds.
it's like skyrim with swords
Hell no skyrim is no skill you just bash the RT button
haha true it's not even fun to the point where u use mods/graphic mods just to explore
Skyrim didn't have swords??
what decent person would use swords in skyrim? Heavy as fuck, and always need upgrades. Magic for life bro.
Marsupilami In the difficulty I play (master), you usually can't use magic (as a main) because your mana would just be too low
"Wow!
Wow!
Wow!" - raider after the arrow hit him
afrer long yrs of studying IR, I find this trailer rly worth of some important lesson. Sometimes ppl, wars are gone through forgotten reason as the time passes.
"A thousand years of war " MAN that felt good
