The craziest thing for me that was said about Apollyon that might be true, is that Apollyon could have easily defeated the emperors champion. Or maybe it would've been an even fight. But it would still lead to the same conclusion, which is Apollyon winning. But Apollyon chose to lose, cause once she's dead, the reason why everyone is here is basically gone... So what are these 3 factions, which have literal centuries of bad blood between them and at this very moment, are tensed, angry and are ready for fight going to do next? I can't believe I'm saying this but she in a way became a martyr... a martyr of war. FUCKING BRILLIANT STORY WRITING!

Imagine you fought wars your whole life and let one village get torched. Then in your twilight years the sole survivor from a village you failed dragged you out of your home and slayed you. That’s crazy man. She’s so cool.
Appolyon to my favorite villain solely for the fact of she is evil, there is no ulterior motive. There is no I’m sad and you should feel sad for me. This is just who she is and I love it.
She’s more comparable to an Anti-Villain like Thanos is. Commits evil for the greater good which is to get the strong back in power to be able to protect the weak majority population and future generations from being slaughtered due to weak leadership.

I might be the only one who'd actually want peace in for honor. Truce of Wyverndale made me happy for the characters, ofc it didn't change gameplay I wouldn't want that. But lore wise where large factions stop killing each other. They could use it as a way to rework the war map.
One interesting aspect I noticed with Apollyon is her desire to preserve and learn from the past . She seems to show distain for thing left to rot and decay , and while she calls leaving the decorations form previous owners on her castle as trophies her actions speak otherwise
Apollyon and The Lich from Adventure Time are my 2 favorite villains of all fiction because theyre just kinda evil, there isnt really a good side to them they have a goal and pursue is ruthlessly.
Apollyons character is much like the Joker in The Dark Knight. she’s an Agent of Chaos. To quote Alfred “Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

The video that not only got me interested in the game (though I've never played it), but in your channel as well. I also wanted to add my two cents on Apollyon's view of peace: I believe that prolonged peace eventually breeds complacency and laziness.
5:36 Such an interesting scene, I love it. Only issue, is... Sword. thru. plate. The bane of my existence. No matter how cool, how accurate, or how realistic a story makes swords and armor, it always seems to forget that armor isnt made out of cardboard
Bring back the old intro Raven. It's so chilling yet amazing at the same time. Their was so much uniqueness to it I honestly don't see other creator's do.
Apollyon is The Dark Knight version of the Joker (incidentally, there's a very plausible theory that he too is a broken trauma survivor, perhaps a veteran, trying to justify to himself what happened.) "These, 'civilized people? They'll eat each other." Now, I can certainly see the Major comparison, but I think Heath Ledger's portrayal is closer to the heart of the matter. Is Apollyon right? She has to constantly kill people who prove her wrong. She has to say, "everyone's a wolf or a sheep. What, you prove otherwise? Well you don't count." STAB Apollyon doesn't even know what a wolf is. Wolves spend most of their time in their packs, with their families. They hunt what they need to live, then call it a day. Violence is not their universal state of being. Nor can it be for humans. It takes a decade and a half to prepare a human combatant and only seconds to kill them. Peace has to be the default state or there are no people to fight at all. Nothing about her makes sense from a thinking point of view. She's not here to challenge our beliefs. She's someone that broke under the realities of a flawed world and is out to ruin everything.
I disagree. Apollyon was 100% right. Who does she kill who proves her wrong? Her philosophy is: There are wolves; the strong, who fight and kill as true warriors. Then there are sheep, the weak who are trampled and devoured by the strong. Who proves her wrong? In her entire story what character stepped forward to prove her wrong? Remember when she captured the remnants of the Iron Legion? Only two Iron Legion soldiers attacked her, she spared them because she saw them as wolves. The rest did nothing but wait to die...and she killed them because only sheep wait for their own death. No one proved her wrong. You're now discussing the nature of wolves vs Apollyon's analogy. Yes, wolves hunt in packs and they live for a family dynamic, but the analogy is not the nature of wolves, the analogy is wolf vs sheep. The sheep are weaker than the wolves. They are preyed on by the wolves. That was the point. Everything about her makes sense...I explained her philosophy in my video.
@@RavenKnightYT I'm puzzled you would say she is 100% right when you offered refutation of her notions in your own video, for instance, when you discussed the combatant to support non-combatant ratio that makes war possible. Or at the end when you suggested (I think, quite rightly) that her whole "philosophy" is just rationalizing her trauma. As for people she needed to remove to make people actually engage in kill-or-be-killed, predator or prey, there's a fair few she needed to kill and some she did. 1. The previous warlords of the Blackstones she thought were too soft. 2. All the other Legions in Ashfeld (outside of those that joined, obviously) 3. Jarl Gudmundr Branson and his men, entrusted by the other Jarls of Valkenheim to safeguard their supplies and seeds for the next year's planting in his fortress for the common good. 4. The Raider and their allies, who restore order, reunite their people and set to sorting their food problems. 5. Most of the Dawn Empire's Daimyos who stood by their ordered hierarchy and loyalty to their emperor and had to be stormed, first by the Vikings then by the Blackstones and killed off until only the most selfish scoundrels remained and said they would do what she wanted. Yes, she had them on their knees, but it doesn't matter. Even if they were on their feet, trying to bite her throat out, what she claims to approve of, she would still have killed them off because they wanted to unite and keep order in the land. 6. The Warden/Ayu/The Orochi that each rallied the survivors of Apollyon's purges in their respective lands and restored internal order. By the time Apollyon falls, the three nations (if that's the right word for them, perhaps factions?) are at war, but they are also reunified internally, protecting their own civilians, maintaining their own infrastructure and keeping their own internal peace, rejecting her false dichotomy. You are quite right to say she makes sense, but what she says doesn't. Combining your commentary with my own thoughts, she has no room in her binary madness for civilian support, tradesmen, mothers, teachers, children or any of the other parts of humanity that enable the species to keep existing. That last part is most critical. Her world has no room for children. That's what I meant about the fifteen years to make a combatant. In order to have her wolves, the wolves would need to, bare minimum, set aside war for anywhere from 1 1/2 - 2 decades to raise new wolves or have a population of "sheep" actively protected by the wolves raising the new wolves for them. In which case, the wolves aren't treating those "sheep" as prey, but protected, valuable kin that still aren't wolves. Either her binary breaks down or humanity breaks down. Anyway, thanks for the video and response. It was fun to revisit one of those villains who "just want to watch the world burn."
