Almost half an hour into the video. Jon has said the word "rat" so often that it doesn't even sound like a real word anymore. So far there was not. a. single. rat. in sight. Not one. I feel cheated. Edit: nevermind. There are, indeed, rats.
Seriously. Like, I get the idea of "'I think you get the point,' this is the first X% of this game, it's good, go play it," but, like, a. I'm not going to for a variety of time/ system/ energy/ etc. reasons, and b. I watch videos/channels like this not just to see the game but also for the commentary. I'd love it if Jon did more full playthroughs of games rather than the "I think you get the point" thing.
@@slartimus I wonder if he does it out of caution more than anything. Narrative game studios have had a contentious relationship with streamers and youtubers in the past. Seeing as showing off the entire game gives away half the point of the game for free.
19:15 "You get four shots to knock down as many cups as you can!" yet on screen it says cubes, and the graphic are cubes. Looks like some redesigns slipped through recording.
The way the atmosphere in this game is done is simply outstanding. The moment Alicia and Hugo entered the castle, just the sight of the castle grounds made me feel slightly uneasy.
I hadn't seen your videos on the first game, so I went back and watched them. This game/series looks super interesting, but possibly too mechanically complex for me to handle. I might look into giving it a shot, but I'm definitely joining the chorus of people wishing you had time in your schedule/life to serialize this! You're absolutely right, the game is gorgeous.
If you have gamepass can give it a shot without any cost to you. Just mentioning that since you said you might give it a shot and better to do that with no additional cost.
Jon: this game is set in a city in Provence, and the Arles Ampitheatre was in Provence, and was built by engineers inspired by the Colosseum. Its still standing, and, while i can't find any info about it having elevators, it could have done, and probably did have elephant battles. Arles was one of the biggest Roman provincial cities in Gaul. Thought you'd like to know 👍
32:15 Maybe not so far fetched for a town's amphitheatre to have an elevator capable of carrying an elephant into the arena. Provence and Aquitaine were really prosperous in the Empire and spending on an impressive arena would have provided the "wow!" factor that was an element of competition within the elites of the city and competition with the other settlements in the province and the Empire. Social competition was all one about upmanship both within a town's social elite and other municipalities. The more valid criticism is that it would be still in working order.
You, Jon. Are why I got Plague Tale: Innocence and I loved it. Been playing the 2nd game anticipating your new LP where I can enjoy segments I've done through your eyes. I've been playing this on the PS5 and I love the Haptic Feedback with the Rats. It's uncomfortable in a good way.
"Give it five minutes, there's going to be death, suffering, tidal wave of rats, okay, you just bloody wait." Wow, he wasn't kidding. Five minutes after he says this in the video, there's been three attempted murders, one successful murder, and one non-murdery self defence stabbing.
As much as I like experiencing games by myself, I don't think I'll have a computer good enough to handle this kind of game anytime soon so I'd love a full playthrough from you which would be the next best thing. I'm thankful I can play Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but modern stuff is a no go unless it's something like Peglin.
I'm playing on a 3070ti and yeah this game is very demanding/unopitmised. It is a beautiful game but I feel a little bit more optimisation could have happened
I love the original game. The voice acting is top notch, the mood and atmosphere is powerful and immersive, the musicians that worked on this game are amazing. There's something very special about Asobo Studio. For those that haven't heard, there's a TV series being made. (Unfortunately, I can't buy the game now because I'm an American living in Russia) If anyone from Asobo Studio is reading this, you guys are awesome!
i wrote a plague tale: innocence off when it first came out as it didnt seem like my kind of game but after watching this im definitely gonna give these games a go
Either this game or this video in particular are cursed. About three quarters of the way through, right in the middle of the rat plague stuff, I glanced up and there was a mouse, happy as you please, hanging out on the top of my door frame. I stared at it for about 10 seconds, trying to figure out whether the video's subject matter was making me hallucinate. Nope. Turns out the little bastards had tunnelled in where the door frame doesn't quite meet the wall (slumlords are so good with building standards - sigh). One rushed trip to the hardware store and two rolls of steel wool to block the rodents later... I finally got to finish watching the video about pretend rodents. Cursed, I tell you!
How do you feel about Plague Tale 1's strange obsession with forcing you to get rid of light sources when anybody in that situation would be able to keep the torches?
What instantly puts me off is the constant self-(player) nagging and pushyness ... we must move on"..."no time to waste"... Devs seem to love doing that. The game is linear enough that i don't need constant, annoying reminders.
jon: happy about the rat apocalypse waves and not bothered at all game: and here's an elevator jon: *bothered enough to have to stop and point out that it could never be true and he doesn't approve* me: it's only game, why you have to be mad? but seriously jon, I don't think tat one was necessary, I doubt anybody thought that "elephant elevators" in the game were real back in the day, plus you often praise games for things that a classicist would dislike or immediately reject, just a bit confusing
Hugo's voice acting is and sounds so bad i thought it was some 40yr old man or woman doing the voice because it usually always sounds so forced and unnatural, then i looked it up and saw that it was an actual child...oh dear.
Okay, the game looks great, but *who the heck* was in charge of the model design on the phoenix-bird? Feathers DO NOT look like that, wings and tail-feather DON'T MOVE like that, and it's proportioned like a chicken that's been hitting the gym, rather than a flight bird. Seriously, from the first little cut-scene with it, I couldn't unsee how badly it is done.
Almost half an hour into the video. Jon has said the word "rat" so often that it doesn't even sound like a real word anymore. So far there was not. a. single. rat. in sight. Not one. I feel cheated.
Edit: nevermind. There are, indeed, rats.
Please do a playthrough of this game Jon. It seems pretty outstanding. Love the relationship of the kids. Thanks for showing it to us.

This channel is my happy place, appreciate you Jon & Claire

That cutaway at 18:36 is just awesome. I appreciate it so much
It genuinely made me laugh!🤣
Jon - "This is the only game with rat physics!"
*sad Dishonored noises*
26:43 Funny that the guard mentions "Not a coin" just after Jon throws a rock for distraction. Just like Hitman throwing coins for distraction!
When Magister Vaudin goes into Hugo's bedroom to "treat" him, it very much has a The Exorcist vibe and look.
Very appropriate for this time of year.
“Hmmm you dirty raaat, you killed my father, you dirty raaaat”. Never get tired of that quote lol 😂

13:43 "My sling, still in the cart."
Jon: Oh no, I don't have the right sort of ammo for my sling. XD
Can’t believe you didn’t call the episode Return Of The Macula
To be fair many people would not know what that word means.
This feels like a medieval version 28 weeks later
gotta say that the voice acting is top notch
Amicia: "My sling, it's still in the cart"
Jon: "I need some rocks for my sling!"
Never change Jon
As someone who has never seen a video game before, this looks amazing
The music in this series is so hauntingly beautiful
"I love the corpse pile section" - Jon, 20/10/2022
I really, really hope we get this as a series. I'm fascinated to see where this goes.
I love how this game touched on the assault.
Jon: this game is set in a city in Provence, and the Arles Ampitheatre was in Provence, and was built by engineers inspired by the Colosseum. Its still standing, and, while i can't find any info about it having elevators, it could have done, and probably did have elephant battles. Thought you'd like to know 👍
Completes series you say? Okay, fine, if you say so Jon.
Sadly, no :(
fellas be like
"i have my whole life ahead of me"
no you don't, the rats are coming
Not saying how long that life is...
the rats have been on the way since the beginning, no reason 2 run. youll just die tired whilst being consumed.
A plague tale: innocence are some of my favourite videos, I’m so excited to see this one!!!

Jon, with happiness "meeting a duck"
The songs, the costumes, the eventual fire-wracked calamity--just like Ren Faire.
I hope Jon will make more videos for this game. Really enjoy watching him play.
"The only game with rat physics". Umm, Jon, "Dishonored"?
Your first video made me play through the first one and I had an absolute blast. I got this one day one and it's been so fun so far
ooooh this has been amazing Jon. The narative is beautiful.. Thanks for showing me this game :)

Did we bring it here? It's been hours, I don't think plague works that fast
As much as I like experiencing games by myself, I don't think I'll have a computer good enough to handle this kind of game anytime soon so I'd love a full playthrough from you which would be the next best thing. Forget the elephant, the planet puzzle, apart from the sun,I don't think any of them planets were known about in 1349
"It's a fake stealth section with rats in it"
The superior stealth section.
I put the odds that Alicia gets to see the credits at basically nil.

11:29 Hey, you! You're finally awake.
Yup, I'm gonna have to get this game! Fantastic 😃
I think the arena is meant to be something leftover from roman times? Like the Arena of Nimes?
This desperately needs a long play by Jon
Small arena? There was an entire town in there
45:47 you can hear a cut between "the" and "other" in "It's at the other end of the butcher's district,". 2/10 literally unplayable.
I feel really sad for that single horse attempting to draw that heavy ox wagon.
This game is far too gorgeous for its title!
i wrote a plague tale: innocence off when it first came out as it didnt seem like my kind of game but after watching this im definitely gonna give these games a go
This reminds me of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. I'm fairly sure that game traumatised child me
7 chapters in so far, and already think it's better than the first.
Dunno why everyone's turned British though.
makes for a better listening instead of trying to understand half French/English accent probably
The original, 3 yrs old, is currently on steam for £35!!
Are the piles of sticks one use only, or is Jon just exited to use the new tools and waste the resouces?
SPOILER!!!!!!
I really wanna see Jon's reaction to Hugo's death.
Same here.

Alternative title: The sudden but inevitable plague cleansing fires.
"A plague on all your mouses"
Basic gameplay stunning visuals, meh its a good movie might buy eventually.
It would have been a remnant of a Roman elevator, presumably.
Yep. It's set in Provence, and Arles in Provence has a pretty big Roman-era ampitheatre that probably had elevators when it was first built.
is this going to be a series?
Full play through would be nice:)
Jon, I really wish you'd keep playing.
We want more!!!
first game has nothing on this one for darkness, hope jon plays through it at some point
A Plague Tale: Rata2e
would watch you play it on a chill live stream
How do you feel about Plague Tale 1's strange obsession with forcing you to get rid of light sources when anybody in that situation would be able to keep the torches?
Dishonored had rat physics
Memories broken
Plague Tale Inacess would be proud.
this game looks awesome!
Yes please!
Slightly embarrassed that I know this, but Assassins Creed Valhalla also has rat physics. They're in the Paris DLC.
Correction: AC Valhalla also has rat physics.
What instantly puts me off is the constant self-(player) nagging and pushyness ... we must move on"..."no time to waste"... Devs seem to love doing that. The game is linear enough that i don't need constant, annoying reminders.
Isn't der a 1980s film called ratboy
Bees. My God.
Day 857 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. Ah, dealing with a plague. Nothing like escapism at the end of the day.
Several elements of this game strongly remind me of The Last of Us 2...Are they related?
Play through pretty please!!?
jon: happy about the rat apocalypse waves and not bothered at all
game: and here's an elevator
jon: *bothered enough to have to stop and point out that it could never be true and he doesn't approve*
me: it's only game, why you have to be mad? but seriously jon, I don't think tat one was necessary, I doubt anybody thought that "elephant elevators" in the game were real back in the day, plus you often praise games for things that a classicist would dislike or immediately reject, just a bit confusing
Kit Connor ❤️
The whole magical-power-backstory at the end of the first game totally ruined it for me. I was so excited for a game without magic and ex-machinas.
Where did their French accents go?
Love being early
Playing this and not Witcher III. Tisk Tisk.
Just one thing.. aren't they in France? Everybody speaks English.... funny that... 😄
This game looks weird. The girl is cool though.
Weird? In what way?
I forgot just how annoying his voice is. HAHA
Hugo's voice acting is and sounds so bad i thought it was some 40yr old man or woman doing the voice because it usually always sounds so forced and unnatural, then i looked it up and saw that it was an actual child...oh dear.
Gata stop watching sorry I want to play the game not watch instead I’ll watch a older vid of yours sorry again
Ngl the facial animations are really lacking compared to how breathtaking the rest of the game looks, it's pretty distracting
Okay, the game looks great, but *who the heck* was in charge of the model design on the phoenix-bird?
