I live in a small town in Florida which lies at the intersection of lots of train lines, it is a major hub for American train spotters with at least a couple of dedicated 24/7 railfan livestreams. You cannot live anywhere close to town without hearing passing train whistles periodically all day. It is a dark, cool, rainy/foggy Thursday and I'm watching the new MATN video that just dropped, and the distinctive rumble/whistle comes, not from the computer speakers, but from behind me out the window. Never has an MATN video been more disconcertingly immersive.
I have to say up to 6:51 this was really building for a tense and scary atmosphere but I absolutely couldn’t help myself laughing after Charles fully embedded and noclipped himself stuck into Jon and his train 😭
@@gnaskar disagree! sometimes, i find, a laugh can unexpectedly break up the built tension, in a similar way to a jump-scare can. but that's just me? i guess i just love to laugh ^__^

The rocket launcher does splash damage to everything including you. Using it like a shotgun may not have been the intended purpose, but you and your -1 perception stat made it work. Kudos.
The character and world design is very reminiscent of both the Thomas tv show and books. The drawn on detailing on trains, chests, houses etc is straight out of the early Rev W Awdry books. The lack of lip sync is also in the style of the TV show. C'mon Jon, that is our generation, you should know that stuff.
co-op kills most horror atmosphere and adds development time requires networking expertise, relies on a server being online even for peer2peer you need a master server and while quake has one going on 20+ years it is an outlier most die in a few years tops. not everything needs to be a live service.

And obviously it would likely require agreements, and maybe extra developers to implement an online play version of this game. I can't imagine more than hundreds to a couple thousand playing this type of game at a time online.. Not a daily play-through type of game. More of a novelty.

I watched the development posts for this game, it was quite scary some of the previous Ai versions charles had edit: yeah charles has an Ai that actually hunts you, obviously he has to let you go at some point but that wasn't always the case. And the point where he'd leave you was incredibly scary

Now would be a good time for someone to explain to me why all British men seem predisposed towards liking trains, with an increasing likelihood as they age. Is it the overabundance of rain making abnormally interested in vehicles which produce what appear to be small clouds?
I expected this to be another dumb meme game. It's seems reasonably well made. It's a bit simple and absurd but there's definitely thought put into it.
I'm more than a trifle surprised that it gave you an apparently good ending. I was at least 50-50 on the possibility of the locals betraying you and letting both you and Charles plunge into the canyon in order to save themselves. Possibly with an outro where Charles' face looms over you and one glowing eye snaps open.
You almost achieved greatness by completing your arsenal of spider train killing monsters, and you went and decided all you needed was a rocket launcher...and while yeah its cool, it would have been nice at least to see what the final weapon was. What if it was a gatling mini nuke launcher?
If the developers are to lazy for mouth movement, simple solution: Charles emmits deadly particles which can be filtered out with a mask. Boom, problem solved. And with the stupid pandemic, probably no one would mind that.
If you have to invest all the scaps to repair the train every encounter, wouldn't it be much better just to let him "kill" you, repair just once (or just dont') and save the scrap for upgrades? I didn't saw you get punished for "dying".
Watched this on another channel first and it's obviously a bad game but for some reason it's really fun to watch. Excited to see how Jon deals with this

I appreciate the game is really trying and is better than what I initially thought of another kids horror game like Hello Neighbor or Poppy’s Playtime that only exists to sell merch. But I’m sorry I just can’t help start laughing whenever people say the name “Charles.” Because that’s not a creepy kind of innocent name, it just reminds me of that bit in Holy Grail where the wizard says “They call me…. Tim.” Maybe if someone makes a mod that puts King Charles face on the front and I might be scared then

Tbh that is a better ending scenario than the one in the game (there is slightly more after that final battle).

It's slow firing, does a bunch of damage, but unlike the rocket launcher, it doesn't damage you if up close to the target.
