I got in trouble the other day at the Ambulatory Care Centre in Hamad Medical City for not having long pants. They were long shorts covering knees but still not allowed. Security were nice enough to let me in this time so I could keep my appointment. I honestly didn’t realise this applied for hospitals.

Is it appropriate for a foreigner (and non-Muslim) to greet people in Qatar using "As-salaam 'alykum" or just "As-salaam?" I'll be traveling to Doha for business in a few weeks and will be attending several meetings with our business partners in the area. I was always under the impression that this was only a greeting between people of the Muslim faith.
