A few years ago I had an IUD put in, the OBGYN “nicked my cervix” there was blood all over the floor, my gown.. down to my ankles. She said I could GO TO WORK.. so I wiped myself down. And then when I was driving home in pain, my uterus started to reject the IUD. I was having contractions. Actual LABOR.
I was luckily close to my moms work. I pulled up and she moved me to the back and drove me straight to the ER, where they removed it.

The first time I got an IUD I had told them that I was very sensitive down there and asked if should I take something. They said to take a Tylenol, so I took two Pamprin. The pain was so excruciating that I blacked out and they sent me to the hospital. After a long fight on payment for the whole mess, I reported the gyno who did the procedure. Nothing ever came of it and they were still saying you only need to take one Tylenol for an IUD. I am still traumatized by feeling fisted and then waking up in an ambulance.

When I was 21 and pregnancy was still considered a pre-existing condition I had to have my first born on medicaid and I got my IUD put in at the free clinic after he was born. Within a couple of weeks I couldn't stand up to walk I had to walk at a 90° angle and tiptoe. It was so painful, so I finally went in there to remove it. The female Doctor that removed the IUD said very rudely to me, you know these aren't free right? Somebody has to pay for this! I told her I am aware of that but I can not walk, something is wrong and this needed to be removed.

I know how she feels. That procedure hurt SO bad!! I had tears running down my face and was clearly in absolute agony, but the doc was completely cold, as was the nurse there. I balled my eyes out right after, and they just looked at me with blank faces, told me to get dressed, and left the room. I got dressed and didn't even check out. I was very upset and just wanted to get the hell out of there and go home. I cried all the way. I was seriously traumatized, and just thinking about it, 10+ years later, gives me anxiety. Thank you for speaking up about this. ❤

I got my IUD implant done while awake and just some Tylenol a few hours before. I was in so much pain but was still the whole time and just talked to the aid about my cat. Once it was done, I was told I could go on free and be okay. Just some small cramping is normal.
I got home and was on the ground sobbing from the pain. My Dad had to help me to bed, and I called out of work the following day.
In some way, I felt ... violated. That the "small pressure" and "small cramps" were non-existent and I was lied to just so it was easy on them. I will never forget that day. I changed my doctor and she now is very kind and upfront.

I had a cervical stitch when I was pregnant with my second child. It was done in the hospital by my surgeon.
When it was time to remove it, I was booked into the gynaecologist to have it removed in his office with no pain meds. Told me the surgeon had drawn a picture of where to locate the stitch and it should be relatively pain-free.
Well, I screamed the office down, and I clawed the seat until I couldn’t take it anymore. All while being heavily pregnant.
Eventually, they decided to book me into surgery to remove it with a blocker for pain meds. It was all over within seconds, with no pain obviously and stress-free. He apologised after and said that the stitch was not quite where he had been told it was and that was why it was painful.
I will never forget it. Such a vulnerable place to feel that kind of pain.

That has been my experience. The lady Gyn had a stoney exterior. I couldn't be understood around that office. Without doing an exam, she stepped in the door, said " it all has to go" and left me sitting there. I went home with a ton of questions,so I did a follow up where I asked about options. All of it would tell them something else and would be painful and would only put off the inevitable, but at least I knew WHY.
      In 2007, I had a radical hysterectomy and I don't miss flowing 24/7. But a little compassion would've gone a long , long way !.
Glad I just did that instead of having them pick at me from then on. And all that couldn't remove my tumor. But in time, the tumor may have gone cancerous. It had already turned dark.

For months they complained of severe pain. But they were all dismissed, ignored and told that they were given the maximum dose, until one day when an anesthesiologist noticed a loose cap on a vial of the painkillers. I believe a nurse was stealing it and swapping it with saline solution.

Thank you for being our advocate. Hysterectomy 2011. My gyn, female, knew I was in recovery (opioids) long before my procedure. After procedure back in my room she actually said to me when discussing discharge ‘I’m sending you home with pain meds (it was Percocet) then said boldly “and don’t ask for a refill”. After my follow up office visit she cleared me and at that point I could return to work. I never went back to her.

I nearly passed out trying to get up after a colposcopy that I PERSONALLY found extremely painful. A month later a female friend had no pain from HER colposcopy...are our nerves different? I have no idea, but I stopped GYN care when I went through premature menopause at 35. His first words: " how does it feel to be an old lady?", when delivering the news that my menopause was actually OVER at 35... I have HATED 2 of my gyns and at 60 something, I will NEVER EVER go back. Retired RN with zero problems leaving this "care" behind.

I can't remember the specific name but you don't feel anything but are still somewhat aware of what's going on. Its completely different from what they're talking about in the video. I've been too multiple colonoscopies with two different family members and have never seen them done unmedicated. What they're talking about in the video is a biopsy of the cervix which they don't medicate for. I had one done when I was 20 and pregnant with my first child. Thankfully for me it was painful but manageable. I had a problem with how it was done though. Mine was done at my local hospital which is a teaching hospital. The doctor asked if a student could observe and despite feeling uncomfortable about it, I said yes. Instead of one student coming in, 5 students came in, 3 men and 2 women. They all stood at the foot of my bed while I laid there spread eagle naked from the waist down. They took turns looking through the microscope before and after the biopsy. They then stood there discussing my cervix and me as if I wasn't even in the room. During the discussions they would glance at my vagina even when nothing was being done. It was mortifying. It made me not trust them but unfortunately they were the only option to go t for my oregnancy.

I got told DURING this procedure by a female doctor, WHILE there was pain shooting through me, that my pain tolerance was really low. I was shaking like a leaf because they required a larger sample of tissue than anticipated and told me i would be fine without any medication for the pain, and also feeling extremely vulnerable because i was shamed on the doctor's table.
This was the fourth procedure i had in the same area and a day before my menstrual cycle before which pain tolerance levels dip because of other discomforts, and not enough information was shared with me to prepare myself for the experience.
I had to go straight to work after. My manager took one look at me and told me to go home. I had to take a cab because i could barely walk and cried every time we went over a speedbump. Days of bleeding and cramps followed.

my favorite dentist's assistant was actually really skilled at holding your face in just the right place and way that made me infinitely more comfortable.
that being said, doctors should still recognize the difference between nervousness and actual pain and flipping act accordingly.
I can handle pain, I've had a root canal without anesthesia because she tried two different ones and they just didn't numb my tooth so we said fuck it let's just do it.
I had my IUD inserted and removed without any pain management.
but my doctors told me that things would hurt in a moment, my gyno even stopped to check in with me when I was clearly in pain, and the dentist apologized and said she knew it was unpleasant but it would be over soon.
