Here's a little tip for the grind, if your looking for a specific material stop tracking it. There's some bs going on with the drop rates, so if you're looking for a specific descendant material with 20% drop rate and you're just not getting it, untrack it, it will drop within the next 2 or 3 runs, possibly in the very next one.

i have spent 150 hours playing TFD and i can tell u that farming normal charcetrs takes max 3-4 hours and then just waiting till they finish crafting, the only grind is on the optional Ult characetrs wich can take from 20-40 hours to farm but its not as bad as he makes it out to be.

That either means you still havent beaten the game/ entered hard mode where stuff is easy to get or u dont have much playtime per day or even you didnt spent the whole 3 days farming but only a few hours per day. Saying 3 days doesnt really mean anything because u were not playing for 24h so say i grinded for 8 hours(example) and still didnt get her

I feel like this is slightly misleading. The game has some pretty easy characters to unlock that do not take 100’s of hours to get. In fact majority of the characters are not extraordinarily difficult to unlock. The ones that take a ridiculous amount of time are the ultimates which you don’t even need. It’s a great game that’s completely free and I recommend if you’re thinking about playing, just get it and try it out. If you do end up liking it my biggest recommendation is to not rush the story. I took it very slow and did some pre grinding and it saved me tons of time and really helped extend the story’s life while keeping me engaged.
The grind isn't too bad for most descendants. I have 6 characters right now and I've played the game for under 150 hours total. I haven't been grinding for the characters all that time either. Mostly for weapons, catalyst, and energy activators. You'll occasionally hit a wall on one singular component with a really low drop rate, but if you just not give up on it you'll be glad you stayed with it.

I bought a skin through Xbox for the game and didn’t get it so I did the refund thing with Xbox and keep in mind I waited 30 minutes before doing that durning that 30 minutes I was resetting my game constantly but basically after I log back in after the refund I get the skin and then not even a second later I get permanently banned. Also the company that owns the game has had a lot of problems with this in the past.
It would be crazy if they were exclusively locked behind paywalls. People that don't have a lot of time to play can buy. People that have more time can just grind.
My biggest issue is the inability to color your character freely. In theory, to unlock all colors for every character skin that's colorable, the minimum is roughly $2,184. The maximum is $4,004
@tynrova9639 My biggest problem besides the pricing is the way colors look so different in gameplay vs. the customization screen. Got a nice gold, silver, black, red, etc? Guess what, that Black is now gray, the red is pink and the gold and silver look like sand and crumpled aluminum for some dumb reason
You're not forced to spend money. It's a personal choice. Unlocking everything by grinding isn't an issue if you plan on playing the game for a few years. I'll grind and spend money. Dont mind if i enjoy the game.
Yes the point is to grind but the amount of grind is the issue. In warframe, for some of the easier to get ones i can get the warframe and build it and max it out in like 2 hours (if you didnt have to wait 3 days for it to build so i mean play time to get and max the frame). It takes way to long to get any of the descendants
I just started playing and the grinding is the fun part. It’s very rewarding when you take a lot a work to get a new character and when you do they’re very strong and useful.
I've played about 150 hours and have filled my descendant slots including 1 ultimate that I grinded for and it wasn't even my main focus. It sucks sometimes when you are farming for the 3% drops or less but that's the game
That’s pretty luck tho if you really got a ultimate not even going for it. I’ve played 115 hours and I have gotten 1 ultimate Ajax part, however I have 8 descendants currently
I just started playing a few days ago. Besides my starter, Lepic, I got Bunny through the side quest that’s given to you. Then I got the side quest for Freyna & got 3 out of the 4 parts I need. For the last one, which supposedly has a 20% drop rate, I have done the Shelter mission more than 20 times and it still hasn’t dropped… I have spent a quarter of my total playtime doing this & besides being ridiculous it’s a complete turn off.

New update added limits for drop rates. This way if you are grinding for something specific, after so many attempts you’re guaranteed the item. That helps a lot and I’ll admit I like how most things you farm for, it tells you where to get them. Still a grind but most micro transaction issues is with end game material. Only been out a month so it still has promise.
The only time you really get pushed into buying things is when you beat the story and start grinding things. You will wanna have enzo and sharen so that you can open vaults consistently and so that you can do infiltrations for the amorphous materials.
Gunplay is great. Gameplay is great. I work 8 to 5. So it’s a perfect game for me. Being free to play as well. I don’t care how much how i look. Long as the game feels and plays great. Which checks those boxes.

The grind is not even that bad. Now if you want ultimates the grind is bad but that is on purpose. If people grinded in hard mode they would see the game is really generous. I already have 7 descendants unlocked. It was rewarding when I unlocked things.

I don’t really care about the drop rates of items, I care more about being able to get to even have that opportunity. The outpost/fragments/reactors are an absolute headache. Especially collecting enough shards to get access to the reactors. That needs to be taken out completely otherwise the spawn rates during fragments need to happen all at once.

Bruh i met a guy the other day on this game that pretty much played this game for almost 200+hrs so far and has freaking built some of the most broken characters in this game. He’s put on all his friends onto this game and pretty much promoted it to the point where Nexon themselves gave him vouchers for the currency for reporting an inconvenience. This game is fun asf but the grinding is sooo tedious. Plus the creators of this game are amazing
Coming from someone who’s played Ruenscape for +8000 hours imagine grinding for squirrel pet just one single pet literally over hundreds of hours so getting all the ultimate child’s play end of anything you guys should be grateful because at least you can still get it through grinding most places usually put a pay wall

I can say this. I work full time and don't have lot of spare time to grind, but I do have money. I'm not for p2w but I'm not against it either. This game so far as I have played gives you your cake and let's you eat it too, so to speak. I feel the devs understand the reality of the world we live in and did their best to be inclusive to both the working class and otherwise.
Why gamers are mad when a free game is greedy. If there is no reason to buy something people wont buy something, so ofcourse they make it easier if you pay thats why its free.
Honestly when compared to running 1hr plus raids, 3x a week hoping for that exotic drop, when you can take the same amount of time in First Descendant and hopefully walk away with a new unique and some extra materials…I count that as a win.

The comment above said “Just sound like warframe” which is false because Warframe microtransaction is nowhere near as predatory as in TDF and any player can earn platinum in Warframe by just playing the game. I’m 15 hours into the game started playing a few days ago. The game doesn’t try to suck me into buying descendants or spending money. But the gameplay is addicting and I always peek into the store 😭 this is from someone who has 5800 hours in destiny 2. Wish me luck lmao
Currently on 40 hours and have 5 characters with 2 more about to be finished whenever I get home. Barring the ultimate variants I got half the characters in less time then it would take me in overwatch 2. I think the main issue is that getting a character seems overwhelming at first and though possible to get them early game, the drop rates are terrible. You have to get further in the game to get good drop rates. So I think a lot of people are looking at the first boss only having a 6% drop rate for a character part and thinking that it’s only chance they have. I admit I was tempted to buy one character, but I just looked up a guide and was able to get them in just a day or two of play.

this games grind actually pays off.. after 300 hours i am still loving it.. lots of different types of missions to run, the hardest grind was actually made so easy now... any warframe player will succeed easily here..

I’ve been playing for about 125 hours. I have 9 descendants and about to have my first ultimate. The only money spent was game pass “10 bucks” so yea grind. But focused grind gets you things pretty fast. Better than other games for sure. I should add that I have been through the main story.
It’s nexon. They’ll do what they normally do. Release a hit, cash cow it till it dies, cash cow it some more, release few updates with some minor free stuff, then cash cow it again.
Also a major point to talk about, the optimisation, on a decent gaming pc with setting on medium it burned down the gpu in a week. After searching a bit on internet it seems i m not the only one in this case...
The difference on the grind is that warframe just needs a well built farming team (Trinity EV, Hydroid, Nekron, and a good runner) just start a survival and find a location where to bottleneck ads and just stand there until you get what you want semi afk if you ask me the number of times i blacked out just standing lmao
Let me be that guy once. I work full time 10+ hours a day, come home to chores kids etc. Play like 4 hours a day, have 2 ultimate Descendants fully catalyst and activated with mods fully maxed. As well as unlocked most of the normal descendants all farming. Not a hard game to farm at all.
From someone who played wareframe I can say this game doesn’t force you to grind half as much for new guns and characters. I’m sure if people are patient and don’t like the prices for transaction there should be sales that will allow to to get content at a discount just like warframe does. I spent 20 bucks on a free game and was able to get the battle pass that is a good value and have enough for a new character plus new body and head skin for my Ajax. Not a bad deal at all for free to play
I have no issues with the game. The shop makes up for the money where its free to play. Its only a problem is you are willing to buy. All games are grind and farm. If they weren't I will be able to obtain in one day. Then there will be nothing else to do.
I’m glad they made it this way I love the grind makes you feel good once you become stronger, it’s not so much of pay to play I think they are doing well what more could you ask for!!!
I played this game for like 120 hours now and I already ran out of character slots and have like 90 % of the modules. I am however a person who played 5k hours of warframe and I immediately understood how the game works and you scale your character up.
About 40 hours in and I have 5 characters unlocked so far just playing the game. The ultimate characters do take a bit longer to grind, but that's how it should be. They are basically the prime frames from Warframe.
After playing the game I can confirm you cannot get all the descendants without paying money when you start you only get 10 character slot and there are 19 total in the game with more on the way
Personally I find the grind easier here due to the actual length of missions, in Warframe every mission is 10 minutes AT LEAST and i'll need to do them 8+ times maybe to get an item or enough items to make one thing I've gotten multiple descendants almost passively from just playing the game or playing a 2 minute mission and getting it in a handful of tries
Got 4 additional characters (plus Bunny from missions and Ajax, character I picked to start) unlocked by just playing for free. You can play without paying for any cosmetics. So no complaints from me and thousands that’s playing for free. You like Destinity 2 or Warframe, good for you go play that. Also Micro-transaction is there for people who want it, not necessary to progress in game.
The grind isn’t so bad I’m used to having worse grinds on Warframe. What I will say is that with Warframe specifically you can trade and get platinum that way so you really don’t have to pay at all and still get premium stuff. The Warframe grind is wild prime examples being voruna (pre omnia fissure) ,styanax , sevagoth etc were if you want them you it’ll take you weeks on end to get them. Styanax takes 5 weeks to complete im glad I had a coupon and spare platinum and saved that time. Only reason why I got voruna at all is because omnia fissures came out. If it weren’t for those I can guarantee I wouldn’t have voruna as quick as I did. In my opinion with last descendant you could throw in like 40 bucks and have a chill time grinding the rest.
I think the Grind is blown way out of proportion. I was able to get Ultimate Lepic and U.Bunny in approximately 50 to 60 hours you just have to know how to boost your odds with certain items
i currently have 2 descendant and 1 starter (3 in total) leveling them is a pain so i gotta main only 1, the game is a grindfest as everyone here says and i'm kind of used to it since i spent tons of hours playing warframe. and i was so happy i finished farming 5 sets of components for thunder cage, it's tough but i can carry.
The grind, even though it's a long one for Ultimate Descendants, is one of the best executed one. The loops are not perfect, but it is a targeted grind, meaning I know exactly WHAT to farm and WHERE to farm it and not be a slave to some global RNG bullshit and just hope that it drops and that's why I'm still playing it. I'm on my way to get Ultimate Bunny for free.

I farmed ultimate bunny and 6 other descendants in 100 hours now I have every descendant I need to farm whatever I want. ALL FREE PLAY 1 thing I would like for them to change is the time I have to wait for crafting my characters.

They are referring to purchasing all the characters in the game and spending money on enhancement materials. Which if you do that the only thing you are grinding for are Gold, Kuiper, and Mods to put onto your items which would lead some people who do that to say "The grind is bad". These same people would also go on to complain about the dumbest shit all because they bought all the characters and all the enhancement materials. These people ruin these games imo but I completely get the argument of not having enough time which is fine.

So getting rid of that grind by buying the items then basically ruins the replayability of the game because then those same people will say dumb shit like "There was no grind". i have spent 150 hours playing TFD and i can tell u that farming normal charcetrs takes max 3-4 hours and then just waiting till they finish crafting, the only grind is on the optional Ult characetrs wich can take from 20-40 hours to farm but its not as bad as he makes it out to be.
oh and btw once u unlock the ult characters the skins for them get a discount and cost like 20 euro

That either means you still havent beaten the game/ entered hard mode where stuff is easy to get or u dont have much playtime per day or even you didnt spent the whole 3 days farming but only a few hours per day. I feel like this is slightly misleading. The game has some pretty easy characters to unlock that do not take 100’s of hours to get. In fact majority of the characters are not extraordinarily difficult to unlock. The ones that take a ridiculous amount of time are the ultimates which you don’t even need. It’s a great game that’s completely free and I recommend if you’re thinking about playing, just get it and try it out. If you do end up liking it my biggest recommendation is to not rush the story. I took it very slow and did some pre grinding and it saved me tons of time and really helped extend the story’s life while keeping me engaged.
The grind isn't too bad for most descendants. I have 6 characters right now and I've played the game for under 150 hours total. I haven't been grinding for the characters all that time either. Mostly for weapons, catalyst, and energy activators. You'll occasionally hit a wall on one singular component with a really low drop rate, but if you just not give up on it you'll be glad you stayed with it.

I bought a skin through Xbox for the game and didn’t get it so I did the refund thing with Xbox and keep in mind I waited 30 minutes before doing that durning that 30 minutes I was resetting my game constantly but basically after I log back in after the refund I get the skin and then not even a second later I get permanently banned. Also the company that owns the game has had a lot of problems with this in the past.

Guess what, that Black is now gray, the red is pink and the gold and silver look like sand and crumpled aluminum for some dumb reason

You're not forced to spend money. It's a personal choice. Unlocking everything by grinding isn't an issue if you plan on playing the game for a few years.

Yes the point is to grind but the amount of grind is the issue. In warframe, for some of the easier to get ones i can get the warframe and build it and max it out in like 2 hours (if you didnt have to wait 3 days for it to build so i mean play time to get and max the frame). It takes way to long to get any of the descendants
U know some missions have a 100% drop rate for a blueprint but the blueprint never drops for a huge amount of players.....

I just started playing and the grinding is the fun part. It’s very rewarding when you take a lot a work to get a new character and when you do they’re very strong and useful.
I've played about 150 hours and have filled my descendant slots including 1 ultimate that I grinded for and it wasn't even my main focus. It sucks sometimes when you are farming for the 3% drops or less but that's the game

I just started playing a few days ago.
Besides my starter, Lepic, I got Bunny through the side quest that’s given to you.
Then I got the side quest for Freyna & got 3 out of the 4 parts I need. For the last one, which supposedly has a 20% drop rate, I have done the Shelter mission more than 20 times and it still hasn’t dropped…
I have spent a quarter of my total playtime doing this & besides being ridiculous it’s a complete turn off.

New update added limits for drop rates. This way if you are grinding for something specific, after so many attempts you’re guaranteed the item. That helps a lot and I’ll admit I like how most things you farm for, it tells you where to get them. Still a grind but most micro transaction issues is with end game material. Only been out a month so it still has promise.

The only time you really get pushed into buying things is when you beat the story and start grinding things. You will wanna have enzo and sharen so that you can open vaults consistently and so that you can do infiltrations for the amorphous materials.
Gunplay is great. Gameplay is great. I work 8 to 5. So it’s a perfect game for me. Being free to play as well. I don’t care how much how i look. Long as the game feels and plays great. Which checks those boxes.

The grind is not even that bad. Now if you want ultimates the grind is bad but that is on purpose. If people grinded in hard mode they would see the game is really generous. I already have 7 descendants unlocked. It was rewarding when I unlocked things.

I don’t really care about the drop rates of items, I care more about being able to get to even have that opportunity. The outpost/fragments/reactors are an absolute headache. Especially collecting enough shards to get access to the reactors. That needs to be taken out completely otherwise the spawn rates during fragments need to happen all at once.

Bruh i met a guy the other day on this game that pretty much played this game for almost 200+hrs so far and has freaking built some of the most broken characters in this game. He’s put on all his friends onto this game and pretty much promoted it to the point where Nexon themselves gave him vouchers for the currency for reporting an inconvenience. This game is fun asf but the grinding is sooo tedious. Plus the creators of this game are amazing

I can say this. I work full time and don't have lot of spare time to grind, but I do have money. I'm not for p2w but I'm not against it either. This game so far as I have played gives you your cake and let's you eat it too, so to speak. I feel the devs understand the reality of the world we live in and did their best to be inclusive to both the working class and otherwise.
Why gamers are mad when a free game is greedy. If there is no reason to buy something people wont buy something, so ofcourse they make it easier if you pay thats why its free.
Honestly when compared to running 1hr plus raids, 3x a week hoping for that exotic drop, when you can take the same amount of time in First Descendant and hopefully walk away with a new unique and some extra materials…I count that as a win.

I never argued against the fact that TDF is almost identical to Warframe when you compare: descendants vs frames, modules vs mods, energy activators vs orokin catalyst, crystallization catalyst vs forma, mastery ranks, ect.

Currently on 40 hours and have 5 characters with 2 more about to be finished whenever I get home.
Barring the ultimate variants I got half the characters in less time then it would take me in overwatch 2.
I think the main issue is that getting a character seems overwhelming at first and though possible to get them early game, the drop rates are terrible. You have to get further in the game to get good drop rates. So I think a lot of people are looking at the first boss only having a 6% drop rate for a character part and thinking that it’s only chance they have.
I admit I was tempted to buy one character, but I just looked up a guide and was able to get them in just a day or two of play.
The company nexon is know for this and ruining great games. Ive personally stayed away from the game due to the company

I’ve been playing for about 125 hours. I have 9 descendants and about to have my first ultimate. The only money spent was game pass “10 bucks” so yea grind. But focused grind gets you things pretty fast. Better than other games for sure. I should add that I have been through the main story.
It’s nexon. They’ll do what they normally do. Release a hit, cash cow it till it dies, cash cow it some more, release few updates with some minor free stuff, then cash cow it again.
Also a major point to talk about, the optimisation, on a decent gaming pc with setting on medium it burned down the gpu in a week. After searching a bit on internet it seems i m not the only one in this case...
The difference on the grind is that warframe just needs a well built farming team (Trinity EV, Hydroid, Nekron, and a good runner)

Let me be that guy once. I work full time 10+ hours a day, come home to chores kids etc. Play like 4 hours a day, have 2 ultimate Descendants fully catalyst and activated with mods fully maxed. As well as unlocked most of the normal descendants all farming. Not a hard game to farm at all.
From someone who played wareframe I can say this game doesn’t force you to grind half as much for new guns and characters. I’m sure if people are patient and don’t like the prices for transaction there should be sales that will allow to to get content at a discount just like warframe does. I spent 20 bucks on a free game and was able to get the battle pass that is a good value and have enough for a new character plus new body and head skin for my Ajax. Not a bad deal at all for free to play
I have no issues with the game. The shop makes up for the money where its free to play. Its only a problem is you are willing to buy. All games are grind and farm. If they weren't I will be able to obtain in one day. Then there will be nothing else to do.

I’m glad they made it this way I love the grind makes you feel good once you become stronger, it’s not so much of pay to play I think they are doing well what more could you ask for!!!
I spent billions and billons of dollars only for the crystals so i can redo characters and weapons. The best part...no one can stop me.
I played this game for like 120 hours now and I already ran out of character slots and have like 90 % of the modules. I am however a person who played 5k hours of warframe and I immediately understood how the game works and you scale your character up.
About 40 hours in and I have 5 characters unlocked so far just playing the game. The ultimate characters do take a bit longer to grind, but that's how it should be. They are basically the prime frames from Warframe.
It's the game I keep logging into even when I'm ready to play something else.
After playing the game I can confirm you cannot get all the descendants without paying money when you start you only get 10 character slot and there are 19 total in the game with more on the way
Bruh they upped the cost of all the descendants to 900
Personally I find the grind easier here due to the actual length of missions, in Warframe every mission is 10 minutes AT LEAST and i'll need to do them 8+ times maybe to get an item or enough items to make one thing
I've gotten multiple descendants almost passively from just playing the game or playing a 2 minute mission and getting it in a handful of tries

Got 4 additional characters (plus Bunny from missions and Ajax, character I picked to start) unlocked by just playing for free. You can play without paying for any cosmetics. So no complaints from me and thousands that’s playing for free.
You like Destinity 2 or Warframe, good for you go play that.
Also Micro-transaction is there for people who want it, not necessary to progress in game.
The grind isn’t so bad I’m used to having worse grinds on Warframe. What I will say is that with Warframe specifically you can trade and get platinum that way so you really don’t have to pay at all and still get premium stuff. The Warframe grind is wild prime examples being voruna (pre omnia fissure) ,styanax , sevagoth etc were if you want them you it’ll take you weeks on end to get them. Styanax takes 5 weeks to complete im glad I had a coupon and spare platinum and saved that time. Only reason why I got voruna at all is because omnia fissures came out. If it weren’t for those I can guarantee I wouldn’t have voruna as quick as I did. In my opinion with last descendant you could throw in like 40 bucks and have a chill time grinding the rest.
I think the Grind is blown way out of proportion. I was able to get Ultimate Lepic and U.Bunny in approximately 50 to 60 hours you just have to know how to boost your odds with certain items
i currently have 2 descendant and 1 starter (3 in total) leveling them is a pain so i gotta main only 1, the game is a grindfest as everyone here says and i'm kind of used to it since i spent tons of hours playing warframe. and i was so happy i finished farming 5 sets of components for thunder cage, it's tough but i can carry.
Add a chance tk get a 75% discount one-time purchase login reward and I might play.
Maybe for the ult chars u need 10 hours grind, but everything normal is easy doable in 2-3 hours
The grind, even though it's a long one for Ultimate Descendants, is one of the best executed one. The loops are not perfect, but it is a targeted grind, meaning I know exactly WHAT to farm and WHERE to farm it and not be a slave to some global RNG bullshit and just hope that it drops and that's why I'm still playing it. I'm on my way to get Ultimate Bunny for free.
Just started. Never played a shooter looters game before. Have no idea what I'm doing. But this random did team up with me and one shot the Grave Walker for us, so that was nice.
I farmed ultimate bunny and 6 other descendants in 100 hours now I have every descendant I need to farm whatever I want. ALL FREE PLAY 1 thing I would like for them to change is the time I have to wait for crafting my characters.
You’re gonna have to grind, a lot. Yeah that sounds like a good game to me. Wouldn’t want them to just hand me everything. Feels really good when you’re grinding pays off and you get these amazing characters and weapons
