I went to see Graham about 5 years ago and met him after and spent time with him, he's an absolute gentleman brilliant singer still doing it now in his 70's ❤ The Down to Earth album is great.
Rainbow has been one of those groups that changed up vocalist multiple times, each era providing some great songs. The next era was Joe Lynn Turner, check out the song "Stone Cold" or "Tear'n out my Heart". Then last came the Doogie White era of new Rainbow songs, check out the song "Ariel".
Rock bands having big chart hits wasn't very common in the UK at that time, so this was very welcome on the radio. As short as it is, the guitar solo is one of my favourites.
Rainbow's songs. The famous song, "The temple and the king". I am a fan of Deep Purple. The last album b4 the band break up was Stormbringer. After that the album "Come taste the band". The missing Riche Blackmore riffs was gone. The Rainbow came with Blackmore's guitar riffs. Than later followed by the band Whitesnake. Deep Purple split into 3. Deep Purple, Rainbow & Whitesnake.
Written by Russ Ballard (Argent). He wrote a lot of great songs that was covered by out bands. Rainbow did Since You Been Gone and I Surrender. Uriah Heep did On The Rebound. Sweet, Hello and Ace Frehley did New York Groove. Kiss recorded God Gave Rock'n'Roll To You. Just to mention a few. Graham Bonnet recorded an album with the band Blackthorne in 1993. The album Afterlife. Bob Kulick guitar RIP, Jimmy Waldo (Alcatrazz) keys, Frankie Benali (Quiet Riot, WASP) RIP and Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot) bass. Bob's brother Bruce Kulick (Kiss) played on a few tracks as well. Check out the song Afterlife.
The Dio era of Rainbow is just some of the greatest music ever written but I always liked this album as well, Eyes of the World is so good and Graham's vocal performance is top notch.
Hi there my wife and I have been watching your reviews to music for some time now and love seeing your reaction to the music that we grew up with, mainly music from the 60s,70s &80s. As this is the first time we have made a comment on watching your reviews I just thought i would like to make a suggestion to you of two short funny songs that you may not of heard Both these are by RAY STEVENS first song is THE BRICKLAYER SONG and the Second song is I'M MY OWN GRANDPA hope that you find these songs amusing and that you can find time to review them all the best and keep up the great work Yours KEN &CHRISTINE.
🇬🇧 Back in the day, 70s/80s, I was into Motown & Soul music. But...... I LOVED this when I heard it on Top Of The Pops or on the radio. It's a proper BANGER 👌🎼🎸🥁👏❤
One of my fave songs of all time! So poppy and heavy at the same time. Graham Bonnet has such a powerful voice. The little lick Richie Blackmore does just before the outro of the song is just so awesome!!!
I went to see them with blue oyster cult on my 22nd birthday had to drive a hundred miles in a snowstorm to Denver and back and was worth every scary mile!!!!
Ah! At last. My favourite "Rainbow" Line up, with Graham Bonnet on vocals. Not my favourite song to be honest. It was probably a bit overplayed at the time and I got fed up with it. I loved the rest of the "Down to Earth" Album though. "All Night Long," "Love's no Friend" and "In the Eyes of the World," are really good tracks. Funny that one of the things I liked about Graham Bonnet (his style) was what eventually caused a rift with band leader Ritchie Blackmore. I liked the fact that he didn't conform to the long haired Rock vocalist model. Blackmore as I heard it, was "grow your hair or leave the band" in attitude. So Graham left and I applaud him for it. Not conforming to what the boss wants is way more "Rock 'n' Roll than being just another stereotype.
Ritchie was pissed off when the lead singer cut his heir short he said we are a metal band and we damn sure need to look like one he didn’t last much long before Ritchie gave him the boot.
Richie didn't like Graham Bonnet's look in particular that his hair was too short & wanted him to grow it before they toured as he thought the fans would take to him more. He actually had a roadie guard Bonnet's room as the tour started as Bonnet had threatened to get it cut. Somehow Bonnet escaped & had his hair cut & Richie was so angry he wanted to attack him on stage. Richie told this story himself.
The good news is you get a thumbs up anyway!! The bad news,, not a Graham Bonnet fan. He's been with Alcatraz,,, on one Michael Shenker album; Assault Attack. I prefer Joe Lynn Turner. A RAINBOW 🌈 Turner hit I believe was ; STONE COLD,,,, I SURRENDER and STREET OF DREAMS ⭐ Alba Nation! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎♾️🎸🤟🏼🎄
Bonnet in 1984 in live exibition in band Alcatraz , the young swedish gutar player YNGWIE MALMSTEEN He grabbed him by the neck after live show...threatening to strangle him. A misunderstanding ..Graham Bonnet lower height Yngwie high 1,90 cm 6,8 feet.
I've always liked this song and of course your reaction was great ! Here is a song by Crosby ,Stills,Nash and Young that I think you will love. they have many other awesome songs also. It has Great harmony !! th-cam.com/video/nP0VBB7BO64/w-d-xo.html (Carry on )

What a great vocalist and frontman Graham is! Classic number by the awesome Rainbow!!
Incredible power and every lyric as clear as a bell.

Thanks for doing this one! Haven’t heard in quite a few years😉
Rock royalty line up of Rainbow. Richie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Cosy Powell and Graham Bonnet
And Don Airey!
That’s guitarist Ritchie Blackmore after he had left the group Deep Purple. 👍
Excellent!!❤❤❤
A great band with many singers, also Joe Lynn Turner was a great singer in the band, try something with him singing
Head East did this song a year earlier and is worth listening to.
Always loved this song. Blackmore rulez!

I never get tired of cranking up this classic gem. Definitely a favorite from Rainbow. Liked your reactions and interactions.

Great one!!
Ritchie was pissed off when the lead singer cut his heir short he said we are a metal band and we damn sure need to look like one he didn’t last much long before Ritchie gave him the boot.
I recall this caused a lot of controversy with the lead singer having such a 'polished' image.
Still enjoyed hearing it again though
Check out Stone Cold. It’s an amazing Rainbow song. The guitar solo by Ritchie Blackmore is epic.
Richie didn't like Graham Bonnet's look in particular that his hair was too short & wanted him to grow it before they toured as he thought the fans would take to him more. He actually had a roadie guard Bonnet's room as the tour started as Bonnet had threatened to get it cut. Sounds about right. Richie was a different cat, for sure.
somehow, i think electric six was inspired by this guy
