The singer Graham Bonnet has a connection to the Bee Gees, he and his cousin had a group. The Marbles were an English rock duo that consisted of Graham Bonnet and his cousin Trevor Gordon, who operated between 1968 and 1969. Their only well-known singles were "Only One Woman" and "The Walls Fell Down". They also became associated with the Bee Gees members Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb at that time. Trevor Gordon also played guitar for the Bee Gees.
😂😂😂😂Russ Ballard was never in Central Illinois band - Head East. He is from England and had nothing to do with Head East. He was in the band Argent named after the band leader Rod Argent formerly of The Zombies. Ballard wrote other hit songs though- God Gave Rock & Roll To You - covered by KISS as well as. New York Groove recorded by Ace Frehley.
Other than that they covered this song, Russ Ballard never had any association with Head East. Could you be confusing him with their keyboardist, Roger Boyd? The names are a bit similar.
The Rainbow song that's so relavent to what's going on right now is "Can't Happen Here"...which was made over 35 years ago... I think you will LIKE it...
It's an upbeat melody that belies the heartache in this song, as the singer is losing his mind now that his girl has left him. He can't stop thinking about her, reading her breakup letter under the streetlight and wishing for her return.
Fun facts about Rainbow They're the only band with top 10 hits with 3 different singers The founder of Rainbow is also the founder of Deep Purple Richie Blackmore
1979 Rainbow was a side gig for The guitar player Ritchie Blackmore, when he wanted a break from Deep Purple. He would chose the guys he felt like working with and they would work the songs up. Roger Glover {bass guitar} was in this as well as With him in Deep Purple for a while. As was the keyboard player Don Airy Next in your Rainbow Trek with Graham Bonnet on vox. "All Night Long" 1980. Another version of Rainbow had Joe Lynn Turner on vocals There is at least one more version of the Band I can think of
Well, at this point, Ritchie had been out of Deep Purple (which was broken up) for four years and they wouldn't reunite for another five. So I'd dispute "side gig", exactly. But JMO.
THis is actually a cover too . The original was by Russ Ballard who was the lead singer of Argent . Matter of fact Russ has had a lot of songs covered by other artist like I'm Winning by( Santana), God Gave Rock and Roll to You ( Kiss) , In the Night and New York Groove (Ace Frehley)and Russ also wrote the 80s hit for the band America You Can Do Magic.
The first hit Rainbow had after Richie Blackmore split from Deep Purple to create the group was "Man on the Silver Mountain". It has Ronnie James Dio on vocals. It is a must listen if you want to review Rainbow. It is a rocker...
This Rainbow with the legendary Graham Bonnet on vocals was much more commercially successful than the others and you should check out his earlier group The Marbles with their big hit Only One Woman which is a Bee Gees song!
Yes, I think this and "All night long" are the only tracks I have heard Graham sing, but they are both great performances. Rainbow really did not try to maintain any kind of specific sound when they switched lead singers. They just went in a completely different direction each time. Dio was like an evil little medieval demon, clambering around on stage and then Bonner and Turner were nothing like Dio, or each other.
Rainbow became more "pop" after Ronnie Dio left the band. Graham Bonnet only did one album then came in Joe Lynn Turner for the last couple of albums before Deep Purple reunited. You guys may like Joe Lynn Turner's version of Rainbow, Street of dreams, stone cold were two of their bigger "hits"

There is Rainbow with this singer, Graham Bonnet then the much more metal leaning Rainbow with Dio as a lead singer. Two completely different sounds from the same band, and both of them great!
Rainbow was kind of a Deep Purple spin off band featuring both Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) and Roger Glover (bass). Early Rainbow had Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Try "Man on the Silver Mountain". Singing lead in later years is Joe Lynn Turner, check out "Street of Dreams" and "Stone Cold" from his era.
Graham Bonnet, lead singer at this stage of Rainbow also had a few hits previously with a duo in the sixties called The Marbles and his solo career( “Warm Ride” & “ It’s All Over Now Baby Blue) before joining Rainbow . 2 songs that stood out with The Marbles, ( where he was also the lead vocal) was “The Walls Fell Down” and “Only One Woman”To me this period was when his voice was at its peak, The Walls Fell Down was definitely my favourite, both of these songs were written by the Bee Gees, so that tells you something, Awesome 👏
I'm so glad you did this. I love the 'Down to Earth' album! Graham Bonnet is one of my favorite rock vocalists. Anything off this album is great, try 'Lost in Hollywood'. This is a cover of a Russ Ballard song. Ritchie Blackmore wanted to take Rainbow in a more pop direction, but I love all of it. Amber if you like this style try listening to anything from the Joe Lynn Turner era.
lead singer is Graham Bonnet who had a solo hit "Night Games" in the 80s one of my favourite all time songs. The drummer in this video is Cozy Powell (check out Dance with the Devil). he also played drums for Whitesnake in the 80s and sadly passed away around 1998 I think.
I remember listening to this song on my little red ball radio when I was around 8yrs old......it was really good and now, with much better speakers it sounds so much better.
Another great single from the same album is 'All Night Long' - but an absolute banger final track is 'Lost In Hollywood' - check it out! (Just make sure you get the album version with the amazing drum intro).
You should check out a live version of this song by Brian May (the guitarist from Queen). It's from 1993, and it's with the same drummer who was in Rainbow, Cozy Powell.
J & Amber, it's time for more Bee Gees!! "Love so right " should be the next song. I'm telling you this song is fantastic!! Sir Barry goes off on this song! It's just as good as " To much heaven ".
Graham Bonnet - one of the most underrated vocalists of all time.
Graham Bonnet was in 1969 with a duo called The Marbles, only hit "Only one woman".
Seriously. One of the best blues rock voices ever.
Underrated, because he went and chopped his hair ? Idiotic !
Is it true he was kicked out because his hair was too short!?
@@LeviAckerman-cb5ji That's the story. Apparently, he had to sneak out to get his hair cut, because Blackmore wanted him to grow it out.

AMBER Try The Band,, The sweet And their song FOX ON THE RUN ,,Its my fav 70s song I think LOL Its from 1975 You will dig this 70s Smash hit
Amber this is Rain Bow in the late 70s From Jan 1979 Its a 70s vibe
Haven't heard this song since 7th grade.
1979 I WAS 19
Rainbow had that many line up changes, it was a who's who of 70's & 80's rock artists. Some amazing line ups and music produced!!!!!
i'd forgotten just how great this line up was,
Yesss!!! Someone's finally reacting this! One of my faves.
I used to hear this song on the radio.(very 70's vibe) The bassist and guitarist later became Deep Purple
Rainbow - Street of Dreams
studio version (Joe Lynn Turner/vocals)
70s all the way 4 sure
Stone Cold, Street of dreams, I surrender. Man on the silver mountain... All great Rainbow songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very theatrical band!
Vocals from the great Graham Bonnet. If you like his amazing multi-octave voice, check out his solo songs 'it's All over Now, Baby Blue' & 'Warm Ride'. Also his 60's hit with The Marbles 'Only One Woman'. Voice in a million.
Graham Bonnet....amazing vocals!!!
Russ Ballard, the guy who wrote this song, has written hits for just about everyone, but could never bag one for himself, outside of Argent. You should check out his song Voices.
Voices is a cool ass song, totally forgot about it but when I read your comment I instantly heard it playing in my head.
The only one of his that I remember was On the Rebound. He sure wrote some great songs that were big hits for other artists though!
He also wrote “you can do magic” for America, a favourite of mine
Love this band! Street of Dreams is my favourite Rainbow tune.
Every kid in the 80's learned how to play this Riff on the guitar 🎸
1979 giant of cool song loooooove them 70s baby
A Classic!!! Every duke box in every country pub in England had this song on even into the mid- 1980's. Everyone would sing and rock out to it.
I'm a former sound tech/Disc Jockey from the 70s,80s & 90s. Worked with bands from Steppenwolf, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Pat Benetar, Debra Harry (Blondie) Greg Kihn, & many others. You two are a throwback to the days of old, when people really respected music, and those who made it. "In Short" Ya'll Rock" Love your channel "Rock On" yours truly Jake...

Great to hear this again...man ..I had forgotten this one...but....THEIR ARE SO MANY SONGS OUT THERE TO BE DISCOVERED....
Street of Dreams is one of my favourite Rainbow songs!
Old comment cuz you have had this up for a year. Love your reactions. Pure 80's rock with rhythm at it's best. Garbs you from the beginning. so fun to see people not hearing it before.
There is Rainbow with this singer, Graham Bonnet then the much more metal leaning Rainbow with Dio as a lead singer. Two completely different sounds from the same band, and both of them great!
...and here we are 9 months later and it is the main song for the new Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 movie, with a wicked new mix! =)
Their Rainbow Rising album is a gem. There were two eras of the band. This is later era rainbow with the new lead singer
This song came out in EARLY 1979 Them 70s ROCKED al little bit lol
April Wine has a song called “Just between you and me “ this song is amazing. Please give this a reaction.
That is Graham Bonnett, not Joe Lynn Turner.
Rainbow's even more Deep Purple connected now, since it also featured future Deep Purple members Don Airey and Joe Lynn Turner.
The Late Great Cozy Powell on Drums !! R.I.P. Cozy Powell !!
J & Amber-you 2 are my very favorite peeps on TH-cam. It's so cool to watch you listening to all these different bands! ty for your videos!
Oh yeah! Going with some old school classic Rainbow - I love it!!
Yea rainbow's "I surrender" with Joe Lynn Turner singing is a classic 👍🤘
Graham Bonnet is so cool!
It's been a minute,,,,, I had forgotten this tune. Thanks for the reaction. You two always find some great tunes.
One of my all-time favorite tunes. Get around to "Stone Cold", "Death Alley Driver" & "Gates of Babylon".
Miss Mistreated is a great song from the Joe Lynn Turner era of Rainbow.
You guy's Bless me.. watching y'all's reaction is priceless. God Bless you too.. from Oklahoma ❤️
