I've always called it a Radio or Transmitter since the late 80s. Controller sounds like something you would use with a video game. My Slash is well over 10 years old and still runs great. I've had many other Slashes in past but, I've always kept my Chad Hord edition. It's my favourite paint scheme. I use a Futaba receiver with an internal antenna. It's much more convenient.
Just got a slash like that used. I knew the battery mode setting...had no idea why it wouldnt go in reverse...thanks...race mode. That works for me. Im in pa as well!

Excellent video. I’m going to start with this truck. In the 80s I had a Tamiya Hornet and Fox. With Futaba controllers. Wish I kept them but sold everything when I left for the Airfirce in 1991. Gonna start with a RTR unit this time. Going to see if my 9year old son likes it before I dump big $$$ into it.
I've been running Futaba radios since the late 80s and still do today. No one else compares in quality to Futaba.

very informative i was wondering whether to get this or not but i’m going to get it!
i bought probably 5 slashes by now. I still use my first one i bought to race with.
I also noticed when you were charging your lipo it was on the fast mode. I would recommend charging it on the balance mode to keep the cells balanced and avoid the battery puffing and maybe even exploding.
I charge in balance mode before every race day

Standard and race are the same except that race mode has no reverse I thought mine was broken great video btw

The default suspension settings are way too soft. First thing I did was change the shock mounting postions to the farthest out (holes closest to the wheels) it will angle the shocks more and make the feel stiffer. Then after wards, add spacers accordingly.

I never got the thing that keeps the antenna from coming off does anybody know the piece name or number item
ok so now to change out the shocks,wheels/tires,add sway bar,change axles to mip cvd,and also dont forget to change out the motor and esc.
They say the battery and charger come with the RTR Slash 2WD
Had my Slash bout 3 weeks. Waiting on a replacement servo now from Traxxas. Probably need to upgrade to metal. Nice video. I’m just getting into the RC world. Love it though.

Traxxas electronics are junk. You'd be off getting a cheap metal gear servo from Amazon.

Hi buddy. Great video, thanks for posting. I just got my slash only 4 days ago after abstaining for 32 years from RC cars. All I can say is WOW!!!! They came a long way. Your video hit the nail on the head on many points for me as I got my slash home and unboxed it! NICE is really how they are straight out the box. How lucky are we to be able to get brand new kit like this! I'm still running in 50% training mode as this beats the crap out of anything mildly available in 1988........ why rush to go to 100%!? I'm actually finding the 50% speed in smaller spaces more rewarding technically than blasting up an down open spaces flat out! Thanks and stay safe.

I got my slash a month ago first it didn’t have plastic on the body there was only one tag on it for the esc not for suspension and it had a left rear broken hub carrier. Took six days to get a replacement for the hub and when it came they sent me two rear a arms wtf. Then another six to finally get the hub carrier and didn’t send stock sent me two rpm ones I was ok with that. But 12 days before I could even put a battery threw it. Not a good start.
Just received my slash ultimate the other day and I’m impressed with it. I’m sure you meant to have published this video in December not January.
I have a question my slash 2wd is flashing red and green I’m using a 3s 5000mah battery is it to powerful for the car

You need new batteries for the remote.
It may not be "the best" RC truck. That depends on what you want and what you expect out of it. But for sure it is the best supported brand of RC.
Idk what’s wrong with my / because I just bought a lipo for mine I switched it to lipo mode but when I give it throttle the esc light turns off and the car doesn’t move when I let off it lights back up the steering still works it just won’t move. Can someone tell me what’s wrong do I need a new motor or somthing
Is this battery better than the 7cell 3000mah battery ? Thats the one that came in my car but wanna upgrade to have longer run time should i get the 2 cell lipo 5000mah or 5800mah ?
2 cell 5800 will give you almost twice the run time.. The "mah" is your gas tank.. bigger the number, longer the run time.. the bigger the "c" rating the bigger burst of energy you will have although i found to be less noticeable. hope that helps..

Wow. You defisntley got a dud motor. My sons monster truck is still using his original. It's been used for 3 seasons. Sometimes used as a crawler but mostly indoors as his juniors class race truck. It's been overheated many many times and just keeps trucking. I bought a spare just in case years ago and it's still sitting on the shelf. Hope u got a replacement under warranty

firedawg1998 I can’t seem to keep Titans working. I’ve only had bad luck with them getting hot as hell. Ran it on a 2s lipo. Guess I’m to hard on them. I’ll never have an xl5 in my main vehicle but I’d definitely own one
