    I haven't planted any bulbs yet in my life, but I am in the learning process and let Laura's videos inspire me with ideas. I love the idea of having a mass of complimentary coloured bulbs come up at the same time in early spring. That would lift my spirits!

    Im not able to pay the fee... Im from South Africa, but I subscribed to your channel. Sitting here in the corner of my world my own problems, I try to watch at least one of your videos. Your gardens are beautiful. It's my little escape from my problems.
    Dunno what I would do without watching these videos. For some reason your way of teaching just makes me imagine i could have a garden like this too 'someday'.

    I'm in zone 9, New Orleans, LA, and love looking forward to adding the things I learn from you in my garden, even if it's a few months later.
    You and Arron should tour the gardens down here in the south. Maybe in March/April when every thing is in beautiful bloom. Love you!

    So.... I don't know anything about bulbs but I really like the idea. Can you plant things on top of that now (I mean obviously something thin enough or annual for the tulips to push through) or do you have to keep it dirt?

    Love your videos. I too live in a zone 5 and my husband and I just built a unheated lean-to greenhouse. It’s south facing and is against two solid walls. My question is how cold does it get in your hoop house at night? I was hoping to store some of my potted tulip bulbs and maybe my rosemary plant in there, do you think that would be safe?
    Thanks,

    I made a HUGE MISTAKE!!!! I watched a video about planting en masse inside mesh bags. I used shredded aspen bedding to keep the bulbs in place. However, I just watched your video and I realized that I planted the bulbs UPSIDE DOWN. The "pointy side" is facing down. Have I just lost 500 bulbs?

    I have a question! I hope you will see this! :)
    So last winter I got a little pot with 3 tulip bulbs in a small pot. I kept them inside, they were beautiful. I want to replant them, just in a bigger pot. How deep should I plant them? Will they bloom next spring aswell, or should I plant them outside? I really hope I can bring them inside. :)
    Thank you for your answer!
    By the way I live in Hungary, and I've been following you for ages! :D I'm just about to bring my succulents inside, so they can survive the winter. The temperature here gets about -8°C low, which is about 17 F if I'm correct. :D

      Dont cut the foliage, or wait until they get yellow. The foliage is important to accumulate energy to the bulb for blooming the next year.

      Small animal and prey repellant. It's this spray they sell at some garden centers that animals like squirrels and deer don't like the smell of, and it's been decently effective at repelling squirrels in my garden when I remember to spray it often. The instructions usually say that for bulbs you should spray the bulb itself as well as any new growth.

    • @Dori123196
      @Dori123196 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard of tons of suggestions, but don't have pests so I don't use them.
      plant them surrounded by very cheap unused kitty litter. It helps with water retention and deer hate it, so it may work on varmints. I've also heard of sprinkling cayenne pepper on the flower bed after planting to keep critters away, but you'd have to reapply it every few weeks and every time after it rains. I've also heard of people planting the bulbs surrounded by old sugar gum tree husks or other pointy fauna.

      @sveltus290 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A machine gun! 😅 no i m juste kidding, you can put a "wire chicken fence" over the bulb, under the first layer of soil to hide it. The hole are big enough to let the plant come out but squirel wont be able to get to the bulb. You can also buy pruduct for keeping animal away or make your own mixture with water, garlic and hot pepper that you let 24h before you spray on the ground. You will have to spray again every week and after each rain.
