The Sangre's often get overlooked. Great trail and area at the top. Wasn't sure where you were at first, then "that van"..... Bam.... I camped up there as well a few years ago. Did the lake hike as well & spelunking around the mine area. I've had similar flats like that. There are some sneaky rocks and culverts out there. I've always kept a full size spare and do a 5 tire rotation. An added expence for the 5th matching rim and tire, but sooooo worth it at times like that. Nice filming !

If that’s your worst nightmare, your nightmares are pretty mild.
I thought you were gonna drive off a shelf road or breakdown on top of a mountain.

    • @OrrinLewis

@@danieldonegan6914 get outta here dude. Wouldn’t be making a video if I drove a shelf road. Driving with a smaller tire and having to stay in rear wheel drive significantly handicaps the vehicle. Agree. That's more of an bummer than a nightmare. It's also a result of not being fully prepared if running a different sized spare is considered a nightmare to Orrin. I mean really...when off roading a flat is just a matter of time. Nightmare would be forgetting the jack, catastrophic engine failure, or rats eating your wiring loom resulting a no start condition. Then again he probably got more clicks adding a dramatic title to this.

You should look into buying a package of the Glue Tread. It is made for side wall damage. You could have applied their patch and drove out on the same tire. Btw, that is a good looking Colorado. Being a Jeep owner - the rubicon is sweet too. Love the 2 doors.

I had a sidewall split on a recent trip, since I was going to be Offroad for several days I decided to run an expirement and just throw a ton of plugs into the sidewall. It worked pretty well, the plugs would worm themselves out over the course of a day, and I'd just push them back in.
Obviously I changed the tire before I got back on the highway, but it seems like it would work to get you out of a jam.
