Great review of one of my favorite Microtech knives. I'm so glad that you explained why the pocket clip is tip down on the Socom. I've tried explaining Microtech made it this way for a reason, & you showed that perfectly 👌.
Thank you! And the clip makes total sense when you actually carry it, i was going to throw in that the studs sometimes catch, but you get used to it pretty quickly and adjust accordingly

Microtech definitely does make some damn good knives for the price.
Bravo ! The heart of a thoroughbred in the body of a mule ! I have the auto. My brother has a manual from 1999 he's really put it thru it's paces over the years "no cries of issue in doubt" , loved the sharpening advice also. Neat video !

You made me order another one. I finally got the clip point. I have a manual and auto tanto. Unlike the tantos, I didn't get the combo edge, just plain edge. Great job.
This is the best review out of all reviews I’ve seen on TH-cam, thank you sir!! I found your advice on sharpening a tanto extremely helpful as well.
I feel the detent ball is perfectly placed so the blade doesn't drop on your thumb if your not exactly where it's suppose to be but if your thumbs where it belongs the detent mates up perfectly

If I could get knives like this, msi, stitch and others in cruwear I absolutely would. Noticed how careful you were with the edge, I couldn't bring myself to pry with m390.

I like how you approach sharpening with confidence and amazing results ! time to hit my bailout tanto lol -- this is why I like your channel ! real life usage and real experience, I get the whole collection thing but I use my knives at the same time, some people like action, geometry, material, lock up.. I enjoy the sharpening side of the whole knife hobby world =]

Always, always, always wear gloves when using the glass breaker! I forget what channel it was but there was a guy who pounded a hole into a car windshield with his glass breaker. It worked really well at punching through the windshield but when he pulled away there were glass shards impeded in the pad of his hand and the side of his wrist. He made more videos since then so it wasn't fatal but I am pretty sure he went to the hospital to patch that up.
Cool knife though, definitely tougher than it looks. Nice to know that the price tag isn't all about the looks and its still tough enough to get through a solid work day.

Glass breaker is for car windows. The old point skull crusher would of bin better for glass bottles. I prefer the Tungston ball bearing

Hey I have a knife video Idea for you.. Take the spring out of a Protech SNG and show us how it could operate as a manual. It should stay closed with the lock mechanism.
I gave that knife away, so i dont have it anymore but that would have been a cool video and now im curious if it would make a good manual knife

@@NeevesKnives the plunge lock should work too keep the blade closed or atleast give it some detent but idk for sure. I've only seen one person ever mention doing it.
Like the knife, but the price is too high. I dont mind to pay for it, but i do mind to use the knife then....
What stones did you use for sharpening? And how long to get a burr? I have the same knife in auto, but I haven’t needed anything but a strop so far.
I used the Venev cbn stones, took about 30 min all together, maybe 40 min but i took my time and got small chips out, maybe 5 to get a burr, if i would have changed the angle it would have taken longer
Great review!, but how certain are you that those scale inserts aren't real carbon fiber? I'm looking at mine now and they sure seem to be legit, even under magnification there are very minor fiber flaws that do not seem to be duplicated in any other part of the pattern. I even looked at the old knife center listings and they're sold as "carbon fiber inlays." Just interested in confirming this because it certainly would be shameful if they used a sticker but sold as CF.
I wanted manual one but I cannot find it , and I ended up with bought a Auto one.

The detent on mine is so strong I can barely open it in any way, and I have strong hands being a masonry laborer, thoughts?
Theres ways to tweak your detent strength, but maybe you should send it in to get adjusted, you can doit yourself but you can ruin your knife if your not careful ive done videos on making them stronger, its just the opposite way you can watch my kansept Goblin review or my Ckf empat video to give you an idea
