I'm not into the twin-cylinder sound at all, but man, that Ninja's parallel-twin SOUNDS SO GOOD! It's musical and harmonic, and not like the ripped fart V-twin sound that plagues the main street where I live, ha-ha. Congrats on the tune, mate! She sounds so nice and those burbles and pops give it character. God bless!

Just got my flash back from Chris about a month ago and took it out today for about a 40mi test ride. My bike is a 2017 Ninja 650 with Yoshimura exhaust and no other mods. This is my honest review. Will this be a night and day difference? No. But here are the improvements that are definitely noticeable. 1. Throttle Response: This is the first thing you will notice when you ride. The throttle just feels more free and quick to respond no jerking response that you feel with the stock tune. ( Definite and substantial difference) 2. Backfire:
When I installed the Yoshi pipe with no tune I did have a bit of popping on decel. Now almost completely gone. (positive for me, asked for tune with no popping). 3. Temperature: Bike definitely runs cooler now (1-2 bars lower than before) 4. Top End: This is without a doubt the biggest difference. The bike pulls noticeably and significantly harder at high rpm (about 8K) and just keeps pulling unlike before. ( for me this was the biggest difference and the dyno chart tells the same story). Low rpm and midrange difference are marginal at best other than the better throttle response. Would I do it again at $300 all in? Probably not. Would I do at $200 all in? Probably yes. Chris was great to deal with, fast service and responsiveness. Hope this helps.
    Update:
Done about 300 miles on this flash now, and gotta say it's great. It just makes the bike more enjoyable in every way. The only downside I would say is that there is a significant drop in fuel economy, about 10-15% in my case. Some of it is the tune and some of it is probably me because i' ve been riding it harder because it feels better now. Not a deal breaker for me but if you're using this particular bike for commuting it's worth thinking about.

I'm going to tack onto this review, since I just got the ECU on my brand new 2024 Ninja 650 ABS flashed and I couldn't be happier! Only mods I have done on the bike are the full Yoshi Alpha exhaust and K&N Air filter / Oil Filter. After plugging in the ECU the first thing I noticed was how much more responsive the throttle was, shifting also seems smoother and there isn't nearly as much jerking when accelerating or stopping (as mentioned above). Overall I think it's the best investment I've made so far for the bike, I'd pay the $300 just for how much more enjoyable & responsive the bike is to ride, even without the performance upgrades because I'm not concerned with increasing my top speed. Highly recommend a flash from Moore Mafia, I'll be back in the future when I purchase more motorcycles!!!!

Yet another reason why this is a perfect starter bike.
You learn on it taking it slow and responsibly, you grow with it for a year or two as you learn every intricate detail of just this particular bikes handling, and then when you're ready, no need to buy a new bike, you just flash the ECU to unleash it.
Wow. What a brilliant piece of engineering.

@@Wabbit1961 I personally do not own the MT-07, but I've done similar to other bikes. Depends on what you're after. Sometimes it takes a lot of disassembly and messing around to access the PAIR system, engine valve cover area, tubing and wiring and remove all that stuff. It's got a bit of weight to it, but honestly unless you're competing at a high level in some racing club, it probably doesn't matter that much. If you have a servo operating an exhaust valve, those have some bulk to them. Similar to a lead-acid battery, it's easy to remove some bulk in some cases.
PAIR systems are designed to do nothing except put O2 into the exhaust between the engine ports and the cat. That's all they are there for. If you remove the cat, the PAIR literally serves zero purpose.

If you're not mechanically inclined take it to a shop because you'll need to remove the PAIRS system and install the block off plates and air box plug. Also remove your O2 sensors. This guy's tune is crap. There shouldn't be anywhere NEAR that amount of back pop. But that's because the tune didn't include the removal of the items above. Good luck. Let me know what you did. Yeah I got a 2017 in a trade an I made a shorty m1 muffler an k&n filter an it’s a ok bike for around town has good low end torque an I know this one will only do 133 mph an that is on flat ground no wind if there is a factor in there we’ll that speed won’t get there. I rather be on my 08 zx6r cause she is my baby so idk if power commander or even a tune would be worth the money or time ? Plus I really didn’t want it I just did to help a friend out but is a great starter bike for sure .

I found some velocity stacks from KSPP, I think the top end is killed by the soft rubber ones that flex and close up at higher revs.

I saw this video just now. I'm hooked. I have a 2017 ninja 650 and I live in Lyman, not far from you, about a 20 min drive. I've never even heard of this tune before but now I want it.
Would you be willing to do this tune on my bike if I drop off the ECU for you instead of mailing it in?

I got a 2020 ninja 650, and would like to get this tune. However, I live in Europe :)... I was told to get the power commander and get it tuned by a professional. I have the akra full exhaust that came on the sporty version of the bike and then added a sportsfilter. It seems like it is running somewhat lean. Could you please helpme out? Do you know if there are suitable maps to download for my set-up, etc? This would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Just out of curiosity, how does this effect fuel mileage? I know a lot of people don’t care about that when tuning but I’m just curious about how when running richer than stock how it’ll effect it

    • @xorbe2
      @xorbe2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Well if it runs richer then it's using more gas, so mpg goes down ...

I had a PCV on mine when I bought it, so I've tried every combination of maps, O2 sensor on or off, stock exhaust or TwoBros.
I also logged the mileage. Worst was stock exhaust and PCV. 13.5 KM/litre. Best was PCV off and either a stock exhaust or a different one. About 17-18 KM/litre. I also weigh a bit so you should get more mileage.

Yes. The ECU is just under the gas tank. See my other posts please. This guy's tune is incomplete. Used car salesman mentality. That popping is NOT a good thing. Doesn't reply to people's questions on here. That should tell you something.

If you need more power, sell the 650 and get a different bike. If you want to adjust your 650 to run the way it should, then flash the ecu and get a tune.
