This video was important for so many reasons, but my two main ones are that: 1 - no matter your level, it's OK to struggle and make mistakes - it was gratifying to see Mike Portnoy look like me the first time I tried a standard 4/4 groove, lol; and 2 - I've always wondered what type of song is difficult for even the world's best drummers - we now have an answer. Great reaction and great insight as well, thank you for taking the time to run the full video!
This video from Drumeo was so good! And so needed! Wasn't it? It proves that even the greatest are only human and need time to learn and internalised things. A fantastic process from start to finish. And an absolute pleasure to react to. Hope to have you back in the future. Thank you.
@warlord_drums He certainly is. Your reaction videos are absolutely awesome. The way you explain things, G, is brilliant. Hopefully, one day, you & Mike Portnoy could get together and have a drum session 🤞🤞🥁🔥🥁xxx
Just goes to show what an awesome drummer like Mike can do. It’s not even really that close to what Danny plays, but it’s still an amazing sound added to the song. I wouldn’t mind at all if I saw Tool and and Mike had to sit-in for Danny.
Been a Tool fan since 92 and seen um so many times, but I honestly believed they were overlaying drum tracks on this tune when it was released. When the drum cam video came out, before the Fear UK tour I was blown away by what Danny was achieving. Danny however still says The Grudge is by far the most difficult to play for him. Great reaction.
No, the Jersey is only because they’re cooler under state lights and Danny wears jerseys of the local team near the venue they’re playing. Plus, he’s old school. So, while in Boston, he’s giving props to the legendary player Larry Bird. That’s still a funny observation though even though the double two counts at the end aren’t represented.
To quote Cartman.. fuck you guys, I am going home 😂 Also never apologize if you feel it, the only ones complaining abiut that are those not getting it. 😎
How can you analyze a video while you're almost always talking without listening et watching it ? Love drummers who analyze videos, but on your side you're just talking, and talking, and talking again, taking pleasure to talking to yourself. So sad.
@@warlord_drums no problem, it seems that a lot of people like your videos, it's the most important. I badly gave my opinion, I should have say this differently.
Honestly, this just proves how intelligent drummers are! Amazing analytical thinking and creativity and skill, I'm in awe... 🧠🥁🔥❤️xx
I appreciate how this shows that Danny Carey is a God over everyone!
He certainly is one of the greats. That can not be denied!
